If they dumped the cash on Cofield instead of Bernard, I believe the 2011 season would look a bit more optimistic for the defensive line. Bernard had a better year than 2009 but Cofield was once again the best player on the field if you compared the two.
Linval spent most of 2010 on the bench which should encourage every Giants fan as much as the great Jonas Seawright did.

The QB class is only slightly stronger than the RB class. Point being that one shouldn't be taken with the first 15 picks.
Don't see much out of any of them.

I think he has bit more power than Ron Dayne but with even less speed. Looking forward to watching a game with him running for someone else.
you like Ingram? It's just hard to assess him at Alabama he was running through semi sized holes, there was no one close to him. I see him stop and then take awhile to get back his momentum, he is not fast and that could hurt him at the NFL level. We will see, the RB I really love is Jordan Todman out of UCON. Wasn't you. who called him the next
Ron Dayne, only shorter and with less power

He's a boom or bust player with character issues. Could be great, could suck but still has character issues regardless.
Damn, is he that good? If so, he could be worth it.

Just put Tempest is right in your Signature for a year and that'll be fine by me if he goes in the top 20.
I want to bet a dollar that Pouncey will be available at our pick... if you accept, you have to give me an address to mail it to, because I'm not doing that Paypal crap.
I'm hoping Pouncey goes to the Eagles.

Anyone ever see a draft where no Rb's go in the first round? This would be one because I just don't see Mark Ingram as a first round player.
Its just not a good class and he's the best.
-
I think Pouncey goes much higher than 27-32, we'll see though.

Why does money have anything to do with what round you pick a player? You're going to pay a first round tackle more money than a center. We have drafted a number of tackles that theoretically moves Diehl back to guard. Theoretically Guy Whimper would have been in the lineup or William Beatty would have been the starting left tackle last season. Reality kicked Whimper off the roster and found Beatty not ready.
Drafting a WR is a horrible idea. We need more help on the lines.
Tempest, Maurkice Pouncey is about the only 1st round rated G/C in the draft. However, there are several very good players at that position that should be available to us in rounds 2-5. Tackle is another story. After the first round, and even in the first round, some tackles will be taken that will be considered projects. There is a lot of talk about replacing O'Hara and Seubert. I think if we select a tackle in round 1, we improve both the tackle position and the Guard position because it theoretically moves Diehl inside. And as others have said, Castonzo can play guard as well, so it sets up nicely for a good competition. Besides, if you're going to pay 1st round money, it might as well be for a tackle, a position that commands more money than the interior linemen anyway.
From a GM's point of view, it makes absolutely zero sense to spend your first round pick on a guard/center and pay that player first round money when you have about 4 starting caliber tackles available at that time of the draft. I think we'd be better off drafting WR at 19 over a G/C, even.
That said, I wouldn't mind it at all if we addressed the interior line in the 2nd, but preferably, 4th or 5th round.
I can say this with near 100% certainty, the NY Giants will not draft Maurkice Pouncey. My guess he goes somewhere between 27-32.

I'd rather see him on the right side taking over for Kareem Mckenzie, or have you guys given up on William Beaty to knock David Diehl out of the LT spot?
I like the Castonzo pick and wouldn't mind going after Mike Pouncey either. We need two picks on day one for the offensive line and the other guy should be Stefen Wisniewski.
Seubert and O'Hara are just not going to last forever.

Umm, no. Its not even debatable. He's a workout freak, not an NFL caliber football player.

kinda like last season huh

Not gonna happen

If Tiki rushed for 1600 yds usually, probably would not have drafted Ron Dayne. So being that he did his best with Coughlin, I wouldn't expect him to get anywhere near that mark under anyone else.
With that being said, good for Tiki Barber.
Enjoy
Laughter is good for soul
so is a good cry as Tiki rushes for his usual 1600 yds and leads the hated Pats to yet another Trophy
you remind me of a woman...........never admit you are wrong about anything

Here are 4 Rb's who played at age 36 and their stats:
Marcus Allen (Chiefs), 1996 & 1997: 1,330 rush yards, 4.0 yards per carry, 20 TD
John Riggins (Redskins), 1985: 677 rush yards, 3.8 yards per carry, 8 TD
John Henry Johnson (Steelers/Texans), 1966 & 1967: 237 rush yards, 3.2 yards per carry, 3 TD
Joe Perry (49ers), 1963: 98 rush yards, 4.1 yards per carry, 0 TD

When the CBA gets settled, then you'll see who wants him. I still don't know who would since history and time are working against him.

Some how, I just don't see Osi Umenyiora as a grossly underpaid player who has not been treated well by the New York Giants or the NFL.
You want to talk about grossly underpaid and ill treated workers, you see one in the mirror and every other person you see. What Osi makes in 2012 would lift over 200 families of at least 3 members above the poverty line.

I guarantee you the inbetween is not a 50/50 split.

Can we start taking bets on how long it lasts? I back neither side in this and they should take as long as necessary to get a deal everyone can live with done. I'll gladly give up this season and more if in the end we get a healthier NFL system for both owners and players.
-
No deal will get worked out by midnight. Players will get locked out, whether or not we miss any regular time during the season is anyone's guess after midnight.
One thing I would like to see is an expanded roster. At least 10 more roster spots across the board.

Do recognize that jack creates most of the interest in this mb. Ya just want to rail against the stupidity of his posts half the time and shake your head the rest. jack is whats makes a mb in the offseason when the rival team fans realize their team sucked too.

But Antonio Pierce, the former Giants linebacker, says his old teammate won't add much to the locker room of any team that decides to add him in terms of leadership.
"I didn't get a chance to get to know who Tiki Barber was the person," Pierce said. "I know him as a player and the guy was great and we always congratulate each other, the way we played."
"But what he did in that locker room my two years with him, he didn't do anything but deteriorate that team," Pierce added. "And he didn't help us out. I don't see this guy as a leader or somebody that can help you out. And that's my problem with him. That is why I believe they [the Giants] will release him because he is going to cause nothing but problems for that team."

Yeah nothing like the fire of being broke to inspire you to play football again.
I wonder if the people who want Plaxico back also want Tiki back.

Guess it was time for common sense to kick in.

What makes you think they don't plan on re-signing Steve Smith? Remember this is a year different from the previous ones. Who's gotten a long term contract in the past two years? Reese isn't handing out any until the CBA is settled.
Also with the franchise tag you can just use it until you get a contract worked out so you don't have to pay them top 5. Although there is the gamble that they'd refuse a new contract and just want the top 5 for 1 year contract. Considering the Giants have made no real attempt to sign Smith I think they don't care if he walks. To be honest with how cheap the Giants have been this season I think they don't care if all the FAs walk.

I'm surprised nobody has knocked it yet and wished we got someone else. Might be the first time in quite awhile.
