  1. I understand why the Vikings keep doing it to themselves. Everybody keeps thinking for the last few years that the Farve who kept Green Bay in the playoffs and competitive was the guy who they were getting. Green Bay saw Farve was done after our Giants beat them in the playoffs. The Jets saw the Farve who could take a team missing a QB and carry them to the playoffs.

Everyone keeps seeing what Farve used to be instead of who he is now. He hasn't been the winning factor these last few years but the reason why teams have failed. No way he comes back after this season.

I really believe Favre did not want to play, But he freaking should of said that in March. Not well if this plays out and that plays out and I feel better, and Minnesota should of said fuck you and moved on with a different QB, instead they went well we like Jackson and Rosenfals were are fine with them and without Favre. Only to send players to his doorstep two weeks before the start of the season. Minnesota was considered a great organization, I look them at kinda of laughing stock now, and then this Moss thing, Third Rounder for a guy you had two weeks? They are in more of a trouble then people think even going forward till next year, and where has Jared Allen been

  2. Its the reason why they are that loud. Nothing else to get loud about.

I think we take a loss in this one, something about getting a week off during the season throws our team off.

I still find it hard to believe that SEATTLE, WASHINGTON has the loudest stadium in the NFL.

What the FUCK do you guys have besides Starbucks, Space Needle and Grunge to be so loud about.

    That shits pumped in.

  3. I also see merit in this possibility. How long do you really see Cutler in Chicago? People are making the Jeff George comparisons again. Cutler being reunited with Shanahan could be possible, McNabb heading north to a team he can help and a system he would do well in.

I think Minnesota makes sense for McNabb....he has a few years left, and Childress was his old OC, so they would each have a comfort level. Plus, they have a defense and a running game.

  4. These things work because you have the right players for it. Its the reason why the wildcat works in Miami, they have the players for it. Its the reason why our defense works for us and wouldn't work for Miami, we have the players for it.

That tweener linebacker/safety has to be able to do two oddly hard to find things, cover and tackle. Quite a few linebackers can't cover a pass catching TE/RB. Plenty of safeties can't tackle.

We've been very fortunate that our safeties have been solid tacklers this season. Particularly surprised with Rolle coming in on run support.

Two entirely different scenarios. The wildcat was never seriously going to replace having a conventional QB behind center. A 4-2-5 defense with the fifth defensive back being a tweener LB/safety merely modifies the existing base 4-3 defense, it doesn't completely change it.

  5. Will that be a few days before or after the wildcat becomes a standard offensive package?

Given how pass happy the league has become lately and the availability of tweener LB/Safety players it only seems logical that defenses would start to focus on defending against the pass more. I wouldn't be surprised if the 4-2-5 defense became more of a base style defense.

  6. We're actually going out there and playing with 3 safeties.

For the first time since Ive watched the NYG, going on 24 years now, this is the first year that we play 2 pro bowl caliber safeties every time our defense comes on to the field. It amazes me what a difference it makes. Especialy when you have a D-line thats able to stop the run and pressure the QB the way we have been the last couple weeks. Its hard enough for a QB to handle pressure like that, only to look down field and find that our entire secondary is in a possible possition to make a play on the ball. Its suddenly very hard to find the open man. Last year we had 2 of the worst safeties in the league, and it was the worst Giants defense Ive seen in my life time. This year we got Phillips back, and signed Antrel Rolle and Deon Grant, and in 5 weeks have become the best defense in the league. Sure its early yet, but now that these guys are getting comfortable in the new system, I think this defense is gonna be lights out. And our safeties will be a huge factor.

  7. Wasn't Gilbride, it was Eli that made the third quarter strange.

The 3rd quarter was a little bizarre.

The G-Men are up by 3 touchdowns, and for reasons that escaped me, were still putting the ball up in the air.

I can understand not wanting to play too conversatively, but considering our running game was doing a nice job, and considering our defense was beating the shit out of the Texans, I couldn't understand not just running the ball.

I'm cool with calling a high percentage pass here and there, but if the play isn't there, just scamble a bit and slide down.

After the first pick, they dodged a bullet when the Texans turned it back over.

But, then, it's right back to the pass, and another turnover. When the score was cut to 24-10, all the old freak show Giant losses started up in my mind.

It was as if the Giants wanted to make things a little challenging.

I guess that's Gilbride just being Gilbride.

On the other side, it was awesome to see a complete lack of prevent defense the past two wins. Fewell is really punching up the right defensive button.

  8. I understand why they moved him over. Keep the continuity of Diehl and Seubert working together instead of putting in Andrews between them and getting the chemistry screwed up on the whole side of the line.

yes I found this a bit surprising as well. Rather see Diehl stay put and insert Andrews in his natural position at Guard w/ Seubert still sliding down to center.

The biggest impact of this, however, may be not having Andrews as our "blocking tight end".

ANYTHING that leads to more playing time for Travis Beckum hurts us as a team.

  9. Wow now they're picking on Jason Garrett. I still think he's a pretty damn good offensive coordinator.

Good thing talent and execution make up for lack of imagination, problem remains when the first two don't show up on sunday since the third is lacking.

  10. He did ok considering.

The real concern is now they are moving Diehl over too and Shawn Andrews could get the start at tackle.

    Shawn Andrews vs Mario Williams

We just can't handle success. Koets was doing a nice job in there too.

  11. Yeah that will happen when you expect a punter to last until he retires next year then find his replacement a couple of weeks later.

Meanwhile, the Giants are losing the field position game every Sunday.

  12. Gotta give him more time guys. Everyone is used to watching a veteran punter and well now you have to get used to watching a rookie.

He is going to settle down, it won't happen when you think it should. Matt will be just fine once he settles down and that just takes time.

  13. Wow this just makes me think if Carl Banks said it then everyone would have nodded approvingly.

Tiki Barber is not a bad guy for retiring before his legs gave out under him. He's not even a bad guy for being critical of the coach. Everyone is.

This thing about Coughlin losing his job is just the media doing its job, creating news. 1-2 isn't the worst start we've had and far from the best.

Really easy to sit back now after three games to say we beat the Carolina Panthers because they are arguably the worst team in the NFL right now. Don't forget they bitch slapped the team a few months ago.

Any given sunday people. Hope we make sunday the night the team turns it around and finds itself.

  14. Being really early in the season...there is time to turn this around. Aside all the fuckups which you can go to any other thread for, i was pretty happy with how well they moved the ball in the first half.

We can only hope someone steps up this week and does what only another player on that team can do...hold people accountable and light a fire under their ass.

On a side note, anyone miss the Coughlin of old? The good feelings Coughlin is fine but the prick deep down inside him needs to start grabbing people by the face mask.
