  1. We don't have a nose tackle and a 3-4 defense would cripple one of the best players on our defense(Strahan)...What he does best is rush the passer...he would be a none factor in a 3-4

Lets all watch as Chad Jackson becomes the next Anquan Boldin...Jimmy Williams get 4 picks his rookie season......and Kiwi plays in a grand total of three games

just a bad pick all around

  2. Me too. Except for Whitner. I like him a lot but we have two young safeties who both have nice potential and can certainly play in the NFL. If he was the only guy that fell, then I'd take Watson instead of Whitner. But Whitner's not falling to our slot.

ehhh....I think Demps is about as good now as he is going to get....Wouldnt be dissapointed if Whitner was drafted...but like you said....he isn't falling to us

  3. Except we get the potential that he has and the possibility of being more then just a space eater.

Personally, I'm not for drafting DTs in the first but in this draft there are exceptions such as Ngata and Bunkley. I like Gabe, but if we have other guys we like available, I would rather one of them. Still, I wouldn't mind that much a pick such as Watson.

    Bobby Carpenter

    Antonio Cromartie

    Deangelo Williams

    Demeco Ryans

Manny Lawson(athletic enough to play SAM in a 4-3 defense)

    Chad Jackson

    Santonio Holmes

    Donte Whitner

If all those guys happen to be off the boards at that time.....than I could live with Gabe Watson

  4. Drew is short.....but short and small are two different things. Joe Morris, Dave Megget, Warrick Dunn......you don't have to be tall to be an effective running back. Now to the "not small" part. Sure he is 5 foot 6...but he is also weighing in at 207 pounds....On a six foot tall back that isn't much size...but 207 pounds on a 5 foot 6 body is a thick, strong, running back.....would be a nice pick in the third round...

Essentially...he is a fast moving bowling ball....with better hands....

  5. I have no problem with the status of our running backs right now...but if Deangelo Williams were there at 25 and we happened to take him I wouldn't be dissapointed at all....Heck, we are actually in a position where we can afford to simply take the best player available...

  6. We need to stay away from Howard. He has zero football smarts or instincts and relies ONLY on his athletic ability....draft football players, not athletes

Stanley, IMO, won't last that long

and taking an ILB is pointless....he won't even make the team

  7. Well if he's not available, I still think Demeco Ryans would be a great pick. Or Chad Greenway but I think that it's even less likely he drops to 25 than Carpenter.

Either Ryans or Carpenter would be good pick for us at that point. Now, before we signed Arrington I was pushing Demeco Ryans, and while he would still be a nice pickup for us, he is a WILL. Arrington is only 27 and signed to a 7 year deal, so he might just end up stuck behind Lavar for years to come. Of course, he has the smarts to move over to the strong side, but if it comes down to Carpenter or Ryans I would prefer Mama Carpenter's pride and joy to be in Giants blue next season. He is a pure SAM backer who is a great pass rusher and plays well over the TE...I'm crossing my fingers he slids past the Patriots...

  8. i woudlnt be disappointed but i wouldnt be thrilled about it either. nothing stands out in regards to carpenter if you ask me.

His size, athletic ability and pass rushing are all top notch for a strong side linebacker...the reason he had fallen this far down the boards is because of his partner in crime on that Buckeye defense. If AJ Hawk was not in this draft Carpenter would be a top 15-top 20 pick

  9. Usually I simply put the TV on mute when Sean Salsbury is about to offer his "expert advice"...but during todays mock draft on ESPN, Sean choose Bobby Carpenter for the Giants at 25...and if got me thinking, why not?

Bobby Carpenter is a big, athletic, nasty linebacker. He plays with tons of energy and passion and could really add something to the defense. Not to mention that the departure of Greisen leaves a big hole that needs filling....the token white guy on defense....

Now, while I am still a strong supporter of Reggie Torbor to be the heir apparant to Emmons on the strong side, a talent like Carpenter's may be too good to pass up at that point of the draft. He seems to have the ability and instincts to come in and contribute on this defense from day one as a situational pass rusher from the linebacker position and would eventually take over Emmons SAM spot. If the Giants happened to select Bobby at 25, I would be very pleased with the pick and would be REAL comfortable with our backers heading into next season.

    Thoughts? :afro:

  10. Can someone explain this to me? Why is he a reach in the second?

because chances are good that he could be there when we select in the third...so it would be foolish to draft him a whole round early.....not to mention he does not have overbearing talent. He is a work horse who never quits and goes 100%, but he does not have eye popping speed, size or strength. Hell, you got him going in the third in your mock. Seems you think second would be a little to high for him, as well. Don't get your panties in a twist...

  11. I would love either Ngata or Bunkley....but they aren't falling to us and I don't want to see us go anywhere near Watson.

In the second we should hope for Claude Wroten or Jonathan Lewis...Maybe John McCargo at this pick, but that may be a reach.

Dvorcek i really like but I think he would be a reach in the second round, but would be a no brainer in the third if the position was not already taken care of
