O'Hara not liking offer

Here's the linkThe big one, of course, is O'Hara, but things are not going well. On Friday, at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis, the Giants presented him with a six-year, $21.6 million offer with about $7-7.5 million guaranteed money and gave him a take-it-or-leave-it ultimatum. That did not sit well wtih O'Hara's agents, and according to a source who has spoken with O'Hara, he didn't take it well either. At his agent's urging, he has agreed to step back and take a few days before making up his mind, but his initial reaction was not good news for the Giants if they truly want to bring him back.

O'Hara will almost certainly get more money quickly if he becomes a free agent on Friday. NFL sources have speculated he'll get at least $4 million per year over five or six years -- maybe more since he is the best available center on a mediocre market with a lot of teams overflowing with salary cap cash.

The Giants, meanwhile, are standing firm because their final offer met O'Hara's exact original asking price. They initially had no intention of paying that much, but they agreed to it after the Dallas Cowboys signed their center, Andre Gurode, to a six-year, $30 million deal with $10 million guaranteed. Of course, after that deal, O'Hara recognized the market was going up and raised his asking price, too.

There is some slim hope that talks will reopen tomorrow, but it does appear this is boiling down to a game of who'll blink first. The Giants are insisting they're willing to go into 2007 with Rich Seubert as their starting center and -- if they don't sign another starting tackle or guard -- Ruegamer as their starting left guard. O'Hara, despite being a Jersey guy, seems content to see if another team (Baltimore and Tampa Bay may have interest) is willing to give him a better deal.

You can expect this one to go right down to the wire on Thursday night.

Is it me or can he not do the math?

4 mill for 6 years is 24 mill no 7-7.5 mill guarantee from other team

3.6 Mill for 6 years +7-7.5 mill GUARNTEEDis 29.1 mill from the Giants

hes got to hope another team shells out at least 5.2 million to get more than what he is offered now and of that none of it is guaranteed .If he sustains a career ending injury next year with another team He is out 7.5 mill(wich the giants guarantee) plus say 20 million that the team has him contracted for. so he would be lucky to get 4 mill o from that first year.

If it was me I would go for the "SURE" thing because ....well quite frankly no ones career is guaranteed.

They didn't mention in the offer from other teams that he was getting guarenteed money, but that's what he wants, about $8- $9 million. So he's figuring to get over 30 mill.

It's still too much, but I think he'll sign.
