  1. and you dont want to. i'd MUCH rather face penny (who has been garbage lately) and maddux
  2. every single player on the pads except the rookies have been to the playoffs. they essentially have the same team as last year
  3. it wont be if pedro isn't pedro. cuz glavine trachsel et al don't scare me
  4. emmons had 11 unassisted tackles and demps recovered a huge fumble
  5. we've been awake all season. it's fun being in a division where everyone can compete
  6. WHAT? you mean motes was wrong about something baseball related? i refuse to believe it. anyone with half a brain knew the mets were making the playoffs this year
  7. i was so pissed that none of those games were on tv. what a travesty. there's a half game lead separating going into that game
  8. if that's what it takes to beat us i like our chances
  9. you've been talking about strahan's decline for 3 years now. i guess eventually you'll be right, but not this season
  10. he needs four. i've love to see him get it while clinching the division or the playoffs and not have to wait till next season. yeah him and wagner are both having comparable seasons, but neither are having amazing seasons or cy young seasons--i dont think anyone with 4 or 5 blown saves should be in the cy young conversation
  11. if you honestly think i'm using save percentage, ERA and whip because hoffman is better than wagner at those stats and NOT because they are the primary stats by which closers are measured then i'm convinced you just like to argue with me
  12. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=5536 here's billy wagner's player profile page. let's see what stats are shown under his name....oh look at that, record, saves, era, and whip. where's k/9 and baa? oh right, i have to click 'stats' and then look under 'miscellaneous pitching to find those stats. figures they put the stats near his picture that i consider more important
  13. me and the rest of the baseball community. come on, era and whip and wins/saves are always the 3 primary stats pitchers are judged by. if santana and wang had similar era's they'd look at wins, if wins were similar they'd look at whether the team made the playoffs, then maybe they'd look at k's. but you know what that makes k/9? a SECONDARY stat. plenty of great pitchers aren't great strikeout pitchers. greg maddux struck out 200 batters once. glavine's never done it, your boy david wells never did it either. it doesn't matter how you get the out, as long as you get it.
  14. it'll be a tight race between the two teams for the wildcard..i'll tell ya that much
  15. well played, i'm telling 420 you made a mom joke. he won't take kindly to that
  16. that would've worked too. im sure he's smart enough not to play the line with two outs and a man on first. garner did a TERRIBLE job in that game
  17. the world series rarely goes 7 games anymore. plus, if rolen were in at 3b like he should've been, or if cabrera werne't stupidly playing the 3rd base line then the game would've been over
  18. but the bottom line is save percentage, and not only does hoffman have wagner beat, but he has every closer who ever lived beat. k/9, BAA are secondary stats. ERA and whip are more important. wang's k/9 sucks and he's a cy young candidate.
  19. and yeah i heard about wagner being involved in the cy young race and it's a joke. first of all he's not even the best closer in the NL--as usual that title belongs to trevor hoffman hoffman 1.83 era 0.96 whip 4 blown saves wagner 2.14 era 1.07 whip 5 blown saves hmmm, better save percentage, better era, better whip, pitches for a team that's 1/2 game out of first place in the tighest division in the majors and the leader in a tight wild card race. i'm not saying that hoffman should be in the cy young race either, but if any closer should be there it's him. in '98 the guy was 53/54 in save opportunities and the pads won 98 games and he lost out to glavine who didnt even have that great of a season that year, and gagne had to be perfect to win a cy young, so neither guy should even be inthe conversation
  20. as soon as hoffman retires. i love this kid
  21. that's why they're bums. peavy + amazing bullpen = no blown lead tonight
