  1. Kansas City is actually a pretty good place for him to start. The whole organization has been rebuilt. He's coming off of hip surgery, might not even be interested in the HC position anymore. Take the KC job with people you know very well and who you've coached with in the past 10 years, a defense that you can mold, and low expectations over the next couple of years with some nice draft picks. Its a good place to land.

Sure, but Spags moved UP the coaching ladder. Romeo is moving DOWN. If he ever wants a shot at being a HC again he needs to be successful, and KC is not the best shot for that by a long margin. He'd just need the Giants D to perform mediocre and let the O continue to carry the team and he'd be the guy that took the Giants back to the play-offs. He can do the best job possible in KC and still be far from seeing any post-season action. It's just nuts.

  2. Well if Gilbride does find a better job elsewhere and the Giants have to replace him, they should promote Jerald Ingram. I think he's done a great job with the running game and he could put some balance back into the offense. I think he has a much better feel for the game tempo and how to utilize our players. No more passes to Hedgecock and hopefull rediscovery of our tight ends in the passing game.

  3. Your first point could simply be an agent being a good agent. His agent is simply using the Giants as leverage. Very similar to Warren Sap when he became a free agent and ended up in Oakland.

Crennel getting interviewed could be the Giants just following the Rooney rule. People were talking about the Giants going after Coughlin in late October early November that year and the Giants wasted no time after the season to bring him onboard.

There are quite a few former Giant assistant coaches floating around in the NFL, last time the Giants went to Philly to get a defensive coordinator.

I think there is a big risk in bringing in Crennel to coach a 4-3 defense since he's been coaching a 3-4.

All the scenarios with bringing in someone to groom for Coughlin's job are definitely funny.

    1. Crennel's agent has confirmed that Romeo is interested in the Giant's job.
    2. Crennel interviewed for the head coaching position with the Giants before Coughlin was hired.
    3. Crennel was a former Giant assistant coach.
    4. Judging from Mara's comments the other day, it's pretty clear that Mara is plenty pissed off. Replacing an inexperienced and obviously overmatched Sheridan with someone of Crennel's experience and roots with the Giants organization is hardly a risky move.

Given all that, I question why you would call this scenario "hilarious", especially given what Crennel's agent has said as recently as yesterday.

Granted it may not happen; in fact, it might be a canny move to drive up Romeo's price. But you seem to think this is nothing other than some sort of fan concoction, which is inaccurate.

What I think is hilarious is the notion that Dick Jauron would become head coach of the Giants. Given his track record with the Bears and Bills, it's pretty clear that Jauron's strong suit is defense, not Head Coach.

I don't think anything can be read into Romeo's tenure with the Browns, considering that organization has been hot garbage for years, and not even Bill Belichick had any measurable success there.

It's pretty clear to me that, given how the season has ended, everything needs to be looked at in a "how will John Mara and Bob Tisch think" mentality. Reese and Coughlin have job security, but not much in the way of leverage if their opinion doens't mesh with ownership. The Sheridan fire is a perfect example.

  4. It speaks volumes on how good of a job Gilbride has done when only three board members have a vague clue as to where or who the next offensive coordinator for the Giants could possibly come from or be.

Yeah Gilbride has his down right WTF did you just call moments but he is one of the reasons the Giants offense is fun to watch.

  5. If it was just about ypc, you might have an argument.

I do not think Ward was a huge loss (Average 3.6 yards per carry this year), the team was less committed to the run and less effective when they did decide to run it this season. I think the team going away from the run to the pass is a result of Eli becoming a better QB and Gil wanting to make him the focal point of the offense....

The offense did not exactly light it up the last two games either... a couple of garbage points late in a blow out.

  6. One of the things that bothers me about his statement to the press was he didn't know how many games they lost. Hell find me a fan who doesn't know that number. He's on the field and is as responsible as every single man on the team. Should post that number in the locker room, maybe that would have lit a fire.

Osi wants to stay, he needs to improve his game against the run. Hecan't count how many games they lost but can keep track of how muchtime he spends on the sideline instead of the field? :05-mafia:

You earn your position, its not handed to you for being a first day pick. He got demoted for a good reason and if he was on the field, the Panthers would have run an extra 50 yards on us.

  7. Well actually we iced the game because of the special teams touchdown and Eli played good enough to win but not having the best game?

Running game was fine. We won because we were clicking on all cylinders.

Sure they got their passes but the defense took them out of the game in the second half. You can focus on Witten having a good day or the Giants having a great day.

I think what they were looking at was the fact that Romo passed for nearly 400 yards, contrasted with Eli not having the best day. Not putting it all on Eli, because his receivers had about 5 drops. But our offense didn't look GREAT. We stopped their run effectively but they passed on us a great deal. Our running game was only OK. We won because we got a big special teams touchdown and Eli and the defense played good enough. One thing we did not do in this game and we haven't done it all year was stop the opposing TE from having a big day. We have to be close to last in the league when it comes to defending TE's.
