  1. i heard the espn radio interview too, the one where he said something to the effect of "maybe eli can be a leader now that a dominant presence like myself is gone" it never ends with this guy
  2. i heard the interview, i lost count at how many times tiki would declare one thing and then later on contradict himself. no one cares about his ben franklin quotes or that his momma's proud of him that he speaks his mind. or that he's 'not scared' (meanwhile he backpeddles on his coughlin comments--'coughlin's a good coach', the money comments--horrible excuse there, and the eli comments--'he's a good qb, he'll be a great leader'). he was getting heated that mike and chris kept interrupting them too, that's what happens when you get interviewed on the radio! im glad francessa told him straight up that he didn't believe that the retirement announcement wasn't done intentionally by him and his agent
  3. there/'s three years left including this season, but there are numerous mutual options that can break it starting after this season
  4. you should've heard the wack line he had last night (you can tell he had been working on it all day) THE DIAMONDBACKS ARE PLAYING A GAME OF NO LIMIT AND JUST BEAT TWO ACES (peavy and young)
  5. i expect a breakout season too but 4000 yards isn't enough--kitna threw for 4200 last season but but sacked 63 times and had around 20 intos. i'd love to see the completion percentage go up to 65% and his tds can stay the same (for all the shit he takes, the guy has thrown for 48 tds the past two seasons). most importantly, i want to see him take control in the 4th qtr
  6. just go away already and i dont know if any of you have ever heard mark grace do color for a baseball game, but it's absolute murder on the ears. he's gotta be the worst i've ever heard
  7. yeah let's see roy williams try to put a big hit on jacobs. the more i hear from jacobs, the more i like him. his comment was hardly bulletin board material if you ask me.
  8. he'll command top dollar, i doubt the giants will meet his asking price
  9. i think he's a horrible coach but i'm a giants fan before a coughlin hater--if he proves me wrong this season i will happily admit i was wrong and will jump right back on the bandwagon. i say 'back' because i actually kinda liked the guy prior to last season
  10. yeah he's shameless when it comes to parcells but i still think, relatively speaking, that francessa's the man
  11. that's cuz gary sonned him last year. you gotta respect a guy who won't let his relationship with a player stop him from writing the truth
  12. it was pretty obvious that tiki's last extension was for below fair market value, but that's his own problem, he didn't have to sign that contract
  13. lol one person was like 'you are my fan'
  14. that's not a bad idea. willie doesn't seem to trust sele to pitch more than 1 inning per appearance. if the guy's going to be your long man he has to be able to pitch more than that. putting pelfrey in this role allows him to gain some valuable postseason experience while not putting too much pressure on him on big spots when the game is tied or close
  15. this explains everything. that must have been one of the points in the grievence that tiki was undoubtably apart of a few offseasons ago?s
  16. well he was under contract, his only options were to continue to play for the giants or retire.
  17. you are definitely entitled to your opinion on tiki and while i disagree with it i do respect it and can appreciate it's basis: that you are defending tiki because he was a great giant. if i've ever come across as crass in arguing with you about this issue i apologize, to me it's all just friendly debate
  18. that's a good point and i agree tiki didn't HAVE to quit because of coughlin. i guess it all comes down to whether or not you believe he quit because of coughlin. personally i am of the belief that coughlin was definitely a contributing factor in tiki's retirement. i remember tiki indicating as much last season and considering how much he dislikes coughlin it's tough for me not to believe this assertion. and if someone holds that belief i think it's fair to say that because tiki disliked coughlin enough to allow his presence to be a factor in his retirement it can be be yet another negative quality about this coach. i mean as much as i don't like the guy he WAS our best player, and if it's indeed true that he would've stuck around if coughlin was fired then i feel compelled to chalk this up to another failure on coughlin's part.
  19. i don't disagree with any of this regarding tiki's character, all im saying is that if it is indeed true that tiki quit because of coughlin that is yet another reason why he blows as a coach.
  20. while im probably the driver of the 'anti-tiki' bandwagon i probably dislike coughlin more. these excerpts only prove what most of us figured--that tiki quit because of coughlin. again, i dont like tiki as a person, but he was our best player and is gone now because of our coach. as a fan that's extremely depressing
  21. that's fair. all im saying is that he should have been fired. there's not much of a precedent of teams holding onto coaches who they don't like for an extra year just in case a few coaching candidates, who might not even end up being available, want to sign here. So i don't really support that type of reasoning--whether they employed it or not
  22. haven't you heard? injuries are a disease that coughlin can control. he told us so at his first press conference
  23. gratn being traded is nice cuz it shows they think ahmad bradshaw is the real deal--if droughns is stuck at fullback all year bradshaw gets more carries, the fact that they traded grant says that they feel he can handle it. im very pleased to say the least. huston's not vinetieri, but i thought he was way better than tynes. im a little confused by this move
  24. should have won? how so? they were the better team with the better coaching staff. and i dont want to hear anything about injuries from anyone who overlooked them to bash jim fassel
  25. no one is demanding a championship, we just dont like taking 2 steps back like we did last year when we had all the talent we had last season. i hope you aren't saying all this as a yankee fan.....
