  1. he is a good player just not in that position

exactly...Kiwi can be a very good player in this league.....but we sure as hell did not need another DE and we sure as hell did not need to spend a FIRST ROUNDER on a DE....

It is very difficult to put any positive spin on this.....

If we did not have Tuck waiting in the wings than this would be a very nice pick by us...but the fact of the matter is that Tuck will likely take over for Big Mike when he retires....and Kiwi will be yet another bad first round choice and wasted talent...its actually kinda sad...

  2. He's a situational player until Strahan retires and then he becomes a starter. That's the idea. Anybody would have been a situation player this year. There are no positions at which a rookie would have taken the starting spot (except DT) and there wasnt one worth taking at 25.

And what happens if Tuck eventually takes over for Strahan and becomes a very good defensive end(which I predit will happen)? Than he is STILL just a situational pass rusher...even after Strahan is gone....We woudl have wasted a first round pick on a situational pass rusher...

  3. He has Tim Carter speed and can catch the ball. maybee we can actually strech the field a little bit for Plex and Shockey... not to mention that speed might make the Saftey think twice about coming up into the box.... What I dont understand is why they didnt just stay put, they could have gotten these same two playes....

I did see on site saying that Madf;k akdl;fjo could have been a late first/second rounder... Now if we only needed a DE?

Granted if We have Kiwi, Lavar, Osi, Tuck, Strahan and Joseph rushing the passer at the same time on third downs it will be HELL for opposing teams to block.....but did we honestly need to spend our first rounder on a situational pass rusher?

  4. Let me throw some names out...

    Ashton Youboty...very unlikely

    Rod Wright

    Claude Wroten

    Dusty Dvoracek...the most likely player

Dusty would be a good pick for us...He is nasty enough and a hard enough worker to play the two-gap DT spot that this team needs help at...Rod Wright worries me and I would take Dusty over him....Claude Wroten would be a decent pick, but I would rather see dusty at that point. Mainly because Wroten is a one-gap DT...both Robbins and Joseph are in that spot, but we have NO ONE to play the two-gap spot.

Babatunde Oshinowo, or Montavious Stanley would be good picks in teh fourth to fill that spot....

I wouldn't mind seeing a trade up for Youboty...at this point in the draft it is worth the risk...

  5. read the coughlin interview above. obviously this is who they thought was the bpa and they've spent much more time on this than we have.

well....if this is who they thought was the best available player we will have to live with it and support Kiwi.....still don't understand the pick....hopefully they find a way to let him contribute...I just got a bad feeling with Chad Jackson and Jimmy Williams...I think we passed up on two future stars to take a situational pass rusher....

  6. I think it's impossible to say that Jackson was the BPA in the draft. Historically, WR's are the toughest to transition from college to the pro's. They are completely hit or miss, just go look at the past drafts and see who the first round WR's were. Many are no longer in the NFL. Also, as a rule of thumb, the dropoff in talent from the first to third round is much higher for all other positions.

No...Jackson was hands down the BPA....an argument could be made for Jimmy Williams, Demeco Ryans or Winston Justice.....not Kiwi...

Jackson has the size, speed, hands and production in College that shows that he was, without a doubt, the most talented player left...

This was not a case of the best player available, did not fill a need....hell, it wasn't even a good pick for the future seeing as we already have tuck.....it was just a miserable, terrible, horrible, no good, very bad pick....

  7. They love 99% of the picks, lol

"With the 30th pick in the second round the *insert team here* selects Steve Jimbo, fat guy, Denver Community College"

Mel Kiper: "I love this picks for *insert team here*...they really needed someone to clog the middle of the line, and Jimbo is just that. Good value at this point in the draft. Some might critisize him because he has no athletic ability and spends his day at Burger King and the couch, but his size shoudl allow him to more than make up for this."

  8. I can't believe we could have gotten Chad Jackson or Sanantonio Holmes for our first pick, but instead get another DE that isn't even that good :cwy: EA what is wrong with you

Kiwanuka is a good player...everyone is underestimating him...what angers me about the pick is that a) if we were draft BPA there were more talented players on the board b) he may not see the field for two years and c) we have Tuck who showed the ability to eventually be a very good DE

don't like this pick at all...

  9. Well, if we could get Moss in the second, why take Jackson in the first? And I guess we weren't that high on Justice and White. After those two, who else was there? I don't like Williams and I guess the Giants FO agreed.

We could of taken Moss or Jackson with the 32 pick....and still have our two third rounders and the second to go after a DT, CB and LB...anyway I look at it...I see a major league blunder with our first round pick

  10. No, but the more quality players you have the better chance that one will emerge as a great player.

Jackson -- we just got moss so we addressed that area of need.

Ryans -- LB is locked up even longer than DE. there's a good chance matias beats Tuck out for Strahans spot. so cant say that we had to go w/ LB over DE.

Jimmy Williams -- lots of potential but a few too many issues. i think mathias will be better than williams when its all said and done.

and let's say Kiwi beats out Tuck for Strahan's spot.......we then wasted a third round pick on Justin tuck...We should of given Tuck another year to show what he can do before we brought in someone to replace him

We needed to go after a wideout, DT and CB in the first three rounds....this is a wasted first round pick...

  11. Fine pick in Moss. So we still filled one need and got one guy for the future too. Let's see what we do from here.

See guys, EA knows what he's doing.

.....he still took Kiwi with our first pick...

Now, dont' get me wrong. I have watched a few BC games and Kiwi will probably become a solid player in the NFL...but we had Tuck, who looks like he may be a star in the making, and could have gotten a player like Chad Jackson or Demeco Ryans...this pick is leaving a bad taste in my mouth...

  12. LOLOL, yah.

I didnt realize Molasses was so slow, either. Poor fit for 3-4.

In Kiwi's defense, he is anything but slow...speed wouldn't stop him from being able to move to OLB....but i'm not so sure he has the agility and quickness to play OLB.......ea shit the bed....

  13. Not really. We had Kenny Holmes and Strahan and Keith Washington on the bench.

I can see EA's rationalization somewhat behind this pick. It's the fact that there were other guys we could've taken.

....you think Holmes and Washington were starting material......

We had strahan, and old Washington, and a massive under acheiver in Kenny Holmes...

as opposed to today...when we have Strahan, one of the best young premier defensive players in football, and a massivly talented backup who just so happened to cost us a first day pick last year....

This cannot be compared to the Osi pick...

  14. but then again who are we to say horrible pick....

who knows how they'll turn out...

i thought OSI was a bad pick back in 03

but Osi..while a reach, atleast filled a need...We needed a DE at that point....Defensive end is, far and away, the strongest position on the football team....

Jimmy Williams, even with all his character questions, would be a much better pick

Chad Jackson would of been a much better pick....

hell...Gabe Watson would atleast start next season....Kiwi will be lucky to see the field...
