  1. If the Yankeed didnt have Humberto Sanchez, then Id agree. Sanchez will most likely be the next closer for the Yankees.
  2. well, shit, they are a Lawn Guyland team. I pretty sure the prerequisites for living in Lawn Guyland are broken down in to these 4 things, you must be one of the following.....1) Be Jewish, 2) Be a guido, 3) Be a juice bag, 4) Play LaCrosse
  3. He plays in the Indpendant League for the Lawn Guyland Ducks....was hit by a pitch and charged the mound, bat in hand and hit both the pitcher and cather with his bat. He's been arrested and charged with second degree assault. Hope he does some time for this, not cool at all
  4. 2009 rotation should be Chamberlain, Hughes, Wang, Free Agent, Kennedy. With a pretty nasty bullpen of home grown/minor league guys like Mark Cougar Melancon, JB Cox and Humberto Sanchez, who will be the heir to Mo's throne. Possilby even Alan Horne can be in the mix as well. The you have Dellin Betances who should be not too far off by then, though I dont project seeing him before 2010...if he's up before then, that wont be good for many reasons.
  5. I hear you, but still, its not really a good example when these guys are night and day. Joba is a much better pitcher than Joe Smith.
  6. I was hoping he was headed to UNC....but thats just insanity. I hear you, looks like the Yanks are going ot have throw some heavy cake at Brackman and Angelini if they plan on keeping them
  7. eh, doesnt matter, he's a dead yankee legend. this ones for the scooter!!!!
  8. I can honestly say, you couldnt be more wrong. He should have won the cy young award in 2005 and that blown save in 2001 was not really his fault. I still have no idea why they would have the infield in that situation. Worse case scenario womack ends up on third with 2 outs.
  9. comparing Joba to Joe Smith is like comparing Pedro Martinez circa 1999 to Casey Fossum
  10. come on thats just silly, you must have missed the 2005 season where he was robbed of the cy young award.
  11. no, because he's struck out a few orioles, a few indians and a few blue jays. thats 8's k's in 5 innings while allowing one hit and 2 walks. he also struck out 140 in 88 innings in the minor leagues and absolutely dominated every level. Im not talking about putting up good number, his numbers in the minor leagues were downright unbelieveable; a man amongst boys if you will. He was also MVP of the Hawaiin league this past winter. Plus when 6 different american league scouts say that he has the best stuff in the american league and they say theyre aware that John Santana is in the league, then yeah, Id say he's not your average rookie. He is no falsh in the pan, this kid is the real deal...he's better than Hughes
  12. in the yankees last 31 wins, the opposing teams have averaged 3.7 runs per game. Now at the same time, in their last 8 losses, they have given up an average of 7.3 runs per game. So basically, yes they are getting it done with offense, but theyre also pitching pretty well too with the occasional hiccup...see wang last week in toronto. As far as Chamberlain goes, you have a valid point in saying that throwing a rookie into the fire at this point of season to set up is risky business, but Joba is not your average rookie.
  13. i dont get the ledger, but that article was in every paper in the country...Tim Kukjian was the only person in the media that never discounted the Yankees and not surprisingly, he's the only one with a brain at espn. he's by far the best espn has in any sport..greg anthony is a distant second. I have no idea what he's doing there still, he's way too good for them
  14. Rumor has it that Rick Porcello, their first round draft pick, signed a major-league contract and agreed to a 7.7M dollar bonus. Assuming Porcello makes the majors when he's 21 (not a big stretch, this kid is really good) they'll be losing his non-arbitration years. Insane money.
  15. Steve Phillips = Jackass. Seriously, the guy is a clown, how did he ever manage to land a genral managers job? Do not be surprised if the Yankees win the AL East by 10 games
  16. Phil Rizzuto died this morning, might as well hand the Yankees number 27 now
  17. I like him too, but his team is so incredibly bad to the point that Im leary he may not win any games
  18. you dont think SF is going to be good?
  19. I recall willie harris hitting a game winning triple off Mo in a big game a few years ago...my reaction was the same as yours..."Willie Fucking Harris, just hit one off the top of the wall off Mo?"
  20. Let me begin by saying that I like John and think he's a good pitcher.....BUT, like many young pitchers(even though he's not young in age, young in experience), I think he may be out of gas. I believe he is over his career high in IP and I beleive its taken its toll on him....and the fact that its the dog days and this type of weather takes its toll on all players adds to my worries on him. what do you guys think?
  21. scary thing is that joba possesses the same type of stuff...96-100 mph fast ball, 86 mlh slider...but Joba is much more polished lol
  22. at this point, id rather have henry winkler set up
