  1. not saying we would've won with burress, but people were putting hixon in the hall of fame during the burress arguments last week. that hixon drop was HUGE
  2. the tie-breaker is total team td's--which i found out the hard way against vg in the finals last year :brooding:
  3. I wouldn't be opposed to such rules, but my best guess is that the players union isn't having any of it. something tells me this idea has crossed coughlin and other coaches' minds before
  4. i think we're on the same page. i dont think he should be judged for going to a club--especially since he apparnetly had approval with the leader of the team. i def agree about the gun though, very stupid. im coming off like a huge plax defender in this thread but really all i am saying is that a) we shouldn't get all over him for being at a club and b) he was a much bigger part of our superbowl championship than a lot of people in this thread are giving him credit for and c) i think too many people have a 'what have you done for me lately' attitude
  5. lol "the only reason why they're good is becuase the gm keeps getting them good players, if they had a bad gm who got them bad players they'd totally be a worse team"
  6. i think he's on baltimore or jacksonville or something
  7. ron who? i was only at games to watch nick greisen
  8. i'm more of a madison wisconsin man myself

    NICE TEAM!

im sure you were just as outraged with your cowboys in the 90's
  10. he flew to minnesota to meet wtih the vikings after the giants broke off talks w/ him. i mean they wouldn' tmeet w/ him if they weren't somewhat interested
  11. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2004425 Ex-Raven Taylor also visits Minnesota Associated Press Updated: March 4, 2005, 3:34 PM ET Email Print EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- The agent for Pittsburgh receiver Plaxico Burress has had preliminary talks with the Minnesota Vikings about his client replacing Randy Moss. Plaxico Burress Wide Receiver Pittsburgh Steelers Profile 2004 SEASON STATISTICS Rec Yds TD Avg Long YAC 35 698 5 19.9 48 92 Michael Harrison told The Associated Press that Burress would not mind playing with quarterback Daunte Culpepper in Minnesota. ESPN.com has confirmed that the contact with the Vikings was initiated by Harrison. "Plaxico's interested in being in Minnesota," Harrison said. "I think it is a good fit for both sides." Also on Thursday, free-agent receiver Travis Taylor, a disappointment during his five seasons in Baltimore, visited the Vikings. Burress is the biggest name receiver left on the free-agent market. At 6-foot-5 and 226 pounds, the five-year veteran has the size and speed to get down the field and catch the fade pattern in the end zone, a Moss specialty over the past seven years. After Moss was traded to Oakland on Wednesday and third receiver Kelly Campbell was arrested on marijuana and weapons charges, Vikings coach Mike Tice said the Vikings are looking for depth at the position. If healthy, Burress would certainly provide more than that. His best season came in 2002, when he had 78 catches for 1,325 yards and seven TDs. But an injury last season and quarterback inconsistencies contributed to lower numbers in 2003 and 2004. Tice did not comment on Burress but said Taylor "was recruiting us, really," because he also wants to play with Pro Bowler Culpepper. Travis Taylor Wide Receiver Baltimore Ravens Profile 2004 SEASON STATISTICS Rec Yds TD Avg Long YAC 34 421 0 12.4 47 99 Tice said the Vikings' original plan did not call for them to look at offensive players this early in free agency, which opened Wednesday. They signed Buffalo defensive tackle Pat Williams late Wednesday night in an effort to shore up a mediocre defense. "We had a different strategy, but this young man is aggressively pursuing us. ... He's a fine football player. Very articulate young man, and dresses well," Tice quipped. In five years with Baltimore, the former 10th overall selection out of Florida had 204 catches for 2,758 and 15 touchdowns. "Travis Taylor is a player that is intriguing," Tice said. "He has not been explosive in this league. You look at that offense and see that not many people have been."
  12. well considering the majority of athletes are african american that's not much of an abberation or something that reasonable conclusions can be drawn from
  13. what you expect from someone is mostly based on what they've given you already
  14. well after czar mike made his little speech yesterday (guess he has nothing better to do, everything is swell here in the city) i take back my prediction
  15. my money's on him not spending a minute in jail or being suspended by goodell. i dont gamble though
  16. it's hard to tell w/ goodell. i still dont understand why matt jones (MATT JONES!) hasn't been suspended yet considering the fact that he was caught cutting up coke and is talking about drug rehab
  17. i agree, i like hixon too. i was just disagreeing that we are a better team w/o plax. i think that remains to be seen and can't be judged over two games w/o him
  18. i know, that's so weird. it's not like he was coming off one of the greatest post-seasons ever for a wr.
  19. he was obviously worth way more than what he received considering his immediate impact the first season he was here. the other teams were simply wrong to not offer him more than we did. why do you think it took so long for him to sign? he knew he wasn't receiving fair market value and luckily we benefited from that.
