Did Girardi pull him after that botched fly ball? This was after he nearly cost us the game the nignt before when he went up the fence five feet from where the ball hit off Jason Bay's bat. Seriously, the guy's a hazard out there. I wondered all year how Girardi can replace Swisher with him for defense in late innings. He might have been good once, but he's a total joke now. He's got nothing on Mel Hall.
  2. One day Girardi takes him out when he should have left him in. Then another day, he leaves him in when he should have taken him out. I agree: F*&^ S^%@ C@CK SU@%$!!
  3. I don't know. It sure seemed sudden to me, just like with Sax and Knobby. I remember Clark as one of our better players of the era, and he was what, a .260 hitter? But he was a rally starter who could steal a few bases. I agree about Stots though. Would have been HOF on another team.
  4. Horace Clark? He started it. I wonder if they all used the same locker.
  5. Then he's still a bust.
  6. First of all, no one's better than Cervelli at this point. He's been super clutch, and the pitchers love him. Second, although you don't want to lose Jeter's, Arod's or Posada's bats from the line up, they are over the hill age wise. They can no longer take the grind every day. Posada particularly is becoming a hindrance behind the plate. You can also rest some of the younger guys, too, since they're more apt to break down mentally.
  7. He's hurting the team when you can DH Arod, Jeter, or Posada, all of which (whom) have high OBP's and can play a position without breaking. I swear, if George was younger, Cashman would have a size nine footprint on his ass for the deals he pulled off this winter.
  8. Worse than Fenway?
  9. Not too bad. Kind of an automatic out, but he hit a big homer the other day. He's not as good a fielder as I remember from when he played for whoever.
  10. Since he's still proving he's made of glass, it's time to cut him loose. We have Miranda rotting away in SWB and is well capable of filling in for Tex. That DH spot should be reserved for our old guys, anyway. Another thing, get someone up here who can spell Gardy once in awhile. That dude comes up lame, we're f'ked. Might want to put Posada on the DL and bring up Romine. I don't care how young Cervelli is. Playing the same catcher every day is asking for trouble.

    Cervelli

Cervelli is a brash kid that seems to thrive in clutch situations, not unlike Thurmon Munson. Only difference so far is, Munson tore up the minors. Montero is slated to be a slugger, but is rough defensively, not unlike Yogi Berra at that age. Romine is ready now, which shows how much it sucks to be a Yankee minor leaguer. The fact that he's tearing up AA ball is probably driving Cashman nuts.

    Cervelli

    Cervelli, Romine, Montero= dilemma.
  13. This one's gotta hurt. I know he wasn't hitting, but I like the way our OF as a whole was playing with him out there.
  14. The problem is, Hughes is on a pitch count. He can use Mitre to maybe give us 4 or 5 good innings. And, Marte? I don't care if he was good in the play offs. He otherwise sucks.
  15. The Mets hit first place and still no response. WTF!
  16. If Girardi has any compassion, he'd remove him from the rotation NOW, before his next start. Just sayin'.
  17. Some of those missed calls were shoddy glove work.
  18. He's an idiot! Seen on TV doing high kicks the day before he went on the DL with a hammy.
  19. It'll be a sin if they don't sign Werth. He may not have super star status, but he's way better than an average player that make things work. Sort of like a Paul O'Neil. What gets me about the Phills is they have a tremendous fan base on both sides of the Delaware. And, if you don't mind me making a pun, you people really are fanatics (Obnoxious, too, when you're winning ). But you need to win to keep selling those tickets. Why not spend the money to extend their first ever dynasty?
  20. I still miss Earl Weaver and Billy Martin. What I'll never miss would be freaking mandatory replays if they ever pass it.
  21. I think it used to be called the marsh lands when i was little. There had to be some reason the area wasn't developed for so long.
  22. Citi has all that heavy swamp air, too. I didn't know ATT was hard to hit 'em out.
  23. I don't know. Bay? Holiday? I'm sure there were others out there.
  24. AL East Yanks- Catching and OF concerns, but pitching pretty damn good on paper. Sox- helped themselves too much with Lackey. Hernandez will be harder to keep in the line up without benching Veritak. Rays-Come back team, but not enough O's- pitching? Jays- pitching? AL Central Twins Tigers Indians WSox AL West M's- Pitching Rangers- Young guys more experienced. Could easily flip with M's and surprise everyone. Angels- Lost too much even for Scoscia. Figs, Vlad, Lackey, Jr. A's??? Wild card- RSox NL East Phillies- Cheap bastards should have kept Lee. Assholes Mets- All the bad luck they had last year could mean they're set for the decade. Cheap bastards should have spent more on OF. Assholes2 Braves- Bobby Cox Marlins- Wash- NL Central Cards NL West Dodgers Giants- Cheap bastards should have bought some hitting. Assholes3 Wild Card- Mets WS- Yanks>Cards
  25. Yep! I saw that on the game yesterday. I'm not sure I'd like to keep Thames, though. I know he has some power, and they're saying he can hit lefties, but it sucked watching him not run out fly balls this spring. His stats the last 3 yrs
