  1. Also when it comes to recent NYG teams and the offensive line, I still don't know what the front office has been thinking for the past ten-plus years. The last great set of Giants teams had a great set of guys that stayed relatively healthy, but even with five guys that were quality-to-great players, they were always building on the back end. Oh shit, Chris Snee got hurt? No worries, we have Rich Seubert in reserve. Oh man, Diehl tweaked an ankle? Good thing we snagged Will Beatty in the 2nd a few years back. Kevin Boothe was a starter-level backup that we had on the team for years, and even the Shaun Andrews' of the roster were good to come in for two or three games and play at an average-to-above average level. At some point though we stopped building that way. The Boothes and Seuberts became starters and the backups became the James Brewers of the team. Eventually the Brewers became the starters and the guys we don't even remember became the backups. You don't build a championship team with five capable OL starters, you really need more like eight. I'd argue right now we have one. This offseason, signing less than one proven player on the OL, AND a quality backup, AND drafting less than two guys for the line is unacceptable. I don't care that we just wasted three picks on the line two drafts ago; those guys can't hack it. Keep building till you find guys that can; nobody is going to be upset if Ezeudu and Neal develop and all of a sudden we have seven good players there. We can't continue to have the entire offense go to shit whenever two guys get hurt.
  2. I read somewhere that the Giants needed these things to happen to have a chance to compete: Andrew Thomas healthy Evan Neal developed into a competent RT Jones to stay healthy Saquon healthy Waller to be healthy and contribute At least one interior o-lineman to take the next step Literally none of those things happened. When you're 0-for-6 like that I think you can expect these types of seasons.
  3. Honestly I feel a lot better about Barkley being here. Like... he can throw a pass. That's the bar for this team now. I had searched "Giants signing" news but nothing came up in the Google. Any chance we get a kicker next, or is the plan just to Coughlin the one we have until his career is ruined?
  4. Daniel Jones is our starter again, about three days after a report about weakness and numbness in the left side of his body due to his injury. His backup is the guy that we didn't want to throw a pass last week, at the one position where you're regularly asked to throw passes. Graham Gano has missed over a third of his kicks this season. He missed two-thirds last week and it directly lead to the loss. Reports have said it's due to a knee injury that will require surgery. Despite this, we haven't signed a veteran QB this week, nor have we pursued a kicker or put Gano on IR. I know it's slim pickins' at this point for players, but surely there's a QB available that we're confident having throw a pass, and a kicker available that can hit over 60% of his field goals. I'm not sure what the fuck this front office and coaching staff is doing. Are we actively trying to tank, or is this gross incompetence? I've moved from "hey this is kind of weird" to "I'm really concerned about the state of the front office."
  5. Usually when a player goes to another team and whatnot, I feel pretty ho-hum about it. However, I'm ecstatic for Antonio Pierce. I always loved that guy; not the most athletic, but got by on smarts, toughness, and tenacity. My favorite kind of player. I hope he has a long career as a coach in the league and would love to see him have success for the remainder of the season.
  6. Let him throw! Let him throw! Don't hold him back anymore!
  7. What the fuck kind of sense does this make? "I know... we'll have a QB who can't play take all the practice reps so that if the backup goes down, he still can't play but neither can the other guy because he didn't practice!"
  8. Wow, maybe Joe Schoen isn't a clueless asshole.
  9. The thing too is... if Jones had gone down, and then Tyrod in the same game or later on that week I could see it. You're more or less in an emergency QB situation there; you do what you can do. But Jones has been injured for three fucking weeks, and it's not like Tyrod doesn't have an injury history too. So the plan for that was "let's put in a guy at QB that we don't want to throw any passes?" This is criminal negligence by this front office and head coach. It's Gettleman/Judge level shit.
  10. These guys could fuck up a free lunch.
  11. And the third-string QB and pulling players off the street mid-season due to injuries. At this point in McAdoo's career too it was apparent that he was in over his head and was just a dumbass, and I don't get that from Daboll yet... but it's creeping in. Some of that play calling yesterday was atrocious. I didn't watch his postgame presser but since the media isn't clowning him I'm guessing he didn't say "we're gonna have to look at the tape" 40 times. Yeah we're not quite there yet, but if we start trotting out the Jake Fromms of the league in a few weeks we'll see what happens.
  12. Starting to feel a bit like Judge's second year.
  13. I don't think he trusted DeVito to throw the ball. What'd he have like 4 pass attempts today?
  14. He did? When was that? The sound was off at the bar we went to. I would have blamed the loss on Graham "the Cracker" Gano, whose next good game in bad weather will be his first.
  15. Will the Giants end up 4-5 in two weeks?
  16. I feel the same way. His first draft was objectively bad so far and his FA signings/trades have also been bad.
  17. And can't block. And can't catch. And can't field a punt. Dunno why that guy was on the roster.
  18. Bob Papa is literally the best play by play guy in football in my opinion. Back when I had Sirius in the early 2000s all the NFL games were free; I never realized just how much better Papa was than all the other guys till I heard them. You can really see in your mind's eye what's going on when he describes it
  19. "Yeah Carl Banks, what does that guy know... he was only an all-decade linebacker who's been involved with the sport at a professional level for 40 years!"
  20. Jashaun Corbin should have had Gray's roster spot in the first place.
