  1. Oh my...the dog doesn't even know where to start with this statement. Classiest fans in the league indeed...
  2. The dog isn't trying to dispute you, just saying, when you describe the linebackers and half the starting secondary as weak, not to many d-coordinators are going to be overly successful. That leaves the d-line. Tuck has been injured all year, Osi is oft injured and really is more of a pass rushing specialist overall anyway, and while JPP is a natural talent that is flat out nasty, he still has a lot to learn...emphasized by the fact that apparently (the dog didn't get to see all of the game) Dallas focused much of their run attack at him, and the results were pretty positive in dallas' favor. This gets lost in the shuffle because of the huge plays he made (ie the safety, forced fumble and blocked fg) . The dog is just making a possible point, and that is, it is easy to judge the coaching hut the talent level and inexperience may just be impacting his ability to call defenses he may want to call...
  3. So, in one breath you're saying there is talent on the defense and Fewell isn't getting enough out of that unit, and in the next you are speaking negatively about 50% of the secondary and the linebacking core? The dog thinks the issue is that people continue to overestimate the talent here, and the fact is the coaches get heat when they actually just might be doing more with less over the last few years...
  4. Why is that shocking? Both have a better record, and both have been winning as of late, relative to the giants who are 1 - 4 in their last 5...the dog hates power rankings, but that is accurate...
  5. Ok, the dog typically doesn't bother with your posts, but really, you all need to get a thicker skin when it comes to little eli. Not sure where you are reading a knock on him, but the dog suggests therapy to work through the bizarre feelings you are having...

the dog is going on record to tell you that based on what has been observed from both teams, neither one of them has any chance of "running the table"...these teams will have to rely on everything going near perfect for them, as well as having things go wrong for the opponents...in 3 straight games. Not going to happen. Lightening in a bottle is just that, and doesn't come around twice.

with all due respect, the dog is looking at a defense that has yet to play very well in just about every game this year (the dog can't think off hand when they played well for an entire game on defense, the second eagle game being probably the best performance, which culminated in an 18 play drive that was allowed to vince young), and not seeing any potential of winning in the playoffs, at least not more than a game, let alone 3.

without seeing the game in its entirity, this is what the dog took away from last night...whichever team represents the NFC East will be no serious threat to going far in the playoffs...those defenses were putrid for both teams, and the dog doesn't see either of them fixing any of it in the upcoming weeks...it goes back to what the dog said weeks ago - the NFC East rep will be a placeholder in the playoffs...
  9. unfortunately the dog wasn't able to see the entire game last night, but the few plays where little eli threw on the run was the most impressive aspect that the dog saw of him last night in the sense that it was something that in the past had been an area of weakness...
  10. The dog is not sure what the "point" is in either case, but since NE is the only team to date that has a winning record that the giants have beaten, then by all means keep pulling it out. Come back wins against losing teams in every other win doesn't make for a very intriguing resume. They are very fortunate that they play in that mediocre division where anything can happen.
  11. the dog could argue the following relative to your points: 1. NE is the only team with a winning record that they have beaten, and as you say, it is the NFL... 2. Taking SF to the wire and losing doesn't impress anyone, especially when you factor in the reverse: Needing to come back in the end and edge the following teams: Philly, Arizona, Buffalo, Miami (all losing teams) 3. The dog won't go down the "we were robbed" rhetoric any further...it is just plain false thinking... 4. The team lost to the skins and seahawks (the dog won't argue your point there) 5. The teams one lone win where a second half comeback was not needed was against the lowly Rams at home, and that wasn't exactly a pretty win. 6. The team was destroyed by NO, and physically abused by the eagles... That being said, Sunday's game is up for grabs. Both teams have demonstrated weaknesses that can't be hidden.
  12. if they have been upgraded on the statistical side, the dog would guess it is because brees and rodgers were too busy throwing for excessive yardage and scores...
  13. wow...well the dog for one is thrilled that the NFL saw fit to grant it a super bowl then...that should be a real treat for the fans. watching two teams slop around in lousy weather in a stadium monstrasity...

Nas, with all do respect, the giants didn't win the game. Missed calls happen and are unfortunate ( the dog is talking the Jennings catch not the Ballard). But in the end, you have 58 seconds to stop them from going 80 yards. You have a poorly thrown pick 6. You have a QB who on an off day threw for over 300 yards and 4 tds. The giants gave an effort, but they lost the game. Your argument might be stronger if you had a better team in the giants losing, but you have a team that lost to Seattle at home...lost to the eagles at home...were butchered by the saints...have beaten only one team with a better than 500 record....they lost the game. They had chances to overcome whatever bad calls you want to stretch....they didn't. The good news for you is the NFC has gotten weaker, and the playoffs are still possible.

Exactly...unfortunately weak officiating will happen throughout the league every week. The dog is pretty sure every fan base can watch their team play and find missed calls every game. In fairness to the officials, they are right way more often then they are wrong, it's just that everyone focuses in on the couple of missed calls. The great NFL conspiracy against the giants doesn't exist.

the dog does always get a kick out of it when the giant conspiracy theorists come out in full force...anyhow, the jennings catch to the dog was suspect, but stop wasting time on the ballard catch. the still pic looks like he was in, but the still pic is taken when the knee is still in the air, despite the fact that it looks otherwise...check the video...in fact, watch the video on the link below, and if you are able to, pause it at exactly the 28 second mark...you will see the moment the still pic was taken...then inch it forward a full second, and you will see when his knee actually hits the ground...out of bounds. again, the jennings catch to the dog was shaky, or maybe it is because the dog just doesn't get that rule, but this was not a TD catch... http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/09000d5d824c71fd/Ballard-s-catch-a-touchdown
  17. Ha Ha Ha...as oppossed to taking someone who still uses the word "whimp" as a legitimate term for an insult seriously? the dog loves it...too funny.
  18. the dog agrees on that then...the dog misread, as it was suggested to run the hurry up and throw every down earlier in the thread...
  19. this just doesn't work in the NFL...the dog thinks people get caught up with the fact that a team looks efficient running the hurry up offense in the final minutes of a half or game, or as a change of pace. the circumstances are completly different. good teams will adjust to this style of play all game. without the threat of a run game, being one dimensional leads to losses. as weak as the giants run game has been, they still need the threat of it, which they do have. running a hurry up offense, while it may lead to quick points at times, also leads to quick three and outs, and the last thing the giants want to do given that they are playing the packers and have two games with the cowboys (who can also score points quickly) is put the defense on the field for extended times...

    Leadership

the dog believes this to be true...on that note, the dog wonders how the giants have done against the redskins and dolphins this year? can't recall those games...
  21. ksm7

    Leadership

the dog just doesn't think it is in his nature, and having him be something he is not comes off wrong (it was around this time last year when fighting for their playoff lives that he stepped out of character and opened his mouth to give a rousing and motivating locker room speech prior to the packers game, where he then responded by throwing 4 picks and the team responded by losing big). the jacobs issue is the pinnacle of the leadership debate. for all his negative talk, did anyone on the team grab him and tell him to shut his mouth when they were winning? if so, clearly it wasn't respected, b/c still hasn't stopped. someone has to step in and try and pull some deeply hidden pride from this team. if it is kiwi as joe suggests, then so be it. the options seem limited. and the dog agrees with you, that at some point, it has to move beyond leading by example. the dog actually likes tuck as a player, but listening to him the other night, the spark is gone. injured or not, he can't lose sight of his second role beyond d-lineman, and that is captain...
  22. the dog wonders which player it will come from...if any. listening to tuck on the fan tuesday was akin to listening to a 7 year old tell his guidance counselor that the family had to put his dog down the night before...so the defensive captain might be out as far as leadership goes right now... perhaps the elite offensive captain/QB will play a couple of extra, well thought out practical jokes in the locker room this week, as is his reported leadership style, but the dog's not so sure that will get the job done.... maybe jacobs will do what he has done his entire career...shoot off at the mouth, tip toe his way to 1.5 yard per carry average, eventually get a huge hole to run through, run extremely hard with just a 190 pound d-back in front of him and run him over...then get up and jump around like a wild animal that was just tazed when the team is still down by two scores...of course, that saw limited success last week... maybe rolle will tell us all one more time that "at the end of the day," they prepare well and play hard and they will get it right...that's been a few weeks though.... so the dog wonders, if they are going to pull off the upset this week (and get this, the dog doesn't think that is impossible), it is going to take someone to step up in a leadership role...the dog isn't sure they have anyone on the roster to do this, but you never know...
  23. the dog hasn't heard anyone call someone a "whimp" since the fifth grade...perhaps you should take his lunch money during recess as well...too funny. getting a tad edgy around here.
  24. the dog misses his keen insight already...perhaps the torch will be passed to peephole...
  25. really? when the dog first read the thread title, the dog thought this was fish's declaration of how he enjoys eating mini-burgers during the second half of games, which, the dog believes, would have been a more informative post...
