Maybe it is Synder playing games again. He did make Gregg Williams go through 6 interviews without offering him a job. Spags so far has gone through 2.

Spags departed late last night, without an offer

Just sent this in for what we call a "web story," but I'll post it here too.

Steve Spagnuolo left Redskins owner Daniel Snyder's home late on Wednesday night without a contract offer, according to two people familiar with the discussions, and it appears he is leaning towards returning to the Giants for at least another season as defensive coordinator.

Spagnuolo was spending this morning deciding if he wants to be considered for the job, following nearly a full day's worth of talks with Snyder and Redskins vice president of operations Vinny Cerrato. Spagnuolo, who has a new contract on the table from the Giants that will make him one of the highest-paid coordinators in the NFL, flew to Washington, D.C. immediately after the Giants' championship parade and stadium rally on Tuesday evening.

He met with Snyder and Cerrato late into the night, stayed over at a guest house on Snyder's property and resumed talks early Wednesday morning. Those lasted into the night, but Spagnuolo left for his home in New Jersey to discuss the situation with his wife, Maria.

Former Giants coach Jim Fassel is considered the top candidate for the job, along with former 49ers ad Lions coach Steve Mariucci. One of the people familiar with the job search said the Redskins may choose either of the veteran coaches as early as this afternoon.

Spagnuolo turns down 'Skins, sticking with Giants

NFL.com Wire Reports

Steve Spagnuolo has decided to remain with the New York Giants and will not be leaving to become the head coach of the Washington Redskins, NFL Network's Adam Schefter is reporting.

The architect of the defense that won Super Bowl XLII spent most of Wednesday meeting with Redskins owner Dan Snyder.

That was in addition to the 90 minutes the two spent on the phone Monday evening and the first face-to-face portion of the interview at Snyder's house Tuesday night. The talks ran late Tuesday, with the New York Giants defensive coordinator spending the night in a guesthouse on the owner's property, as other candidates have done during the team's monthlong coaching search.

Snyder is known for holding long sessions with coaching candidates, with preliminary talks often exceeding 12 hours and follow-up meetings held later. The schedule with Spagnuolo is more compressed because the Redskins had to wait until after the Super Bowl to interview him.

Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Ron Meeks and former Giants coach Jim Fassel are the two leading contenders to replace Joe Gibbs, who resigned Jan. 8. Snyder has met several times with both Meeks and Fassel, and the owner has said he would like to have a coach in place by the end of the week.

Spagnuolo became a hot commodity during the Giants' championship run, which culminated with their 17-14 Super Bowl upset of the New England Patriots.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Does he deserve that?

Of course he deserves it. He changed the defense of the Giants to one of the best in the business.

The 3-years contract is exciting to me. That means he should be around for awhile and possibly being groomed for the HC job in the future. :)
