  1. Hey, it's not my fault the definition of a dropped pass is stupid. The stat is worthless like +/- in hockey. Shockey pisses me off to no end, but I don't dislike him. Don't pick the parts of posts you disagree with and ignore the others. I said he's one of the best blocking TEs in the league and I don't want him traded unless we rob the other team with a top 15 pick. I'm not blowing out of proportion the simple fact that JS and Eli are not on the same page at all, and I firmly believe 90% of that is attributed to JS for the reasons given. And I know Bavaro dropped balls. I watched virtually every game he played as a Giant. Big difference was he wasn't a complete asshole on the sidelines or in the huddle, or taking stupid penalties. He was the ultimate team player. I can live with mistakes if the player is a consumate pro like Bavaro and brings it every single down. Shockey still acts like a 5 year old, but at least he brings it every play. Shockey is a great TE. Not because of his receiving skills which have regressed, but because he has rounded out his game to become an awesome blocker. If he would focus a little more, he'd be stud TE, like Bavaro.
  2. Taking BPA at Safety, LB or DT would make me happy.
  3. The dropped passes stat is worthless. There are plenty of times a player doesn't get credited with a dropped pass, for whatever reason (like the ball not being thrown in the numbers). It's been discussed incessently on BBI. if Shockey is this monster receiver everyone likes to dream about, he should be coming down with any pass thrown in his direction. That's what top notch receivers do, and Shockey simply does not on a consistant basis. If you get a hand on the ball, you're a pro and you should come down with it. No if ands or buts. Frankly, I don't care about his receiving stats. I just want him to block like he has been the last few years and i want coaches to have to gameplan for him. But the excuses peeps come up with for this guys weaknesses are rediculous.
  4. Seph, i don't mean this rant as a knock, but I've seen this come up all over the place and I must respond. The whole "he's not being used right" arguement is hogwash. He's a TE. his primary job is to block (which he is one of the best in the league at) and catch 5-20 yards passes, just like the greatest Giants TE ever Mark Bavaro did. His speed has diminished, he has trouble running routes, he's always hurt and drops a bunch of passes. But peeps keep saying he's not being used right. Wrong. That's not to say you can't take a shot down field here and there with him, cause it does happen, but TC & Gilbride are using him exactly how they should. Shockey simply doesn't deliver when the ball is thrown his way. it's a simple fact. Regardless, i don't want him traded unless we get a 1st rounder in the top 15. Oh yeah, Jim Ross can shut the fuck up.
  5. It will definitely be interesting. I would guess the Jets & Giants would have the same PSL policy. Regarding the Iggles, from what I remember, the fans went batshit when they announced the PSLs and the organization ended up not having them for the cheaper seats. i could be wrong though. i do remember seeing a townhall meeting on CSN with Joe Banner & a bunch of season ticket holders, and the shit they gave him was great. The Giants fans will simply have to speak up and follow the Philly fan lead if they try to hit the cheap seats with PSLs.
  6. Usually just the tix for the games I go to. When a good DVD or something comes out, I'll nab that too. It's not much, but I'll be damned if I give them another penny if those PSLs go through. It'll probably mean I won't be buying the Playoff box set, but whatever. I'll copy them instead.
  7. if it's $10,000 for every seat, the entire upper deck will turn over. Not that the organization would care, but I'll protest the team financially over this. That number is fucking ludicrous.
  8. I actually tried to sign on to that board for the first time in a couple years, but they reset my password or something. so much for trolling.......
  9. FUCK YEAH!!!!!! this was the one guy I really wanted back. Awesome deal methinks. Just so long as he can stay healthy. If we can keep BJ & Ward on the field, and with the emergence of Bradshaw, we easily have the best set of RBs in the league. Shit, probably in Giants history. Very happy. Luv teh Reese. BONG TIME!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Adios Brett. i always hated the sonsabitch, but he was damn good (though a bit overrated). The thing I'll never forget about him was the look on his face during the Championship game. You could tell he was finished. He didn't want to be out there in the cold and was miserable. heh
  11. I think those stats are a bit deceiving. To me, they say opposing offenses threw his way to take advantage of his lack of speed and range. The more tackles a secondary player has, it means opposing teams believe they are a weak link and will attempt to take advantage. You want your LBs & DL doing the tackling, not players at the next level cause that means you're giving up yardage. The signing bonus is peanuts, and if he is cut the bonus would be split between this year and next, so no problem there. I do like his durability. He also played under Giunta in KC, so there is familiarity. He will also be a good teacher and QB for the secondary. He'll probably make the team, but I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see Johnson & Butler starting. The safeties that make the team will greatly depend upon the progression of Butler & Johnson. The Giants are actually pretty good at LB. MLB & SLB are set. Wilk will in all probability start at WLB. You then have Blackburn & DeOssie as backups. Another LB is definitely needed, but it is not a pressing need like S. Really, i could see Reese taking either a S, LB or DT in the 1st round. Whichever position has BPA.
  12. There's a good chance he doesn't even make the final roster, especially since the cap hit would be minimal. Reese will still draft a S, and probably sign some UDFAs. This signing is a lot about depth and competition at camp.
  13. The Giants are not interested in Moss. Those are teams the writer THINKS would be interested in Moss, and his opinion is way off. The idiot should go back to journalism school.
  14. I believe it would have cost $4 mil to tag Gibril. For one year, it could have been an alright deal, but if Reese plans on extending Snee, Eli, Jacobs & other key core players, then tough luck Gibril. We have a plethora of players more important to the team than Wilson to work out contracts with. Also take into account Plax, and to a lesser extent Osi & Strahan, who want more $$.
  15. I'd love to have Ward back, and I've read that Reese and his agent had some talks, but I doubt they can re-sign him. He's gonna want to start somewhere, and I don't see how we can give him the cash he'll want. If we do re-sign him, I'll be happier than a pig in shit. As far as Gibril, I'd like him back, but not breaking the bank to do it. I have faith in Spags and Reese to make things right at both safety positions.
  16. Give Stra an extra million, and let him do the LT camp thing: eat ice pops, crack jokes, and sit around. if he wants $7 mil like I've seen around, he can go to hell.
  17. The Eagles will get a 3rd for him if they're lucky. Too injury prone to get back much in a trade. Regardless, he's good when he's in there and I'll be glad to see him go. Eli is gonna pass for 400 yards/game against them next year.
  18. hehe..... just started getting back into the Absolut swing of things! Will have to take you up on it. You anywhere near Jimi's Grille in Langhorne? Just did an open mic there on monday. Is that even Bucks Co? I'm still baffled on PA geography.
  19. Nice! Hey G, I don't think I ever told you, I'm in Philly now! Still haven't gotten jumped for wearing Giants stuff. WOOHOO!
  20. link Good for him! I would have done the same if anyone else from the NFC East won it. This will get him re-elected for life.
  21. '86 is easily the best. IMO, they are one of the top 3 all time teams with the 70s Steelers & Cowboys. They were absolutely dominant and you had no fear of them losing what-so-ever. I haven't seen another team like that to this day. This years Pats team would have been blown out 35-10, and Brady would have been sent to the morgue..... on the first drive....... after throwing a pick. Now, the '90 Giants vs the 2007 Giants would be interesting. If Simms never got hurt, I'd go with the '90 team, but he did so the 2007 team may have a slight edge. Whoever wins that game does it in the final seconds on a field goal.
  22. Everyone on IR & the practice squad get a ring.
