that's due to lewis' scheme. the eagles figured out the soft spots of the giants zone defense and exploited it--smith NEVER gets that many throws and there's a reason why last sunday was an exception. if lewis can't figure out by now that we're not a good zone blitzing team then he'll never learn. it's not like emmons was playing man-to-man on LJ smith all game

i dont thik he should be fired, but one thing i saw in the article was him bringing back his starter after a 4 and a half hour rain delay. the pitcher hurt his arm and was out for the season. that's inexcusable, especially during a pennant race. that said, he doesn't deserve to be fired, these guys obviously want to play for him

i heard figgins and weaver would be involved in any package for a-rod. personally i think the yanks are better off with weaver and figgins. when was the last time the yanks had a dominating young pitcher, and no one mention wang please, cuz by the time they both develop they'll be worlds apart

that reflects badly on the defensive line, not the linebackers--and we're not giving up a lot of big gains on the ground like 13 yards. we're only giving up 3.1 yards per carry. and tackles are the best statistical indicators of a good linebacker. normally i don't like emmons. i wanted him cut in the offseason and i wanted torbor in the starting lineup. the guy never stays healthy and i dont trust him to be reliable all season, but i can't really complain about his performance through these two games

pujols is the only reason i dont have them first. i can see pujols hitting late inning homeruns off hoffman

in order of preference: phillies cards mets our starting pitching is better than the phils and our bullpen is a lot better. the cards have one starting pitcher and no bullpen, their offense is virtually a one man lineup--they're severly flawed and looper will be closing for them the mets are a great all around team and the only way i want to face them is if pedro is hurt or not pitching well

cameron's playing pretty well for us too. but yeah that's pretty much all we got, and we can't play bard and piazza at the same time unless we make the series the pads have always been a good comeback team as well, khalil green and barfield have a knack for the clutch and hoffman's biggest nemesis (piazza) is on his team so i feel a little better about that

they are, and the pads are right there with them. if pedro goes down i give the pads the edge with the rotation, the lineup edge to the mets (by a lot) and the bullpens more or less even (though i trust hoffman and meredith more than wagner and heilman)

then again so will peavy, so it might come down to the bullpens

i agree, but an unhealthy pedro is a HUGE difference. if he's healthy i expect you guys to easily get to the WS. without pedro i like my team's chances against the mets

pads will also be starting two lefties in the playoffs and the mets are a much better righty-hitting team. lo duca's no gem behind the plate either, he's valued for his bat and the way he handles pitchers. i'd also MUCH rather deal with broxton/saito (two rookies) in the late innings than meredith (better than both guys the dodgers have) and hoffman
