  1. I mean... we all know the way this is going to go. The Giants will find a way to win two more games, and somehow will have the lowest pick by some formula nobody understands... and will have to trade 3 first round picks to move up from 9 to 2 and get the QB they want. Seems to happen whenever we're in this predicament.
  2. That would be a horrible idea. These two looked good last year but how is anyone supposed to win with Tommy Fucking Devito and fourth string o-linemen?
  3. I'm not sure we're going to crack 100 yards of total offense this game.
  4. I fucking almost picked up Cooks too but went with Christian Watson because he was playing against the 29th pass D. Fucking asshole.
  5. My fantasy opponent has Ferguson this week. I'm really rooting for anyone else in the red zone.
  6. I just don't think he's the bar you aim for with your first round QB.
  7. I remember posting about this as well. Getty's presser was pretty much "this guy has the chance to be the next Eli Manning." Eli had a great career here, but let's keep in real... how many teams are looking for "the next Eli Manning?" The "next Joe Montana," yes. The "next Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Brett Favre," all yes. The "next Eli Manning?" He's an all-time Giants great, but on the bottom rung of all-time NFL greats, if that. For the next QB, I'd like to shoot higher than .500 career winning percentage as far as projections go.
  8. If they don't love anyone in this draft and wanna trade back 2-3 times to build capital for next season, that's not a horrible idea. I don't think the front office would be into that though. We're likely to have a top-5 pick and no QB to speak of; trading back only kicks the rebuild down the road another year, and if in year 4 with a rookie QB the team still isn't competitive the writing will be on the wall for Shoen and Daboll.
  9. I don't say this about many players that leave the team but I will be too.
  10. I just got wind of Williams' "crying in his mama's arms" after his last game. The NY Media will kill him the first time he does anything like that here. Definitely a big strike against him. You have to be mentally tough as shit to play here.
  11. I've made the very reasonable request to have Michael Penix Jr's name autocorrected to "Michael's Junior Penis" and the mods still aren't on it. This place has really gone downhill.
  12. That's funny... I did about 45 minutes worth of film study this weekend on Maye, and I came to the exact opposite conclusion. To me he looked much better at getting to his second read (and sometimes third) than Williams., the latter of whom seemed to stare down his first option and then dance in the backfield when that guy was covered (hell of a dancer though, to be fair; dude pulls a rabbit out of his hat like nobody else). Maye looks slow scrambling too, but has a hell of an arm. I'll know for sure once I've reached 50 minutes of film study on who to draft, so don't take anything out of this yet.
  13. Which do you guys like in the draft, and why?
  14. Only watched till about halfway through the second but until then it had looked like decent-to-good protection for the QB. Even Neal looked pretty good in the reps I saw.
  15. I agree 100% with this, but it's really more of an NFL problem and not a Getty problem. Look at Trey Lance. The dude was Colin Kaepernick, who was originally a mid/high 2nd round pick, but the Niners had to spend a #2 overall pick to have a shot at him. Is he even in the league anymore? QB FOMO in the league is real, and unless you have a top-5 pick in a year with a stacked QB class you're forced to overspend unfortunately.
  16. Worked out for Drew Brees pretty well, in a nearly identical situation assuming we draft a QB.
  17. Is there an injury clause? I know there's an out after year 2 where he's only a 7 million cap hit for two seasons.
  18. I said to my son and dad before kickoff that this game may be the last one of Jones's career.
  19. Yeah like... not for nothing, they DID try but after last season of being 0-for-3 with Neal, Ezeudu, and McKethan... and Glowinski and Bredeson also looking pretty bad... they should have said, "none of those guys looked good so let's bring in a few competent guys either through FA or the draft as a back up plan." The plan this year basically was "nothing last year worked out but hey let's hope" when it came to the line. Hope is not a strategy.
  20. The Tush Push in NFL Grind Time section of Sportswrath is really something.
