  1. that's cuz gary sonned him last year. you gotta respect a guy who won't let his relationship with a player stop him from writing the truth
  2. it was pretty obvious that tiki's last extension was for below fair market value, but that's his own problem, he didn't have to sign that contract
  3. lol one person was like 'you are my fan'
  4. that's not a bad idea. willie doesn't seem to trust sele to pitch more than 1 inning per appearance. if the guy's going to be your long man he has to be able to pitch more than that. putting pelfrey in this role allows him to gain some valuable postseason experience while not putting too much pressure on him on big spots when the game is tied or close
  5. this explains everything. that must have been one of the points in the grievence that tiki was undoubtably apart of a few offseasons ago?s
  6. well he was under contract, his only options were to continue to play for the giants or retire.
  7. you are definitely entitled to your opinion on tiki and while i disagree with it i do respect it and can appreciate it's basis: that you are defending tiki because he was a great giant. if i've ever come across as crass in arguing with you about this issue i apologize, to me it's all just friendly debate
  8. that's a good point and i agree tiki didn't HAVE to quit because of coughlin. i guess it all comes down to whether or not you believe he quit because of coughlin. personally i am of the belief that coughlin was definitely a contributing factor in tiki's retirement. i remember tiki indicating as much last season and considering how much he dislikes coughlin it's tough for me not to believe this assertion. and if someone holds that belief i think it's fair to say that because tiki disliked coughlin enough to allow his presence to be a factor in his retirement it can be be yet another negative quality about this coach. i mean as much as i don't like the guy he WAS our best player, and if it's indeed true that he would've stuck around if coughlin was fired then i feel compelled to chalk this up to another failure on coughlin's part.
  9. i don't disagree with any of this regarding tiki's character, all im saying is that if it is indeed true that tiki quit because of coughlin that is yet another reason why he blows as a coach.
  10. while im probably the driver of the 'anti-tiki' bandwagon i probably dislike coughlin more. these excerpts only prove what most of us figured--that tiki quit because of coughlin. again, i dont like tiki as a person, but he was our best player and is gone now because of our coach. as a fan that's extremely depressing
  11. that's fair. all im saying is that he should have been fired. there's not much of a precedent of teams holding onto coaches who they don't like for an extra year just in case a few coaching candidates, who might not even end up being available, want to sign here. So i don't really support that type of reasoning--whether they employed it or not
  12. haven't you heard? injuries are a disease that coughlin can control. he told us so at his first press conference
  13. gratn being traded is nice cuz it shows they think ahmad bradshaw is the real deal--if droughns is stuck at fullback all year bradshaw gets more carries, the fact that they traded grant says that they feel he can handle it. im very pleased to say the least. huston's not vinetieri, but i thought he was way better than tynes. im a little confused by this move
  14. should have won? how so? they were the better team with the better coaching staff. and i dont want to hear anything about injuries from anyone who overlooked them to bash jim fassel
  15. no one is demanding a championship, we just dont like taking 2 steps back like we did last year when we had all the talent we had last season. i hope you aren't saying all this as a yankee fan.....
  16. i dont care about weiss, i care about coughlin not being here ....by accident
  17. yeah i've heard that guys like bradly and barrett have been behaving well cuz the clubhouse is so mellow and everyone is pretty tight, hopefully it lasts through october
  18. he's money in big spots so far, if he has a little blow up and still continues to hit .340 and drive in runs i'll take it
  19. more confirmation that coughlin's a fucking idiot and the new giants ownership are even bigger idiots. thanks tiki, you just HAD to go out with a big game huh?
  20. the mets have their share of problems, and i agree they aren't as good as last season, but the NL is WIDE open this season, all you gotta do is make the playoffs
  21. i think he'll be fine. they probably don't have him going 100% cuz of his running style and the fact that no one knows if he can handle the load for 16 games
  22. yeah, but it's still better than upstate ny, and my best friend is in the town right next to mine as opposed to being at least an hour away from everyone i knew when i lived in the murda. hopefully ny law comes to it's sense this time and im living in manhattan again this time next year
  23. im glad he wasn't here, he probably would've gotten hurt like half the league did this preseason and every preseason. as long as he produces i dont care what he does
  24. been there done that (see bottom pic in my sig)
