  1. Free Agents Nate Solder 4 years, $65mm Patrick Omanah, 3 years, $15mm Spencer Pulley, 3 years, $8mm Cam Fleming, 1 year $3.7mm Jon Halapio (minimum base contract) Draft Will Hernandez (2nd round, #34 overall 2018)
  2. If the only FA OL we get this offseason is one so-so Guard who's barely an improvement over Hernandez, then we're in deep trouble this season....especially assuming we're cutting Zeitler because his cap # is $14mm.
  3. Yep. Remember Phil Simms took like 6 years and several injuries before he came into his own. Now, you have teams like Miami who are ready to give up on Tua after like 6 games. Jesus!
  4. It's interesting. What's the % of 1st round QBs who have flopped? I bet it's like 50/50, or something close to that. Also, I wouldn't call Luck, Tannehill, Stafford, Newton and Goff flops though.
  5. Yeah something like this needs to happen. Zeitler is on the downside of his career, nowhere near worth the $14mm, but we need a steady starting veteran G and he should have at least 1 yr left, so restructuring makes sense. If we go into the season relying on Solder, Hernandez, Peart, and/or Lemeuix as starters, then I fear we're doomed. You can get away with having one of those guys start if the rest of the OL is solid but not two or three. If we're drafting slater, it might make the most sense to have Thomas and Peart as tackles, Gates as C, Zeitler at RG, and Slater at LG. I also still wonder if Peart is better suited at LT while Thomas at RT because of the athletic ability of Peart exceeds Thomas.
  6. Brady had a good game, but to me the Super Bowl MVP of the Buccaneers was the Chiefs defense (i.e. all the boneheaded penalties)
  7. It would be great to see them underproduce with our garbage OL.
  8. That would be possible with a good OL, which the Giants aren't even close to.
  9. No because we likely don't have a competent offensive line after free agency, and will need to use premium picks if we want any chance at one. Without an OL, Harris would be a wasted pick. Look at the OL Harris is running behind. Can we please put together an OL
  10. Lemuiex flashed at times but also had some serious gaps in his game last year; very inconsistent. Gates was only okay. You can get away with having a guy like Lemuiex on the OL if 3-4 of the guys around him are solid, which in our case they are not. If we surrounded Thomas and Gates with additional quality lineman, at least two additions, I'd feel a lot better. We really need three. And if we go into the season with Hernandez, Lemuiex, and Peart all starting on the OL, then we're fucked. We need to make some significant improvements or else it'll be another lost season. I just don't see DG bringing in good OL or drafting OL high.
  11. Giants OL sacks by year (+16 sacks and 9 spots worse vs 4 years ago): 2017: 34 (21st) 2018: 47 (23rd) 2019: 43 (19th) 2020: 50 (30th) Giants OL Sack % (+3.5% and 19 spots worse vs 4 years ago): 2017: 5.3% (12th) 2018: 7.46% (20th 2019: 6.62% (14th) 2020: 8.82% (31st)
  12. Bad teams don't magically get good though. You actually have to improve the team. We currently don't have an OL we can win with.
  13. DG is on year four and the OL is poised to be trash once again. I doubt he brings in any prominent free agents on the OL. He'll likely bring in backup players of the caliber of Cam Fleming, Spencer Pulley, Patrick Omanah, and he'll expect them to be reliable 16 game starters.
  14. Many writers, fans, etc, and from all indications many in the org are banking on Saquon to dramatically improve this offense. I hope he does return to form. But if DG and Co think our team will be magically better without a starting capable OL next year, then they're sorely mistaken. My concern is they do little to nothing in free agency to improve this OL. Even if they draft OL's high, that's not enough; if we go into 2021 having only added OL through the draft, then we're in for another ten plus loss season. You've also pointed out that there aren't many great OL options in free agency, which makes me even more dejected about 2021. If they somehow draft OL rounds 1 and 2 or 3 (high draft picks), I might be feel somewhat better about the offense, but I highly doubt DG does this.
  15. Do you think, and is DG and others in the organization acting like Barkley is a key component of this team's success in the future? There are many people who are under the delusion that we need Saquon to win, and I believe DG and many in the organization are counting on him.
  16. Huh? "So I don't know what you mean about building around a RB." The teams to win championships in the last 20 years have done so without top tier RBs, possibly with the lone exception of Marshawn Lynch.
  17. With a RB by committee. No-one builds around one RB. You can extend my post to all four conference championship this year. We're the only dumbass franchise trying to build around the RB position, and doing so without an offensive line.
  18. He tore his Achilles. We better replace him at this point, had better not go into next season expecting him to be a starter.
  19. Once again, for 20 years in a row, the Conference Championship Winners and Super Bowl contenders have only modest talent at RB, and don't have offenses centered around the RB position. They also have good, quality offensive lines. That is all.
  20. Another interesting factoid on this. Between the years 2010 - 2017, the giants did not draft a LB in the 3rd round or higher....in 8 fucking drafts, lol. They are the ONLY franchise in the NFL which did not draft an LB during that 8 year span in round 3 or higher. Even in 2018, the sole LB draft pick round 3 or higher was Lorenzo Carter in the 3rd round, a guy who's marginal and on the verge of busting out. So in the last 10 years of drafts, we've drafted one LB...Lorenzo Carter.
  21. Your giants starting LBs by year (aka, Jerry Reese hates the LB position): 2012: Keith Rivers Chase Blackburn Michael Boley (was good) 2013: Keith Rivers John Beason (was good this one year) Spencer Paysinger 2014: Mark Herzlich Jameel McClain Jacquian Williams 2015: Devon Kennard Jasper Brinkley JT Thomas 2016: (interestingly, we actually had a good overall defense this year, but the LBs were still crap) Devon Kennard Kelvin Sheppard Jonathan Casillas
  22. Post cuts, at the start of free agency, I think we'll essentially be at ~$30-32mm in cap space available, with Leonard Williams and Dalvin Tomlinson as key free agents. This means we probably only have enough cap space for one "major" free agent signing (which might be Williams), cannot afford both Williams and Tomlinson, plus we're likely going to be entering the draft with three gaping holes on the offensive line. I'd like to reiterate: Solder, Hernandez, Cam Fleming, Spencer Pulley....all are DG duds. Zeitler was an okay acquisition. Plus again, it's the OL moves DG did NOT make which bug me as well. I bet the offseason plays out like this. Leonard Williams 5 years $80mm WR Curtis Samuel 3 years $25mm Rest of FA acquisitions are depth signings / scrubs. Draft TE Kyle Pitts or best WR available in the 1st round. 2nd round, pass rusher or CB. Once again, we have no OL to support this team. 6-10. Idiot DG relies on Hernandez at RG, Lemieaux at LG, and Peart at RT. We're fucked.
