  1. well its 9-0......reyes hit his second homrun...and beltran hit a 2 run homer......mets kickin ass....

I just wish we played lights out like that all the time. The Marlins have been Met killers the past two years towards the end of the season. :brooding:

  2. Ollie pitched 2 innings of hitless ball with 3 K's and a BB, of course.

Mets pitchers have allowed only 1 hit through 6 innings.

Castillo had another great game, 1-1 with 2 Runs and 2 BBs.

Jose Reyes 1 for 3 with a grand slam homerun and 5 RBI.

    Church 1 for 3.

Murphy 1-2 with a BB and a K. I like that Murphy has 2 BBs in 2 games, patient hitter for a young guy.

    Delgado 1-2, Wright 2-3, Scheider 1-2.

Hopefully this hitting extends into regular season.

    Mets winning 6-0.

God I wish I could watch the game. I moved back to Central Florida and hope to atleast make one of the games in Port Lucie. I'm at work right now. :brooding:

  3. PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (AP)—New York Mets ace Johan Santana was scratched from Friday morning’s “B” game start against Italy because of tenderness in his pitching elbow.

Mets manager Jerry Manuel said the decision was precautionary because Santana has a history of feeling elbow soreness this time of the year. Santana remains on track to make his regular exhibition game debut Tuesday.

“I am not trying to do anything crazy out there,” Santana said. “I am going to take a couple days and relax and get ready for Tuesday.”

The left-hander said his elbow felt stiff after a bullpen session Wednesday, and he told pitching coach Dan Warthen he wanted to take some time off from throwing before preparing for his first game.

Santana had been slated to pitch one inning Friday, added to help Italy prepare for the World Baseball Classic. Mike Pelfrey will get the start against Italy.

“I try to keep my elbow loose, but especially early in spring training it takes a little bit of time,” Santana said. “It takes time to adjust to everything and it takes time to get loose, but I don’t think it’s a big deal right now.”

Santana, who had arthroscopic surgery Oct. 1 on torn cartilage in his left knee, didn’t think the tightness in his elbow was related to rushing back from the knee surgery too soon, but rather from overuse early in camp.

“I’ve been throwing bullpens here every other day, and I don’t think I’ve ever done that in the past,” Santana said. “The reason why is because we wanted to test my knee and make sure everything is fine, throwing every other day off the mound.”

He threw off a mound for the first time since the offseason surgery on Feb. 10 and has faced no setbacks with the leg.

“My knee is fine,” the two-time AL Cy Young Award winner said. “There’s no problem, but it takes some time to get adjusted to pitching and throwing 100 percent off the mound, so right now I am just taking my time. There is no need to rush. My focus is on April 6.”

Santana went 16-7 last year with a major league-best 2.53 ERA in his first season with the Mets.

  4. We'll see. Murphy has the look of a guy that can hit lefties as good as righties. I imagine in such cases in late games we might see some pinch hitting by Tatis and defensive replacements like Reed out there. Manuel doesn't have to succumb to bad matchups late in the game if he doesn't want to.

I must say though, yesterday was a great day for the guys who reside in the basement. Castillo and Church

  5. that would be a better way to go. Coles can fill in, I think we are looking at Hixon - 1, Smith - 2, Manningham - 3 and I am sure they will bring in some younger guys or free agent acquisitions. But the game plan will clearly be tailored to a run first attack...now if they can beat that into the head Kilbride we will be set.

I'm very iffy on Coles. Age and his health are at question for me. He might be cheaper, but cmon now. If not TJ then lets just draft a guy already. The FA class isn't great to say the least <_<

  6. Smith moving in as Toomer's replacement does not make us a better team. There is no question Houshmanzadeh is a much better football player than Smith. I would agree that we need to be cautious with the kind of deal we would give TJ. He will play next season at 32 (only 3 years younger than Toomer) and is coming off of a 5 year low in yards, ypr, and touchdowns. I believe he can still get it done but I wouldn't give him more than a 3 year deal and I WOULDN'T get into a bidding war for his services. He wants to play in Philadelphia, so we'll see what happens with that.

If we do get him, the WR makeover is not complete until we draft Kenny Britt! :P

Look who his QB's were! lol

  7. You take the hit bro.....Dawkins is still better than Michael Johnson...and always will be.

I agree. Dawkins is a beast, and I think the Eagles would be retarded to let him go. He had another Pro-Bowl season last year, and single handly destroyed the Cowboys in the regular season finale. I would love to see him wearing Giant colors next year. Johnson might be able to learn from the All Pro

  8. :TD:

Our 6-7-8 guys are gonna be the easiest late game outs in the league.

Why do u say that? Church was basically our team MVP untill his first concussion last year, and now he's 100% healthy, Murphy was the highlight of the team towards the end of last season hitting over .300, and Schneider... ... ... well, Church and Murphy are good. lol. Schneider was decent at best.

  9. Yes thats why i said he could be the best of the boatload, not sure

Last pre-season Ware seemed to be the pick of the litter......but you could argue pre-season D, and the fact the others had assured spots

Ware is big and runs big with good feet, and change of direction.....he also runs downhill which you have to like

He seems as powerful as jacobs bt with better lane selection, quicker to the hole and better change of direction

Yeah, I'm really going to be looking forward to see what this guy has. That's why I don't mind Ward leaving. Earth, Fire, and Water!

  10. Typical Post bullshit, "could the Giants". If you think about it, you can replace the Giants with just about any other team name and have the same credibility, which is none.

Tomorrow's headline "Could the Giants be going after Terrell Owens?".

No it's more like, "Could the Giants be going after Albert Haynesworth?" :o

    lol

  11. I'm still interested to see what Angel Pagan can do, at least off the bench. Or if Tatis/Murphy don't pan out in LF. Saw some positive signs from him last year before he was injured.

I totally forgot we still had Pagan. lol. Yeah, I liked him too. I forget though, was he a utility player or was he at a set position?
