  1. Apparently, the Eagles are saying no to Houshmanzadeh...

Apparently so are the Giants. He's having a 2nd interview with the Seahawks, and also the Giants aren't looking for any offense through free agency. I got all this news from my friend who is listening to Sirous radio right now. He's not a liar, but it defiantly doesn't mean what he says is set in stone. I WANT TJ!!!!

  2. Santana: Opening day start could be in jeopardy

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (AP)—Mets ace Johan Santana says that his opening day start could be in jeopardy as he continues to battle tightness in his elbow.

“We have 162 games,” Santana said on Saturday. “What we have to accomplish takes 162 games. Everything starts April 6, if it’s going to be me or somebody else. It’s tough to say right now.”

Santana met with Mets general manager Omar Minaya and manager Jerry Manuel for about 40 minutes Saturday morning to discuss a plan of action for his ailing elbow.

The left-hander said doctors have told him an irritated triceps tendon is causing the discomfort in his throwing elbow.

The Mets plan to have him throw a light bullpen session on Sunday to see how he responds, even though he said Saturday he still has tightness in the elbow.

If all goes well with Sunday’s bullpen, Santana said he would need another two or three batting practice sessions with two days off in between before making his first Grapefruit League start.

That means the two-time Cy Young Award winner isn’t likely to pitch in a game until at least the second week of March.

If Santana throws Sunday and still feels discomfort in the elbow, the Mets could opt to send him to New York for further tests.

Santana, who had arthroscopic surgery Oct. 1 on torn cartilage in his left knee, didn’t think the tightness in his elbow was related to rushing back from the knee surgery too soon, but rather from overuse early in camp.

“I’ve been throwing bullpens here every other day, and I don’t think I’ve ever done that in the past,” Santana said Thursday. “The reason why is because we wanted to test my knee and make sure everything is fine, throwing every other day off the mound.”

Santana threw off a mound for the first time since the offseason surgery on Feb. 10 and has faced no setbacks with the leg.

Santana went 16-7 last year with a major league-best 2.53 ERA in his first season with the Mets after signing a six-year contract for $137.5 million last winter.

    Notes

Tim Redding, the leading candidate for the No. 5 spot in the Mets’ starting rotation, finally threw a bullpen session on Saturday and reported no problems. He has been battling a sore shoulder.

  3. P4P, My uncle and I are going to the Mets vs Braves on March 17th which is a Tuesday at the Disney Complex in Lake Buena Vista. Game at 1:05pm. Let me know if you are interested in going and meeting up.

Oh, and I'm going to Lakeland tomorrow to see Mets vs. Tigers! Can't wait.

If I go I might have to take my girl with me. <_< She don't ever let me go out and have fun without her. I'll PM u my cell number and talk to my girl tonight when I get home from work.

  4. Ahh, free agency. You know, even with baseball starting and my worries about the Mets being able to stave off another collapse, I keep coming back to football. The season that never ends. Anyway, I like the Boley signing. I have few complaints about the personnel on the Giants but I definitely wanted to see some speed at linebacker going into next season, whether it be through free agency or the draft. He appears to be a bit undersized so I have to assume he incorporates good speed to his game. I heard about him being an up and coming player two years ago but from what I gathered on the Falcons message board, he fell out of favor with new coach Mike Smith. At this point, Reese has to prove to me he can make a serious blunder, because up until now he has done as good a job as possible.

Hey there, my fellow Giants/Mets compadre. Yeah, I'm starting to think of Blackburn as a utility player that comes in for injury purposes, or fatigue reasons. (plus special teams) With this signing Whether Khiel can stay healthy or not, we stay pretty solid. BTW I still think in our defensive packages I'm sure there will be instances where we throw Kiwi out ther at LB at times to confuse offenses

  5. with Antonio on the field there will always be short passing over our middle area

OLBers cannot fix that weak spot alone, they will have their own responsibilities to worry about

all you need to do is design a play to isolate Pierce on a RB, or TE.....he is totally unable to stop that

Philadelphia creamed us doing that over and over and over again

11 on 10 does not compute

I agree we need a speedy, younger MLB in there. We should draft one, and let Antonio teach him verything he knows and mold him into the MLB that Pierce used to be. Is that Cushing guy MLB capable?

  6. Like the Skins and Cowboys do?? He obviously has not been paying attention to the NFL. You don't need to sign "big name" players to succeed. Crazy how a Giant fan wouldn't understand this, considering his team recently won a championship without such players, with Burress being the exception... somewhat.

Lol, the year we won the SB, we didn't pick up any "big name players." Kawika Mitchell was far from a big pick up, lol. BTW, who were the big spenders the year we won the SB? I bet half of them missed the playoffs

  7. If it is for a reasonable price it is a no-brainer. If it is true he wants to talk to the Giants maybe they can get him at a fair deal.

And if there is any GM in the league I trust to be smart with their money and somehow get great deals its Reese.

yeah... seriously, if we got him, and somehow Burress did make it back, could you just imagine?

Burress, TJ Housh., Smith, Hixon, and Boss!!!!

That would be best tandem in the league right there.

  8. Yes, he's very good. He's a coverage linebacker and he can tackle.

Even if we sign Boley, don't be surprised if we draft another LB with the first round pick, such as Cushing or Matthews. Remember the plan is to keep Kiwi at end, and Boley is a weakside LB. Therefore, what will happen is that the starting strongside 'backer would still be Danny Clark, in his final year with the Giants. They will likely want a young guy to play strongside linebacker, challenge for the job year one, and be the starter in 2010.

I think this might be their strategy. Then with the first second round pick they will go WR, and grab Nicks or Britt, whichever is available. That is a gamble though, and I'd prefer them to just get Britt in the first and start grabbing "best available" players after that, with an eye to grab young OL's, DL's, and a young safety and running back later.

That's what I was thinking, because Britt's stock has gone way up the past month. I seriously want TJ so bad though. That guy can catch everything. He reminds me alot of Fitzerald. I think we need to address maybe a MLB in the draft too, because I think AP is starting to falter a little bit.

  9. britt is not gonna come in and demand doubles his first year

How can we know that for sure? WE NEED TJ, AND BRITT!!! If we get TJ then in the 1st round we can get either LB, DT/DE, or OL. Then in the 2nd we can get Britt, but if Burress doesn't come back, and we don't get TJ i have a very bad feeling about next year. We all know Hixon will never be anything near Burress, Britt/Nicks will take time to mold, Toomer is gone, Smith is a good route runner, Moss/Manningham unproven. We need a big time reciever, or Manning will get manhandled. Just remember the only game we won during the final stretch was versus the Panthers, and we barely won that. Our RB's won that game. And a missed FG by Kasey, I believe

  10. I doubt we were seriously in the running for Haynesworth. I would be pissed if I was a fan of a team whose owner gave 100 mil to a defenensive lineman. We're talking big time quarterback type money there. As far as Boley, I am a little skeptical that we are thinking of giving him 5 mil a year when we refused to resign Kawika for less than that. And TJ - I doubt the Giants grab him.

I would love to nabb TJ at a reasonable price. I would freaken love it

  11. Who cares if Ward is back or not? I know I don't. We need a linebacker way more than a 2nd string RB. Right now I want to see more touches from Bradshaw anyway, and Ware deserves the promotion to third string as well.

    Give me Boley.

Is this Boley guy any good? So if we get Boley and Canty, then our first pick should be for Hicks or an OL... right?

  12. But this means the Browns are willing to trade. Maybe that give us a chance for B. Edwards.

Would be nice, but that would seriously leave the Browns with nothing. Didn't cut Derek Anderson too?

That would be a total 2 pro-bowlers gone with Edwards still uncertain
