xxi-xxv
to congratulate the Phillies on what will be another NL east championship(which btw I said all along they would win). They may not have the better roster, but ultimately the Mets bullpen did them in. Sure wish we had Lidge, we might have won by 10 games(anyone see that thing on ESPN where the Mets would be 12 up if games ended after 6 and 8.5 up if they ended after 8?) Mets may still get the WC, but who really cares, they suck and the pen will just blow even bigger games. Thanks but no thanks. Again congrats Phillies, maybe this year they will fare a bit better in Ocober, I sense they will with a better closer.
Allstarjim
I will reserve my congratulations to the Phils after they've sealed the deal... which I admit, seems almost a certainty.
jranieli
Where is Argenis Reyes? I am so fucking sick of Castillo. It's either a strikeout or a doubleplay. Now A.Reyes does not hit well but he provides a spark to the team and plays better in the field. This team just does not respond with Castillo in the lineup. The record does not lie. I think the team is 2-6 with Castillo in the lineup since Easily went down. Don't take that stat is fact but the record fucking sucks.

gateb
There's a guy in the Mets dugout who looks just like Willie Randolph. It's scary actually. Anyone else notice this? I first saw him in the second week of september.

xxi-xxv
This team is an absolute disgrace. I do not know how if you are an upper management member of this organization you do not set out to rid this team of the filth that has now done this 2 years in a row, it may mean a real housecleaning. This is actually fucking comical. I almost wish they kept WIllie and played .500 all year.
Allstarjim
Naw, it's not that bad. Their troubles start and end in the bullpen. We could use a better 2b, but what's dogging this team is a bullpen that throws batting practice.
Lubeck
Allow me to be the first one, the first Yankee fan, to say that it is better to be in the hunt than to be out of the hunt. If you guys had a bullpen you would be running away with the NL East.

gateb
i honestly dont give a shit if its a total fluke and miracle, i want to see the mets take this division and have those 45,000 towels at citizens bank park stuck right up every single fan's ass. i got nightmares on game breaks every single day last year with those fucking towels, and i have absolutely not intentions of seeing it again. fuck what the stats show, fuck the rosters, go out there take 5 straight and put the phils in 2nd. gateb
love the spirit GATEB, maybe Santana can pitch every night he's really been something this year hasn't he? i know all of us were kinda iffy on him around july but he has actually been better than what i thought we were getting when we made the trade. with the likes of mo vaughn, bobby bonilla, etc. in our history it's so refreshing to see a guy like johan live up to the hype. just one more big start... Let's do it! Only 1.5, only one down in the loss column. It can be done! XXI, seriously, Church is a good ballplayer. He's going to make a fine RF for the Mets for years to come. I would say the .190 is the result of a small sample size and the fact that after the 7th opposing managers have the freedom to put more lefty on lefty matchups against him, as well as he's facing some pretty good closers around the league. The guy has won us some games with his bat, don't know why you like him. But if he's the 4th OF, who's ahead of him? Murphy doesn't have the pop, and he'll play LF anyway. It's not Evans, who's not a good enough outfielder to play RF. It's Church, and I think Murphy and Evans in LF for the foreseeable future (in 2009). Church is ok in my book, and I would not be surprised to see him put up 30+HR's and 90+RBI's next season. What do you think about picking up Delgado's option for one more year? Yay or nay? We can plug Murphy there but then I think we need to spend big bucks on a right handed hitting power hitter for everyday LF.

Bottom line is he is a career 270 hitter, is so bad vs lefties you almost need to pinch hit for him in LISP's and IMO when that happens you are not an EVERYDAY player. You may be one on this team, but you are not. AJ why do you think he can put up 30 and 90 WHEN HE HAS NEVER DONE IT? I could see if he were a 23 year old just coming into his own, he is soon to be 30 and HAS NEVER DONE IT. I am sorry we Met fans so overrate our players. Is he a good player? Yes. Can you live with him everyday with 2 of your 3 outfielders as legitimate everyday players? Has he ever shown through results or his health to be an everyday player? No, not even close. Murphy will be playing somewhere on this team everyday in 2009. My hope is to get a stud everyday LFer and have Church in right for 125-130 games with a nice righty bat to compliment him 2 times a week.
jranieli
Murphy will be the starting second baseman next year. He is scheduled to play in the Arizona Fall League (if the Mets don't make the playoffs) and off to the Caribbean for winterball. The Mets have said they want him to play exclusively at second in the fall and winter. He already has experience at AA playing second. The question is what they will do with Evans. He doesn't that have that great of an arm to become a full time outfielder. He is best at his natural position which is first base. I think the Mets will pick up Delgado's option and split time with Evans with Delgado getting the majority of the playing time. Maybe he also splits time in the OF. Maybe he becomes expendable. Maybe Fernando Martinez becomes expendable. Church is a good player. He was hitting well before he got injured, even against lefties but not much since returning. He will be in NY for years to come, that is a bit of a stretch. He will be here next year but beyond that, I am not sure.
xxi-xxv
1st and 3rd, none out, bottom 8 Ryan Church(against a righty)strikes out. He is a glorified(cause thats what us met fans seem to do with the mediocre)4th outfielder.
