on september 9th it sure is. for example roy halladay's ERA went up .17 in his start before last and he gave up 6 ER in 7 IP. why? because he's pitched 207 innings. wells has pitched 58. again, you're dealing in small sample sizes
and take away wells last outing and he's been lights out since coming off the DL. and yes, his era DID balloon quite abit when you consider that he gave up 4 runs in 5 innings and has missed significant time this season
yeah, after giving up 4 runs in 5 innings and AFTER i made that post, sure.
and yeah, 4.42 is considerably lower than 6.11. but that's like saying rosie o'donnell is considerably hotter than kathy bates
gore has value because he's a featured back ina league with many teams who have either unsettled rb situations or rb by committee strategies. that doesn't mean that he's going to have a great year in that league. he's still on a team without a great o-line and with an unproven qb. defenses will be keying on gore
i think LJ is overrated, but still, you won't win with dunn and gore as your starting RBs. in FF you have to decide whether your team is better or worse after the trade, not necessarily whether the trade itself is fair or not
i can't imagine why.
david wells pitched great in san diego as recently as 2004.
he pitched well in his one postseason start last season.
he also pitched great in the postseason for the yanks in 2003 until his last start against the marlins when his back went out.
he also hasn't had an ERA approaching 5.00 (like el duque did this season and last) since 1996.
and he's been lights out since he came off the DL this season.
he hasn't indicated that he hasn't gotten older and worse. last year his ERA was 5.12. 3 tough innings in one game doesn't erase that. and this year his era is 4.96. when the guy wins a postseason start at his age-range without playing for the ny yankees dynasty i'll be worried
how about the majority of those stats were earned before the 2001 season? he has one postseason win since and he got robbed and raped by the red sox in his last postseason start
