  1. I guarantee you Canty will be lining up at end quite often. His wingspan (6-7) and his performance against the Giants last year no doubt has Coughlin thinking of using Canty at end quite a bit.

I love this signing....our DT position is set, and we have extra depth at defensive end.

And now, finally, we have a LB in Boley that can provide a speed rush, too.

I'm calling it right now: Justin Tuck has a 20 sack year thanks to all this new help.

  2. Yeah, I know, sounds impossible.

But consider this: Crabtree has a stress fracture in his foot. This is going to hurt his stock. This kid is not going to be covered by stiffs anymore....it's going to be a lot of bump and run stuff. Teams are going to be thinking about that when it comes time to draft him. If you are a crappy team, do you hang your hopes on a rookie WR that is one plant away from a season-shortening injury, or do you go with a QB, or a blue-chip offensive/defensive lineman?

Also, I'm anticipating that Detroit-phobia takes hold of some of these teams. Call it Calvin Johnson-itis. Not to knock Calvin Johnson, but if your team doesn't have a guy that can deliver a ball, the best WR skills in the world don't count for much.

So, I'm predicting that Crabtree becomes the 2009 version of Brady Quinn. I'm guessing he drops down into the middle of the draft, and the Giants, will use their number 2 (plus maybe some more ammo) to jump up and snag him.

(If not, Kenny Britt from Rutgers will be their next choice at WR....not sure if he'll be around, since if they can't get Crabtree I wouldn't be surprised to see them get another LB, despite landing Boley).

Don't forget Nicks. Some say he's better then Crabtree

  3. Has this guy been signed yet?

    Houshmandzadeh will decide future Sunday

T.J. Houshmandzadeh will decided to stay or leave the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

In a text message to The Enquirer, the Bengals' free agent wide receiver said he expects to make a decision "Sunday evening" about whether to remain in Cincinnati or go to a new team.

According to the report, the Bengals and Houshmandzadeh's agent, Kennard McGuire, have been in discussions over the last three days and an offer is on the table.

The Bengals' free agent wide receiver has already visited Minnesota and Seattle. He might also visit with the New York Giants, but that has not been confirmed.

  4. believes they will go WR in the first round.

Says the Giants like the USC linebackers but they have three young linebackers already.

Coaches like Bradshaw, fine with Jacobs+Bradshaw for 1,2.

-Curious about Dallas QB situation. Kitna is a guy who wants to play, could get interesting if Romo struggles

-Giants D line is "ready to dominate"

-Giants/Skins free agency winners so far

-Had 15 mill going into free agency, dont have much more than 5 mill left

-Initial splash should be it for now, perhaps a vet WR or safety in a few weeks

I hear the Giants like that WR from Carolina. Hicks

  5. New York Giants sign defensive lineman Chris Canty

    by Mike Garafolo/The Star-Ledger

Three players in, three players added.

The Giants have plugged another free-agent piece into their defensive front today by signing lineman Chris Canty to an undisclosed contract, the team announced moments ago. The NFL Network is reporting it's a 6-year, $42-million deal with $17.5 million guaranteed. The former Cowboy will join LB Michael Boley and DT Rocky Bernard - both signed yesterday - as integral members of the Giants' front seven.

Canty, 26, is the biggest of the three additions - and the biggest surprise. A 3-4 defensive end for four seasons since the Cowboys drafted him in the fourth round of the 2005 draft, the 6-7, 304-pound Canty will now likely switch to tackle in the Giants' 4-3 scheme. It won't be that big of an adjustment, though Canty will now have to get used to playing over opposing guards instead of tackles. He had 10 sacks (6 1/2 combined in the past two seasons) in his four years with Dallas. There's also a chance the Giants could line Canty up at end in some situations.

With a contract like the one he just sign, Canty will surely be a starter, which means either Fred Robbins or Barry Cofield will soon be in a backup role as part of a tackle rotation.

Robbins was one of the Giants' best defensive players through the first six games of last season, as he equaled his career-high of 5 1/2 sacks. But Robbins didn't register a sack the rest of the season and didn't get nearly as much penetration after suffering two broken hands and a shoulder injury. Robbins also injured his knee in the playoff loss to the Eagles and, like Cofield, he recently had his knee scoped.

Cofield is expected to be 100 percent by late spring and Robbins should also be recovered in the next few months. But Robbins will be 32 next month and will be a free agent after this upcoming season, so he might be the one losing his starting job for Canty and his days with the Giants could be numbered. And Jay Alford, a third-round pick in 2007 who's also the short snapper for field goals, is now seemingly fifth on the depth chart at tackle.

  6. MINNEAPOLIS -- Free agent wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh is visiting the Minnesota Vikings.

Houshmandzadeh was scheduled to arrive in Minnesota on Saturday to meet with team officials. He just made a trip to Seattle to check out the Seahawks, and the Bengals have an offer on the table to keep him in Cincinnati.

In a relatively weak market for receivers, Houshmandzadeh is the prize at his position. His statistics fell last season, to 904 yards and four touchdowns receiving. The year before, Houshmandzadeh had career highs with 1,143 yards and 12 TDs.

The Vikings gave big bucks to receiver Bernard Berrian last year, but their passing game still needs an upgrade. Quarterback Sage Rosenfels was acquired in a trade this week.

  7. They were just talking about the Giants and Michael Boley on NFL network... some guy that looks like a younger Ernie Accorsi was saying that it was a GREAT pickup for the Giants and Boley should thrive in the Giants' defensive system... he's a fast sideline-to-sideline backer that just really needs a change of scenery.

He went on to say that if the Giants sign either Rocky Bernard or Canty they're going to be in TREMENDOUS shape for next year... although I still think we need another WR threat since we probably won't be seeing Plax again... but I've gotta agree. I'll feel really good if we manage to fill our holes at LB, DT, and WR.

    Ditto my friend :clap::rock:
