  1. looking at the scores during that time period, the giants hold an 11-9 edge in wins...the dog is just saying, wasn't all that one sided...
  2. 100% accurate on all acounts. the dog has chosen to no longer respond directly to him, and merely enjoy the entertainment from afar...
  3. and 12 more TDs...the dog is just saying, a very strong argument can be made for a pro bowl roster of rodgers, brees and stafford...
  4. and we all know pro-bowls are a legit measure...but let's take that into account for arguments sake, the dog wonders, how is matthew stafford not the third QB in? better numbers than eli across the board...lead his team, a consistent loser for over a decade to the playoffs and a better record than the giants playing in a better division...did it with johnson and what else?? and the dog questions the weapons argument when it comes to brees and brady, brady in particular.
  5. this has been the dog's point throughout this whole debate. you named the current elite QBs in the league today. elite is a status that the dog throws around haphazardly...
  6. yeah, the dog's not really sure how so, particularly if the giants get knocked off this weekend. the passing yards thing is good, but nothing that separates him from the pack, and the dog isn't really sure what the record for 4th quarter TDs is suppossed to indicate, but in both cases, it doesn't shine the resume up to elite status.
  7. the dog has an issue with any owner coming down and meddling with the players/coaches during a game. however, the dog doesn't agree that players should make the decision when it comes to playing injured. esiason says regularly that you have to sometimes protect the players from themselves. most players are going to say they will play when injured...sometimes you have to step in because you see the big picture as a coach.
  8. the dog's point was already made effectively...that was just additional information that further supported the dog's point...thank you for the compliment as well...
  9. ahhh...winning the NFC East (a division that ranks slightly ahead of the AFC West and just below Conference USA in terms of quality) certainly has everyone feeling giddy this week. The dog sees the self-proclaimed fair weather super fan has created a thread, and now of course the little eli is elite thread is out in full force. the dog wonders where this thread was two weeks ago following a critical game against a division opponent, but perhaps the three interception performance had everyone sitting back and waiting for the next week, when a critical win was higghlighted by a 9-27 performance. god bless victor cruz and his ability to convert 5 yeard hitches to 75 plus yard TD runs. anyhow, the dog will stand on what has been said in the past. this has been a good year for eli, but elite it is not. he is now turning toward the final stretch of his career believe it or not, so we'll see if he can maintain consistent production over that stretch. a good playoff run would go a long way in the dog's mind this year, but to be fair, after round 1, it gets pretty rough from there...
  10. That was the dogs point...if Detroit upsets NO and NY beats the falcons, NY goes to SF...otherwise it is academic...
  11. The dog would say the falcons are the better match up. Detroit can put up 40 in a hurry, and their defense while not spectacular creates turnovers and has scored a lot on that side of the ball. Atlanta is decent but you can get a shoddy offensive performance out of them on any given week. Regardless, this match up in the dogs opinion gives them the best chance of getting out of round 1 ...round 2 is academic unless Detroit upsets NO...
  12. Wait, so kitna is out also? The dog didn't even realize this. All the more reason to sit romo, since you need to have two QBs available for the giants...this is a no brainer argument having to be made with someone who may not have a brain...
  13. Anybody can beat the giants, but it is easier to do with your starter. The dog doesn't see anything about Rodgers having concussion like symptoms, but if he did and finished a game against chicago, well then that was stupid on GBs part. And now the dog is officially done trying to argue this point with someone who clearly doesn't understand sensible decision making....feel free to have the last word to make whatever point you are trying to make. You would be flying solo on this one...
  14. of course players risk injury, but he was already injured...there's a difference. the dog doesn't understand this and so will stop trying to make the obvious point. sitting an injured player to have access to that player the next week in a must win makes more sense then playing an injured player increasing the potential for more serious injury in a game that doesn't carry the same level of importance than the following week. you stick with your hypotheticals, the dog will stick with his. your ifs are just as iffy as the dogs...paint it however you want. if rodgers or brady or brees had some type of injury, then the coaches would be cautious playing them in a game that may only determine playoff seedings. you know this, but your fandom prevents you from looking at it intelligently. your hatred for a team is blurring your objectivity. that is the dog's opinion. enjoy the game...the dog is sure you would enjoy it more had the cowboys played romo further last week and he ended up breaking his hand and had to sit out this week...that would have given you ammo to say how stupid they were playing him in that game...
  15. if you think advancing your seeding or getting home playoff games is not important, that is your opinion. while number 6 seeds are winning superbowls, it is the harder road and not one teams want to go down. thus, if healthy, key players will play. here is the key point in what you stated...IF HEALTHY. the dog has pointed out time and time again that if dallas bagged the game that is wrong. sitting a key player who is injured to avoid potentially a more significant injury is smart so that you have that player the following week in a game you know you have to win is smart and makes sense. you are all confused.
  16. Ok, let the dog slow it down for you, because, well, that only seems right. A healthy Rodgers played two weeks ago when GB was playing for an unbeaten season, and continued to play last week since GB was still playing for the umber 1 seed. NO, SF and the Pats are still playing for seedings. Last week NO was still playing for the division. This is all fact, not opinion. Sitting an injured player in a game that is not a must win to ensure that player plays the next game in the must win game is smart. Teams do it all the time. Again, why you struggle with this the dog will never know. Sitting your key player to ensure you have him in a must win is smart. And by the way, your whole argument is based on an if...if Atlanta loses to TB...if, if, if...why not play for what you can control.
  17. The dog isn't defending the cowboys if they blew the game off, but the dog will defend playing a key injured player for 3 quarters against a nasty pass rush risking further injury that would prevent him from playing the next week in a win and your in scenario. Why are you struggling with that so much? If you had watched football much, you would know that Rodgers and the packers were playing for an unbeaten season up until two weeks ago, and home field throughout up until last week...and he's healthy. Here's an "if"...play hurt against the eagles and hope to not get injured, because as you say, IF the bucs manage to pull together the last week of the season and beat the falcons, you can get in without beating a crappy division rival...if, if, if...
  18. if the cowboys laid down thinking it was a meaningless game, that is one thing. but the dog doesn't get the notion that it made no sense to pull their starting QB after a hand injury with 3 1/2 quarters to go against a defense that puts heat on the QB regularly in a game that you don't have to win to get in. if they kept him in and somewhere in the third quarter he took another hit to the hand and ended up breaking it, you would be on here saying how the genius princeton boy coach made a stupid decision keeping an injured romo in to try and win a game that they didn't have to win...you may deny it now, but you would. never the less, the dog will stand on what he has said since week 4...the NFC east rep in the playoffs is a placeholder...possibly get lucky round 1 against detroit, or maybe beat a lesser opponent in atlanta, but beyond that, they are merely a stepping stone, regardless of which mediocre team with a high school defense gets in...
  19. the dog will have to agree with you here. this seems fairly lame. not sure if other teams do this, but can imagine some might. that being said, you have essentially the first round of the playoffs being played Sunday night, and as an organization you have to spend time creating a message begging fans to be loud? seems silly. places like NO, KC, Denver, Philly, Pittsburgh...etc...never have to beg fans to be loud. perhaps if the team would go out and play with intensity on a consistent basis, the fans wouldn't enter the stadium on edge over whether or not they were going to get see a team that has some fight in it or a team that is going to sluggishly cash in the effort...
  20. The dog doesn't think it is disrespecting little eli at all. It is a coach giving props to his QB who has played well in helping the team in position for a number 2 seed when nobody would have given them too much hope for the playoffs this year... And gmenroc has an excellent point...how did stafford get passed over? Better numbers than eli, more wins...shaft. Must be an NFL conspiracy...no doubt the officials have conspired against him as well. Dirty, dirty league...
  21. Wow, the dog thinks this is a fascinating debate. Why not leave at this... Hlb has point. The game wasn't meaningless. Beyond that, it made no sense to play romo after the injury, nor did it make sense to play other injured players. Like bad egg says, whichever mediocre team decides to play a hair better Sunday gets in. The dog has said since week 4, the NFC east rep in the playoffs this year is a placeholder at best. If you think this is lightening in a bottle part two, it is time to wake up. On their best day, neither team beats GB or NO on the road...Detroit is a stretch at home...
  22. The dog agrees. What coach isn't going to make the argument that his QB who had a good year and lead the team to a 12-3 record out of nowhere should be in? If the giants would need to use this as motivation should they get in the playoffs, so be it, but that would be a ridiculous stretch and would sound just plain silly...but then again, big bad Brandon Jacobs is so ignorant he probably would take this and run with it...
  23. Toooooo easy... The dog likes how predictable you really are...
  24. Do you think the dog is overly concerned about what the same "random dudes on a football message board" image of him is?
  25. wow, it has been three years...time is moving way too quickly for the dog....never the less, the dog still thinks he deserves another year (although probably won't get it). the issue with the constant coaching changes is that it can set teams back even further. the dog agrees that the margin of error is tight for coaches, but starting over after just three years can be dangerous as well...
