  1. I want to see more of Danny Ware and Darcy Johnson.
  2. Maybe Rice just doesn't like half breeds. Btw, anyone else ever wonder why Griffey filled out suddenly and could no longer get around on the fast ball? I thought the fucker would have had 800 hrs by now.
  3. Scout's honor? I don't know what you heard, but it was discussed during one of the games or pregames just before they moved Wang back into the rotation. I may be legally deaf, but I'd bet a 6 of Bud on it.
  4. Trust me, he was given the choice to go back to the minors and start, or stay and work out of he pen. Yep, and because he's used so sparingly now, he'll be subject to a pitch count limit next year. It's all BS because he's really not needed in the pen. A set up guy! What is that? Next thing you know, we'll have a set up guy for the set up guy.
  5. 1 inning here, 1 inning there, twice in a row, 1/3 of an inning. There's no way a young dude can stay useful like that. It's like Girardi's pissed because Hughes wouldn't go back down when given the choice.
  6. I gotta go with VG on this. You can learn to block much easier than learn to catch. I especially like Johnson because he's a power runner in the open field. I just thought he would have made a dent by now, and I'm beginning to wonder about the effort.
  7. I'm sure the feeling was mutual in NY. I, for one, didn't start liking Bonds until, while playing RF, he cut off an errant throw off from Munson. He didn't get the runner going to 3rd, but the effort was there. I was then pissed when we let him go the next year. O'Neil was as clutch as they came, though Murcer had a knack for bringing home that run from 3rd even when he was in a deep slump.
  8. The only thing better about the Mets stadium is the neighborhood, and I'm not even sure about that anymore. You need a fungo bat the hit one out.
  9. He's a good ball player, blu, and the Mets could have eaten his salary easy. Good defense with an off year hitting.
  10. Joba will be done with the pitch count next year, but Hughes, because Girardi won't use him, will have to go through it at least one more year.
  11. So he's a bit overpaid, but the Mets can afford it. He's having a below average year. Otherwise he's a solid player with speed, and plays great defense. At least better than average. Could be filling in in CF right now. It might not cost them much since it seems the Blue Jays are anxious to be rid of his salary.
  12. His wife and kids are probably thankful he was caught in a gay bar.
  13. It's the vets. They take a lot of pitches. It used to be the Yanks and O's. Now it's the Yanks and Sox. He's allowed to go over 100 a game. With him it's the innings they watch.
  14. How so? He was greatly admired here in the east, but out on the coast, you picked your own star, McCovey.
  15. You coulda blew me over with a feather. Besides that, everybody runs up a lucky streak once in awhile. But hey, if he turned his game around after the media came down on him, more power to us. I see the Sox went got themselves a bat. That'll make them a little tougher, and I won't be surprised if Kotchman proves more valuable than Hernandez..
  16. Joba has the potential, too. He just has to mature a little bit. Past experience tells me Halliday won't come cheap for the Yankees. Something like Joba, Hughes and Montero, and I'm sure against all that. PS Too bad the Mets don't have someone to trade. That would keep him out of the div., and help them beat the Fillies.
  17. I'll tell ya, I'm lovin' it. Back in the 70's and 80's, being the only Yankee fan, I took a beating from all the Giants, Mets, and Filly fans. What a pay back this would be.
  18. Truth be told, though, I would have put my money on the NL in this one. The Al had too many slumping players going in, specifically Tex and Halliday. Play of the game: Went to Crawford for his leap over the fence to steal a hr. It was okay, but almost every fielder in the ML makes that catch. My choice would have been Michael Young's play on Plujol's zinger. That would have eaten up the best of them.
  19. Sorry, but my henpecked ass wasn't allowed to watch it.
  20. Well, we don't seem to be able to win those 1-0 games Boston pulls out, but our whole staff has been fine for the most part lately. So we had a bad weekend against a hot team that usually kicks our asses out there. It happens to the best of them. Look on the bright side. We held them to 5 runs in the last game. That's like a win in itself. OR I was kinda wondering how we'd do once we hit the good line ups again.
  21. Maybe I don't pay enough attention, but it seems Church spends a lot of time on the DL.
  22. It seems to me he's on the shit list. It could be I missed it, but not once did I see Molina go out to talk to him. It probably stems from his previous start when he turned his back on Posada, and wouldn't take responsibility for a poor outing.
  23. It was an accident, but still, I wonder what the call would have been if Posada didn't catch it.
  24. This sounds like a knock on Ransom. I totally agree. I would have kept Pena up as back up infielder any day. He's not as error prone, and I'd rather have a light hitting .260 than a .190 with occasional power. As for Cervelli, he'll probably be up for good next year. Then in a couple of years we'll have a battle between him and Jesus Montero, who just may be the next Natural. I liked Cervelli. Good catcher, good arm, can run, and so far, a damned good clutch hitter. Reminds me of Thurman Munson.
