  1. I posted my first comments to this and Cromartie on another site but thanks to this state-of-the-Art copy and paste feature, I will just paste it here.

He seems like a great guy. He definitely has his head screwed on tight and is leaving early for a damn good reason. He definitely gets my respect but untill he checks out physically he is still to risky. If he does check out ok he would be a steal in the late second but I think he'll be long gone at that time. Cromartie has physical attributes very few players at his position have. He can be a big time difference maker.

I cant believe the NFL told him 3rd or 4th round. Never would I imagine him falling that far. You are talking about a potential top 10 pick if he stays in college or if he was healthy this season.

my my, if it isn't Pizan!

What a blast from the past this is! Hope you stick around buddy, we could use another good football mind like you around here.

  2. I didn't mean to infer that you were saying that we were cutting Emmons. I just didn't understand the logic of cutting Emmons before Green. The old guy is on the field, the young guy is on the couch. And I guess I'm a little annoyed that he wasn't IR'd in preseason, basically keeping Hollowell off the roster. Hollowell may not have been a great LB, but we sure could have used him at the end of the season. Hindsight is 20/20...

One could argue that wanting to play while not being 100% is exactly the kind of attitude Coughlin wants, although he might not have appreciated the venue where Emmons expressed this.

I don't think 3 mil is a small amount, but if that can be lowered (and I think Emmons is reasonable enough to work with Accorsi), I don't see a reason not to keep him around.

Then again, ask me after the draft. :)

I would actually prefer to see both Emmons and Green on the team next season, but more likely than not, one of them is going to be gone. Plus, we have Torbor behind Emmons, who is a very solid young player and no one behind Green at this point. Emmons release this offseason would not surprise me in the least...but hey, who knows? We could sign a LB in FA and take Ryans in the First round and cut both of them loose...not likely, but possible..

    speculating is fun :P

  3. To just simply not even offer Frankie Walker a contract would be dumb. He has been around for a few years, has made some plays, and has great physical tools...At worst we bring him back for real cheap and he is beat out in camp by another player. If he is brought back he is not a lock to make the team. He would compete in camp with maybe a late round CB or vet we bring in....Competition never hurt anyone...

  4. I never really understood that line of thought. Emmons, albeit playing hurt, has been on the field a lot more than Green has. I'll grant you Torbor isn't a huge dropoff at this stage compared to Emmons, but he's not a huge upgrade either. Emmon's salary isn't all that bad, either.

Green showed ability when he actually made it onto the field, but he just isn't on the field enough. I wouldn't cut him now, but if he gets dinged in pre-season, I wouldn't stick it out with him. Especially at the price of a promising draftee.

I never said we will cut Emmons, but if we are going to get rid of either Emmons or Green, Emmons is more likely to go. He is older, has had, albeit not as bad as Green, Injury problems, and complained when put on IR late last season(which he was justified in doing, but im sure Coughlin didn't appreciate that). Plus, he is due to make, I think, around 3 mil next season, and seeing as we have Torbor behind him(who might be just as good as Emmons at this point) releasing Emmons is not as improbable as one may think...

  5. Since the Giants will dump Green like a used rubber in about 3 weeks, I don't care what he does next season. By the way both he and Emmons will be sitting in the Greyhound Bus Station on March 3rd - they will probably hurt themselves getting on the Bus.

and there goes our little slice o' paradise....

  6. Barrett Green is most likely going to be our starting WILL going into next season, so the chances he is cut are very minimal. Emmons has much more a chance of being released than does Barrett. When Green was 100% in 2004 he was showing that he was a very good young LB. Great Athlete, always around the ball, playmaker. If he returns to that form next year, he will add a huge boost to our D....

That said...I would not mind us bringing in a WILL through the early rounds of the draft or free agency...Depth never hurt anyone...

  7. I can understand why we have the haters. The guy is making great money

he hasnt even played that much But I really believe if he is 100% healthy

he will prove you wrong about what he can do on the field. He is fast and

reads the field very well with great football feel and awareness. A very good

    blitzing LB as well.

His injury problem was not his fault he had a lame doctor and if he is back

100% many will love this guy with Pierce and Tobor. We draft a real good

kid in the draft for LB along with Blackburn and we may good things at the LB squad.

The guy who hasnt impressed was Emmons! I would love to cut his salary and Luke!!

What I am saying is give Green a chance this year!

    Hes gonna impress!

    :)

please stop with the "Luke cutting"...it won't happen, and would be a terrible decision if it did happen...

  8. That would be fine with me if Allen stays.

Same here. No problem for me if Allen stays on, but only for cheap, I don't think he deserves a big contract, and we should still bring in another vet or rookie to compete at CB, but Allen seems to get a bad rap. He is far better than anyone gives him credit for...

  9. Torbor, Pierce, and Greisen were a solid crew when together last year. Each were flying to the ball, making tackles in the backfield, something lacking when that metal legged waste was playing.

Cut ties with Emmons and Training Table Boy, they have been nothing but a disappointment since Ernie signed them.

Perhaps Ernie should have tried to keep Short and Jones. After signing Emmons and Green, it was supposed to be an upgrade. Well here we are again, two years later looking for more linebackers.

I agree, Pierce played at a pro-bowl level last year, and Torbor showed that he can be a solid play at SLB for us....We need to look for a WILL either in FA or the early rounds of the draft...and if we can find a solid, young WLB, than we can have a good group of starting LB for a long time
