For those keeping score it's now 8-2, and I should clearly be the Giants GM over Schmoe Schoen.

But hindsight drafts are so easy.

Here's mine.

First round - Sam LePorta

Second round - Marvin Mims

Third round - Josh Downs

Fourth round pick - Puka Nakua

Fifth round picks - Terrel Smith, Dorian Thompson Robinson, Anders Carlson.

Sixth roundpick - trade to the Jags for Ezra Cleveland.

BIC 8-0 everyone else 0-8.

All of my picks are probowlers or starters.

Take that NFL.

Whelp, it’s once again time to see who we should have drafted instead of who Joe Schmoe drafted.  Now full disclosure: I barely had any time to research prospects this year, so I’m coming into this a little wobbly.  However, I’m 8-2 so far lifetime against Joe Schmoe, so I’m pretty sure that even on a bad day I can still probably get more right than him.   Let’s find out.

Round One: Pick No. 6: Malik Nabers, WR, LSU
Seph’s Pick:  Malik Nabers, WR, LSU

Jesus famously said, “Love your Nabers, he’s a dawg.” and I’m taking the Good Lord’s  advice here.  There will be lots of Hail Marys in our future. Dude has the ability to turn around an entire offense assuming he 1. stays healthy, and 2. doesn’t self-destruct.  I’m not positive either of those things won’t happen but I’m taking the shot on his talent here.

Round Two: Pick No. 47 (from SEA): Tyler Nubin, S, Minnesota
Seph’s Pick: Tyler Nubin, S, Minnesota

I’m happy with this pick… but man, how nice would Cooper DeJean have looked in blue?  If Brian Burns doesn’t suddenly become an All-Pro edge I think it’s really time to start petitioning the Maras for me to take that GM job.  But yeah, anyway, Nubin is a nice pick and we really needed another safety.  He should improve our turnover ratio by the second half of his sophomore season.  DeJean is a lock to be a Hall of Fame player because the Eagles took him.  I don't think Brian Burns ends up in the Hall of Fame.

Round Three: Pick No. 70: Andru Phillips, CB, Kentucky
Seph’s Pick:  Coober Beebe, G, Kansas State

So let me get this straight… Phillips allowed a 106 passer rating against him last year, had a 20% missed tackle rate, and had zero interceptions.  What am I missing here? Those are all bad… plus he plays nickel, which we already have 3 players there.   Meanwhile, I didn’t love Beebe in the 2nd due to his lack of lateral movement but would be more than happy to take a shot at him here; he’s big, strong, tough, and mean.  Whelp, we’d better hope he sucks because now he’s playing in Dallas. Oh yeah, there’s also literally no starting LG on the roster right now.  Did our line suck last year?  Did it suck historically? I forget.

Round Four: Pick No. 107: Theo Johnson, TE, Penn State
Seph’s Pick: Theo Johnson, TE, Penn State

The JPP of tight ends.  I likeded it.

Round Five: Pick No. 166 (from SF through CAR): Tyrone Tracy Jr., RB, Purdue
Seph’s Pick: Michael Pratt, QB, Tulane

Tracy is arguably the better pick here, but we only have Lock for one season and then we’ll be looking at having Tommy DeVito as our QB again (in this scenario, Jones is hurt because in every scenario in his career so far Jones is hurt). I think Pratt brings some real tools to the table and I’d love to see what he could do with Daboll coaching him up. I think he could be a top-notch backup with eventual (like 3 years from now) mid-level/hold the fort starter potential.  Probably a bit of a reach but it’s better than the 3rd round reach we took at corner.

Yeah… Tracy is probably going to be really good and Pratt will probably not be but I’ll take that chance anyway.  We're in so much fucking trouble at QB.

Round Six Pick No. 183: Darius Muasau, LB, UCLA
Seph’s Pick: Christian Mahogany, OG, Boston College

Muasau seems like a fine linebacker for a sixth-rounder, and what he lacks in speed he makes up for with instincts and power.  However, I really think Mahogany has a chance to develop into a very good guard with some NFL-level coaching.  His power is already evident, and his feet are decent for a man his size. Let Rich Mahogany take his leather-bound books and compete with Beebe for the LG spot and be happy at whoever ends up as the backup.  Also, not sure if you all were aware or not, but our line graded out as the second-worst line in NFL history, because it sucks.  I don’t think Austin Stinnie fixes that.

Thanks and glad you enjoyed it Chuck.  I'm good for one of those about every six months.
