  1. Yeah S may not have been as big of a position of need as some others on this team, buy I think we got an impact player in X man.
  2. Maybe he'll get better. There's hope for Hernandez with a new staff, but if he plays this year like last year, I'm ready to declare him a bust and move on. Nick Gates was serviceable and proved to be better than Hernandez (and Remmers). He could compete for the spot as well.
  3. I bet he has more of a shot at LG once Hernandez busts out.
  4. Yeah, plus I don't see how this is any different than us normally berating Gettlemen for his prior two poor free agencies like we always do. No different than any fans berating their GM in general for poor decisions. It's what fans do. Complain about poor decisions.
  5. He's had three coaches already, but now his fourth will make him Richard Seymour? And no other GM in the league could see that but Getty? Hah!
  6. The problem with the trade is it didn't need to happen. We could have just signed him in the off-season, likely for far cheaper, if we really wanted him. Possibly for something like 4 years $40-48 million, which wouldn't be too bad (I would have invested elsewhere, but that wouldn't be a bad deal). And we'd have a high 3rd rounder this year, a premium pick. I also trusted BJ Hill just fine in his place. Yes, Hill isn't as good, but it's not a huge drop-off to free up $17mm in cap space to allocate elsewhere. That $17mm could have gotten is Graham Glasgow and Markus Golden. It's just a huge blunder on Gettlemen's part.
  7. I agree. If you get anything out of a 5th - 7th rounder, whether it be rotational/backup and/or special teams player, consider that a win. Look back at drafts from 4-5 years ago and most teams 5-7th rounders are out of the league entirely. Everyone likes to glorify the Tom Brady's or even Ahmad Bradshaw's/Jessie Armsteads of the late rounds, but those instances are very rare.
  8. With a 4th round investment in a CB, we're lucky if the guy competes this season for a nickel back role (an important role that could see 50% of snaps), but not much more. If we get more out of him, that's a big win and great value. Heck even if he sticks as a nickel back for the next three years, that's not bad for a 4th round pick. It also make sense considering Beal can't stay on the field and has been bad when out there, plus the jury is still out on Baker and Ballentine.
  9. 6th and 7th round picks have like less than a 3% chance of becoming starters in this league, so after round 5 I lose interest and don't care who we draft. And the two late 7th rounders were so late that they are basically "priority free agent" picks. If 2 out of these 5 late round picks even make the roster, that will be an accomplishment.
  10. Yep. They missed on getting the two remaining starting centers they were targeting, Hennessy and Cushenberry, as a result.
  11. Curious where he fits on the roster. Just guard depth? And or is he insurance for if Hernandez doesn't work out? Insurance/future replacement for Zeitler? Maybe all of the above.
  12. UConn baby! My Alma Mater. This guy tossed around players all season, though against lesser competition in the AAC. He's got a real chance to start year 2.
  13. That's going to be some good competition at LB.
  14. Big question is do we trust Nick Gates at RT? I do not trust Spencer Pulley as a starting C Round 2 targets C Lloyd Cushenberry S Xavier McKinney DE/EDGE Yetur Gross Matos CB Jaylon Johnson S Grant Delpit S Antoine Winfield Jr LB Zack Baun LB Logan Wilson Round 3 DE/EDGE Jonathan Greenard EDGE Jabari Zuniga EDGE Bryce Huff C Matt Hennessy TE Harrison Bryant WR Chase Claypool OT Ben Bartch OT Lucas Niang S Terrell Burgess
  15. Between Williams and Fackrell, the giants have officially invested $21 million dollars to upgrade their pass rush with guys who produced a total of 1.5 sacks last year.
  16. I have a strange feeling the giants are going defense with pick, trade down or not, and draft either Brown, Okudah, or Simmons.
  17. You're saying #9 and #42 are fair? Or you #9 and #20? The former is okay, and I'd still take it. We'd still be able to land one of Wills, Thomas, or Wirfs.
  18. Giants in talks with the Jaguars, apparently. Jags would get the #4 pick. Giants would get #9 and #42 https://www.bigblueview.com/2020/4/23/21232443/nfl-draft-rumors-ny-giants-discussing-move-to-no-9-with-jacksonville-jaguars I'm hoping we get better than that from the Jags. #9 and #20.
  19. What would be interesting is if we trade down and draft Derrick Brown, and then rescind the franchise tag on Williams and ask him to sign a relatively cheap 3 years $21 million dollar contract...or else he becomes a free agent, and will be lucky if he gets a 1 year $5mm dollar deal, like Eli Apple can't even get.
  20. I don't know. The Giants have good skill position players on offense with a fun and exciting QB and RB combination which should theoretically make it easier on an online Go to San Diego and you're getting a rebuild, or Denver and a sort of rebuild with Drew Lock. Our record won't be too different from theirs, I think. The one guy who loves to be in NY is Leonard Williams. We're the only morons dumb enough to give up two draft picks for 8 games only to have to give him 17 million in free agency
  21. You can cut it that way as well. Williams + Fackrell's cap space could have gotten us Bulaga and Graham Glasgow.
  22. That's $22 million we could have used to sign Bulaga and Graham Glasgow, actual starting capable OL.
  23. Interesting. Wonder if we can get a team like the Jaguars to trade up...maybe they fall in love with Simmons, Brown, or an OL and want to jump ahead...but I can see them just as easily trading with SD and Mia for less., rather than us.
  24. I agree Getty has drafted relatively well. Can't complain about his drafts. But that's only one side of the coin. His free agency periods have been disasters, one after the other. His only good move I can think of is Zietler, but it gets lost in the shuffle because the offensive line as a whole has been putrid and hasn't made any progress since he's joined. Perhaps coaching is a factor, but still. Again, I can't see how a GM can justify allocating $22mm to Williams and Fleming, while going into the draft with three big holes on the OL, plus one starter (Hernandez) who had a down year, and you can't rely on the draft to get two-three day 1 starters. I also have a funny feeling Getty is content with the OL and may go defense round 1, with Isiah Simmons, Jeff Okudah, Derrick Brown, etc. All of whom I'd love to have on this team, if only we had an OL!
  25. If we had Glasgow and Bulaga on this team, along with one good OL draft pick, we're looking at a far better offense this year and the next three years. That is the difference having a capable O-line can make. At skill positions, we should be fine for two years with Barkley, Slayton, Shepherd, and filling out the rest of the offense with draft picks, before Barkley gets a big deal in two years.
