Giants first four picks (draft mock)

Since everything after round four is a crap shoot I thought I'd focus on the first four rounds and what I'd like to see the Giants do.

This draft is a unique one after corona fever prevented many teams from seeing players further at their pro days or bringing them into the facility for interviews.

So what I would like to see come draft day.

Round 1 Pick #4: Trade, Chargers receive #4, Giants receive pick #6 and pick #71. Chargers jump ahead of the Dolphins to take the QB they want, Giants get an extra third round pick without the risk of losing out on the player they want. If no trade happens then move the following up to pick #4;

Round 1 Pick #6: Jedrick Wills OT, 'Bama. Judge has ties to Saban and picks Sabans brain on Wills as a player since as stated pre draft interviews/workouts with these players have been limited. Giants get the best OT prospect of the draft, not the best player at the pick, but a guy who is going to hold the LT down for the next while. They can then klet Solder/Gates fight it out over the RT spot.

Round 2 Pick #36: Logan Wilson LB, Wyoming. Three year captain and starter, highly productive in college with great instincts in both pass coverage and the run game. One of the best tackling LB in the draft, and uses his game knowledge to create plays and speed despite not the most athletically gifted. Can also get after the QB, and shoots through gaps, not the best at taking on the big hog mollies though. Going to contribute day one on ST and will eventually rotate in and start at either SAM to MLB. THIS is the LB the Giants have wanted for years.

Round 3 Pick #71 (From Chargers): Micheal Pittman WR, USC.  A tall, big, physical WR who falls out of the second round with the deep WR class. Productive starter at USC who bullied corners with his height and size (6ft4 223 lbs). Fits the mold of the big WRs that Garrett likes to have on the outside in his system. Not a burner but a possession WR who will make those contested catches, as he fights for the ball on every pass. Made his money on third and short and endzone situations, out jumping, and using his hands to attack the ball in the air, getting there before the DBs have a chance. If no trade occurs with the Chargers then onto the next pick;

Round 3 Pick #99 (Comp pick) : Julian Okwara DE/EDGE, Norte Dame. Pure pass rushing specialist, tall and lanky with speed. Made his college career causing havoc on the edge and creating plays in the backfield (something like 1/3 of his tackles were for losses). Exposed in run defense as he over pursues plays at times and runs himself out of the play all together. Would contribute day one in passing situations. Brother is on the Detroit Lions.

Round 4 Pick #110: Matt Hennessy Center, Temple. Asked to move to center in college due to his lack of size, and started every game after that. Tough, physical player, who uses leverage to win at the line of scrimmage, does everything asked of him. However not the biggest by any means and will need to add muscle to run with the big boys in the NFL, and doesn't have the length you would want to maintain separation. Has long snapper experience so he could find value on ST since DeOssie was let go/retired.

I"d be happy with that draft.

Here's mine, assuming the Chargers trade scenario:

1 (6): Jedrick Wills, OT Alabama

2 (36): Lloyd Cushenberry, OC LSU

I believe OL in general is our top priority, and I'm not at all comfortable going into the season with Spencer Pulley at C. Cushenberry and Cesar Ruiz are the top C in this draft, but I presume Ruiz will be gone at this point, so the giants pick Cushenberry. I would also love to take a top pass rusher, but the position is thin in this draft and no player at this point warrants a high 2nd round pick (plus I'm hoping we bring back Golden).

3 (71): Terrell Burgess, S Utah

Interchangeable safety who provides depth and sub-package coverage roles, plus insurance in case Love doesn’t pan out and/or Peppers leaves next year.

3 (95): Troy Dye, LB Oregon

LB depth with coverage ability.

4 (110): Josiah Scott, CB Michigan State

The giants need depth at CB and a slot cover corner, particularly as Sam Beal can't stay on the field plus hasn't shown much. Scott plays bigger than his size. Nevertheless, his traits are perfectly suited for slot corner with spot starting capabilities as well.

Just now, Sephiroth said:

They put him at RT because that's Tua's blindside.

Right, but from what I’ve read he played on the right side even in high school.

That’s a long time.

Watch his tape and you'll change your mind. Worst case scenario is we have an All-Pro RT for the next ten years.

Any chance the Jaguars trade up their #9 and #20 pick, and possibly a mid rounder, to us for the #4 pick, to jump ahead and pick Tua?

Or do they believe Minshew is their answer at Qb?

In that scenario, you risk Wills or your top OL prospect possibly being drafted by the Cards or Panthers, but you still likely end up with a good OT, or DL Derrick Brown, LB Isaiah Simmons, possibly even Okudah if he ends up falling.

I believe they are all in on Mr.Pornstash this year.

I thought they even admitted starting Foles was a mistake when he came back from injury.

Highly doubt they trade up for a QB.

Would be nice if the Giants could land a haul for the Charger did for Eli but i don't see it happening with this crop of QBs and where the Giants are.

Now if the Bungals pass on Burrows and the Skins and Lions go defense suddenly the Giants have some crazy options.
