a very big part of NFL fooball is making the QB uncomfortable. Throwing early and making bad throws or timing that is out of sync with the receiver. Causing havoc is not something that joseph does very often. Sure he's cheap but look at the quality were getting. HE was suppose to be a stud #1 pick. We need help in the middle thats definite!

The reason i use that terminology is for the joseph fans that cannot see the difference between taking space and making plays. I know the guy doesnt make plays but we have member who are not aware of this fact yet! Of course i dont have to expain this to the Fab 4 you guys wrote the book ! right? :worshippy:

"Dominated " in my book means getting blown off the ball 2to 3 yds back every single play. and for the record i dont disagree with the fact that joseph in that game didnt get pushed around but if you watch him most of the time he doesnt get blown up he just doesnt make anything happen and thats my point about him in a negative way! Again he doesnt make that many plays. He is neutralized most of the time and then in a rare case he gets accross the line of scrimmage and all pro joseph fans yell and scream accept for me ! I see a mediocre player 75% to 85% of the time. And thats why we need more support in the middle if we are to help our secondary!

joseph in the carolina game didnt get dominated he was neutralized meaning he didnt make plays !!! In then NFL either your a play maker or not and Joesph doeant make many plays on the ball. The Caolina game is bad example because all the Giants players were either dominated or neutralized !!! PLAY MAKERS !!!!

I will not bash joseph down the way you do BUT he is very inconsistant and that cannot be if he is to start for the Giants or any NFL team for that matter. THere are times that he is just there taking space and sure the pro jopseph fans talk about only select plays that he makes but overall the truth is the truth. It was a mistake to take him as a number 1 pick! mistakes get made in the NFL though! we now need a warrior to replace him. Who comes to mind is the question?

I dont want to beat a dead horse but Joseph is still a concern and I felt even though clancy played pretty well we need to be honest about the middle of the D line and consider drafting Joseph's starting replacement. Joseph may fit into the rotation but not as a starter. Too many times in games when OSi and Stayhan were neutralized we should have gotten pressure up the middle and didnt. Once we put together the right combination of DT's we will immediately help the secondary especially the CB's. Sure draft a safety and CB or even buy a FA but we cannot afford to have a weak middle D line. Comments ?

my feeling on joseph is we let him be back up. I dont think he has the animal instinct you need to play the position. You need to be ferious and relentless at DT. Yes we need the best we can draft and FA for the D to be playoff calibre I agree. one thing though I beleive you are way to hard on Eli Manning. It was his first full season and by no means am i cutting him slack I just dont think you are being fair. If he doesnt improve his mechanics and accuracy this year than you can bitch but not after 1 full season. I know the whole manning thing turns you off but i still think what you promote is unfair. There were game last year were he showed he can take pressure and win. Be a man nutty and dont side with those clowns give me your opinion not theirs. Martin

i'm gonna try to be serious with you nutty !! If you are great as you say you are in regards to NFL football knowledge than you know the reason teams go deep in the playoffs is due to great defense. Eli just has to play consistant with a ferious D behind him to get deep in the playoffs. IF the giants create a tuff D then our future is bright regardless of what eli's stats will be. Ben R had horrible stats in a winning s-bowl game. The reason peyton has not been to a s-bowl has to do with Defense. When john elway finally got a real good D he won a s-bowl. The combine is great and all but I have seen over the years CB's that have great spead and agility that do not have the feel for when to turn their head around for the ball. I have seen countless times where they trun there heads to the ball to late only to have the WR take the ball from them. No doubt there are technics that must be used but its more art than science in my opinion and having the right feel for it out ways someones 40 time. Talking about DT for a moment I believe that we could absolutely use a player in the middle. Its more important than these CB talks that are going on. Get the right D line in place and everything else falls in line for the Defense!

Does anyone know the exact reason why he was released? Was it that he wouldnt restructure his contract or was he not fully healthy?? But too many times the Giants have let players go only to show off their talents on another team. If you have facts please respond.

Green being released is a surprise. I can only think that either physically he is worse than anticipated or he wont restructure his contract. emmons is older and pricey also ! But as mentioned when the D was playing well it was Pierce Emmons and Tobor so maybe they feel they dont want to break up the continuity and will draft the eventual emmons replacement a pure WSLB. Blackburn will backup Pierce.

As you said we are indeed a few players away from a very good team and well balanced i might add. I think on the offensive side of the ball we have everything in place but a 3rd WR. Once we get a speedy , crafty player with good moves and great hands that will go over the middle or deep and our offense will be one of the most potent in the NFL! The seondary needs help of course and I think this is where FA comes in. We need help right away and at CB immediately! Also at safety alexander has experience but too slow now so another FA is essential at that position to enhance wilson's ability. Webster needs more experience and Deloatch needs more experience as well. Will Peterson is still a big question mark so draft picks are very likely at CB and also a LB to replace Griesen who more than likley is gone. Everthing aside from a 3 WR should be D this year CB's Safety and a LB! We need Feagles to stay put one more year! Will be a great season coming up !

yo barens !! i agree also about the draft being 1st day D picks. As much as Luke frustrates me we need him and the oline to keep that continuity together. Next year we will have to put together a plan of his eventual replacement. I also agree with Money about keeping Whitfield. He's old but absolutely necesary as Lukes backup this coming year.

First off he is still realitively young and fast which is the direction they wanted to go into. I believe he is 29. His injury problem was a bad doctor that mis diagnoised his injury which lead to re injury. If anyone will be cut its emmons due to his age contract and declining speed. We save a little less with cuttting emmons but we pick up age and speed. (blitzing ability) We will probably see Green , Pierce, and Tobor as the starting lineBacks with blackburn, and maybe 1 FA LB with one pick from the draft. Griesen will more than likely be with another team. If not we have even better depth. The games he did play he looked great and he created trouble for the other team. I felt Green was a victim of bad circumstances all around. I have been wrong before but thats my take!

I think taking a look at some of the potential changes that could occur in this offseason the Giants have a legit shot at becoming a better football team. You have pointed out where those changes could occur and the possible replacements. Over all I agree with most of where the changed would be. Frank Walker has enormous talent he just needs good coaching. He is too aggressive and believes in his playmaking ability every down. He needs to be more controlled. Butler is also another talented player. Has a good feel for the blitz. If we spend the money for FA its got to be in the secondary and to some degree its confusing at what position. Alexander is older Peterson a CB is suspect with his injury. Webster needs more experience Wilson is real brightspot. I would bring in a CB FA. R. Barber ?? Do we have the money for him?

First off like many Giants fans I vent !! I have watched many games and Luke can be frustrating sometimes not all the time . When his back went out with injury his consistancy went with it. He does command a nice chunk of change though and of course as a team thats building we all would love to have as much money allocated for FA's with the weakness in the secondary. The other issue not to gt rid of luke is to keep continuity with the Oline Yes your right there is not a player that will step in aside from Luke all other possibilities are all high risk. Again just venting about the money! No pun intended !!

I can understand why we have the haters. The guy is making great money he hasnt even played that much But I really believe if he is 100% healthy he will prove you wrong about what he can do on the field. He is fast and reads the field very well with great football feel and awareness. A very good blitzing LB as well. His injury problem was not his fault he had a lame doctor and if he is back 100% many will love this guy with Pierce and Tobor. We draft a real good kid in the draft for LB along with Blackburn and we may good things at the LB squad. The guy who hasnt impressed was Emmons! I would love to cut his salary and Luke!! What I am saying is give Green a chance this year! Hes gonna impress!
