  1. Normally, one wouldn't know what to think about this response, but after last night's performance it's the only way to trully describe Perez.
  2. In all honesty, Ggirl, Hamels is a fuckin beast. You have no idea how happy I was when he left the game.
  3. Ggirl's cool. She's just terrible at picking a baseball team. Meanwhile... Bury them now! 7-5 Mets!
  4. I don't know if I'd go THAT far. Eli has the benefit of having better offensive weapons, but as someone here said about the Chargers-Patriots playoff game, Coaching beats Talent every time. The Giants coaching staff of the 80s and the 90-91 Super Bowl Season was incredible. You can not say that about this staff. You can barely say that they're good. The other thing, and it's been said already, is that once Simms got a lead, our defense didn't let it go. The same can't be said about our current (meaning last season's) defense. That being said... I don't believe that this comparison can be made right now. Aside from the obvious differences between coaching ability, coaching styles were different as well. The Simms Giants played Smash Mouth football, in which he didn't have to throw the ball 40 times a game, but the Eli Giants (eventhough we had the greatest RB in NY Giants history) wanted to not only throw the ball all over the field, but they wanted to throw the ball down field a lot as well. That type of offense screws can fuck up a QBs performance with the only exception being the 1999-2000 Rams. Anyway... like I said before you can't make this comparison RIGHT NOW.
  5. We gotta stop leaving runners on base. I know it's stating the obvious, but seriously WTF?
  6. It goes both ways. Like I was saying before, that good athlete gets hurt and he get's screwed. From the organization's perspective it's like, "Great! Now we don't have to pay this MF'er cause none of this money is guaranteed." The athlete is basically trying to protect themselves and their families. IMHO I think that this is more about the guaranteed part than about the actual dollar amount. Think about it, Take Briggs for instance: He's slated to make $7Million this year, but he wants a long term contract. In a long term contract, let's say 7 years with a $20Million Signing bonus, if my math is correct, that equals out to just under $3Million in guaranteed money a year. If he gets hurt he's okay due to the fact that he's getting the bonus regardless, but in the case of the Franchise Tag the player gets nothing. As far as the education goes, there's no arguing that. I think that everyone should stay in school for all four years, but that's not the case and when teams start throwing money at you it's kinda hard to say, "No, I'm going to stay in school."
  7. Two things about the Franchise Tag: 1. The money isn't guaranteed. You get hurt and you get screwed. 2. The Tag (according to ESPN) was implemented back in 1993. So these players had nothing to do with it being created. Now granted, I wouldn't be bitching about $5-8Million, but you have to look at it from the player's prospective. Say that Lance Briggs goes out and plays a full season for the Bears and tears his ACL. The Bears could then say, "Sucks for you Lance. You're cut." and then Briggs is left out in the cold with nothing to fall back on. If that $5-8Million was guaranteed money and the players were still complaining, then I might feel differently, but the Franchise Tag was a terrible idea no matter who wanted it.
  8. Got this from another board. Giants Make Offer for Briggs? By David Syvertsen | April 2nd, 2007 Print | E-mail According to a Chicago Bears source, there are two additional teams that have let their interest be known for the rights to OLB Lance Briggs. The Buffalo Bills are in search for a MLB to replace the departed London Fletcher-Baker who happens to be with the Redskins and the Giants are interested in a WLB to play next to Pierce in the new attacking scheme that we are all expecting. Early reports are that the Giants have offered their 1st round pick (#20 overall) for the rights to Briggs but the Bears have declined the offer because they are in search of better value. The reports all over ESPN are that the Redskins have offered a swap of #6 and #31 for the Bears to get rid of Briggs, which gives the Bears far better value in comparison to what the Giants have offered. However, the Bears seem reluctant to take that deal because they do not want to pay top dollar for a top 10 pick, and they would much rather take on smaller contracts of later picks. Now in order for the Bears to accept a deal from the Giants, Reese will likely have to cough up either a 4th round pick or a 2008 day one pick in addition to #20 overall. Do I think this deal will happen? No. I think Reese would absolutely love to bring in the playmaking Briggs to help revamp this defense. He is a Pro Bowl player that has not reached his prime yet, and possesses many traits that this defense has needed for quite some time. Speed, coverage ability, and big play ability are the most vital that come to mind. However, Reese loves each and every one of his draft picks and he has a scout’s mind, meaning he thinks that he will find a good player in every round they have a selection in. To start giving up a multitude of those picks for one player that is going to cost a ton of money to extend is a little too risky for him I think, and rightfully so. With the Redskins-Bears deal looking like it will fizzle out sooner rather than later, Giants may become the front runner for Briggs’ services unless the Bills make a better offer than their swap of firsts they made to the Bears. However, that does not mean in any fashion that the deal will go through because Bears GM Jerry Angelo is trying to push around every GM that has been involved in negotiations with the Bears, and Reese has proven time after time he will not tolerate that kind of action. Other Notes: According to the Giants website, they have signed Linebacker Jason Mitchell. Mitchell did not play last year in 2006 because of an injury he suffered during his final season at the University of Tennessee. Don't really know what to think about this. What we're reportedly offering is a complete contradiction of what Reese said about our Day 1 picks.
  9. You know... I was about to say something like, "Does our second 7th round pick really make that much difference?" but then I remembered Colston.
  10. Blasphemy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The 2006 NLCS never happened! Just like the Ravens winning the Super Bowl. :brooding:
