  1. Ryan Leaf is excluded from the list, just way to fucking easy. Don't be shy guys. To start off the list I pick a Jet Vernon Gholston 0 Sacks in three Seasons and here is what the draft pros had to say: http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/vernon-gholston?id=756 Vernon Gholston is a remarkable talent, but he's only just begun realizing his vast potential. He never picked up a football until his sophomore year in high school and had just one season of defensive experience as a linebacker before being converted to defensive end when he arrived at Ohio State. Blessed with incredible speed (clocked at 4.56 in the 40-yard dash), long limbs and superb strength, Gholston is the prototype pass rusher that professional teams look for -- big, fast, strong and explosive. An avid performer in the weight room, he boasted the best bench press on the team at 455 pounds. He also put on an impressive performance for teammates, squatting 405 pounds 20 times. How Gholston was lured into football will one day make a nice story, if he becomes the legendary pass rusher many personnel experts are predicting. Walking in the halls of Cass Technical High School, football coach Thomas Wilcher spotted the 14-year-old strapping youngster, who stood 6-3, 240 pounds at the time. He convinced the player to join the football team. Gholston was too big to play in Detroit's Police Athletic League and the elementary public schools did not offer an organized football program. From the first time he ever stepped on the field, the coaching staff knew they had a natural talent. As a sophomore at Cass Tech, Gholston was first tried at linebacker, but he was overwhelmed by the plays he needed to know to play that position. One of the offensive coaches "stole" the youngster away from the defensive squad and had him play offensive guard as a sophomore. His junior campaign was limited by ankle sprains, which forced him to stay on the offensive line and scrap plans to also play linebacker. By his senior season, he had already earned All-State honors as an offensive lineman and gained experience playing linebacker for the first time in his career. In just one season on defense, he was regarded as one of the best linebackers in the Midwest region. He would go on to record 75 tackles with six sacks in his final season, as Rivals.com rated him the 11th-best defensive end prospect in the nation and the 12th-best overall prospect in the state of Michigan. Gholston enrolled at Ohio State, becoming the only player from Michigan on the squad. He turned down scholarship offers from Michigan, Michigan State and Iowa to join the Buckeyes. The coaching staff immediately began giving him a crash course in playing the "Leo" position, which incorporates dropping into pass coverage and rushing the passer from either side of the field. He mentored under Mike Kudla his first year with the team, appearing in six games as a true freshman in 2004, but did not record a tackle. In 2005, a broken hand suffered in the second game vs. Texas earned Gholston a medical hardship. He had one tackle in that game and spent the rest of the year on the sideline. Gholston used that time wisely in the weight room, bulking up from 238 to 264 pounds, as he took over "Leo" duties in 2006. He garnered All-Big Ten Conference second-team honors, as he ranked fourth in the league with 15 stops for losses of 86 yards and was fifth in the Big Ten with 8.5 sacks. He added a quarterback pressure with two pass breakups and an interception. He also finished sixth on the squad with 49 tackles (21 solo). In 2007, Gholston earned All-American recognition and was a finalist for the Ted Hendricks Award, given to the nation's top defensive end. He posted 37 tackles (25 solo) and was a terror in the backfield, ranking eighth in the nation with 15.5 stops behind the line of scrim
  2. And on a side note.... Some way, some how, the signing of Shaun Rogers must be salvaged and if that means we keep him on the roster and activate him in December then that is what we're going to do. Overheard driving past MetLife stadium from NJ Turnpike
  3. Well its a time issue. Linval Joseph, Marcus Kuhn, Dwayne Hendricks; the staff have seen them in training camp and have seen them play this preseason. Get more bodies now and have them play against the Jets on Saturday.
  4. Gonna be carrying a few more defensive tackles on the practice squad I think.
  5. I agree on the sleep part but do you really think the mattresses are different from any previous season? Are the Giants buying new mattresses every season? Don't think so.
  6. I think this is pretty funny. Yeah multi-million dollar franchise with everything they need to pretty much just skip over the Albany training camp altogether that has been practicing up in Albany for years now. This is the year when people are complaining about beds being too small and hard? Guys, you're soft. You slept in those beds last year and the year before that.
  7. Martin Parker has a herniated disc that will require surgery, his season is also done. So we're down to Linval Joseph, Rocky Bernard, Dwayne Hendricks, and Markus Kuhn as far as still healthy enough to practice.
  8. These guys were shit and this is coming from someone who watched the game at a bar with no sound while drinking. It wasn't just this game either. Offensive holding on the punt returner? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!!!
  9. I don't see him being ready by the start of the season and cutting him in Sept is a horrible idea based on what is known so far. If he has to take a roster spot and be inactive for half the season so be it. We have players who have shown less and sat on the bench for most of the season. Have to admit that I'm going to LMAO if they decide to cut Shaun Rogers.
  10. Yeah I wanted him at first then once it looked like we wouldn't even have a chance at him I wanted Roethlisberger. Just funny how things work out eh.
  11. With Aaron Ross, I don't believe it had anything to do with money.
  12. I think he is the best linebacker we have drafted in a very long time. Tons of raw ability and he is putting it together.
  13. Come on guys give Jerry a break, he is just trying to sell some football tickets and what better draw does he have than having the super bowl champions gracing his epic nfl stadium.
  14. I don't think the organization is really interested in having him sit this season. They'll put him on the pup list but if he goes on IR for the season, a lot of people are going to look at that contract he just signed and say we need to get out of this while we still can.
  15. I'm always entertained by the training camp reports, especially with what fans have been able to deduce. There are only a few things training camp can tell you as far as I can tell: Who is hurt, who is practicing, and who isn't even there.
  16. You can't keep people who don't want to stay. You also can't keep people you cannot afford to pay. There was a known risk with Terrell Thomas and every other player who has ever been hurt. Sometimes it just doesn't work out.
  17. This was a possibility and Reese planned for it as well as anyone could possibly have. We have already seen players coming back from a season ending injury not fully recovered a year later and we have seen players get re-injured and lost for a second consecutive season. Salary cap wise, couldn't afford to keep Aaron Ross and considering his age, up & down seasons, why break the bank to keep him over other players?
  18. Goff was good but not worth getting into a bidding war over.
  19. Everyone feels like that before camp. Not even half the board members here felt this team had a chance at the super bowl in November last year.
  20. Well they aren't horrible football players and deserve a look.
  21. Good job picking the play that didn't win us the super bowl.
  22. Walking on water is not necessary, there is no pool on the field. If you think Eli Manning has nothing to improve on well then I would be wasting my time explaining how he could since you have not watched a single football game.
