  1. yes, i will be happy for him but i don't put much stock in personal records. rings are what counts.

the bonds story is much bigger everywhere else than SF, we're just happy armando NaBalkoff is gone. if you go on the giants board, the only bonds stories are started by trolls.

any fan of baseball in this era has supported cheaters, i am not embarassed. that was a dumb question.

When I said embarassed I didn't mean it offensively. I just wanted to know how you felt. I personaly have liked Bonds since he was a Pirate in the early '90's... I think if anyone made baseball fun to watch before and after those strikes they had was him... steriods to me is a retarded issue to put drama into a once beautiful sport. Who's to say alot of the greats in boxing, football, baseball, etc. didn't do steriods before the testing was so hard core. People always need speculation. I just wanted the opinion of a SF Giants fan, I never meant to accuse you of liking a guy who "cheats". He was the reason I first starting watching baseball...

  2. Do you personaly think that when Bonds breaks the record that he's deserving on passing Aaron??? I know there is "some" debate he in the later part of Aaron's career that he might have been juiceing, but there's no proof just speculation, so therefore the record is his with no question. You being a S.F. Giants fan will you be happy for him and think he's deserving of it? Or are you embarrassed of the fact your team is supporting a cheater??? What is your honest uptake on this??? Your opinion would be much appreciated

    Thanks

  3. I can't wait to see that bitch Williams try to horse-collar Jacobs like he did to Tiki every game. He's gettin' dragged to the endzone. Hope he breaks a few fingers trying.

If you think your guys sorry ass D-Line can stop Ruben and Brandon than your an idiot... lets not forget Derrik Ward and that rookie we picked up... then you see a healthy Toomer, Plax and Shockey (when they aren't whining), Moss, and Smith... and what do you guys have on offense? Tony Homo, Marion "I wish I was Tiki" Barber, Julius "I get hurt for half the season" Jones, Terrel "the pussy" Owens, Terry "I'm older than your grandfather" Glenn, and a bunch of other scrubs??? LOL, I'll be surprised if we don't beat you at our house and your house... of course you'll dissapear from message boards once we do beat the shit out of you, so enjoy the time you have without watching your team struggle to win more than 5 games... :LMAO:

  4. D-Backs vs Mets

Arizona Diamondbacks starters have been outstanding during the team's season-high seven-game winning streak, and have gotten some much-deserved run support. Brandon Webb hasn't been nearly as fortunate against the New York Mets.

The Diamondbacks look to finally give the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner some runs to work with against the Mets when the teams open a three-game series Friday night at Shea Stadium.

Arizona's starters have earned a win in each game during the winning streak, posting a 1.65 ERA in that span as the club has scored a total of 55 runs.

The Diamondbacks (32-23) received six shutout innings from Randy Johnson in a 4-3 victory over Philadelphia on Wednesday night. Arizona, which is trying to win eight straight for the first time since a 12-game run from June 18-30, 2003, is in a virtual tie for first place with the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego in the NL West.

Webb (4-3, 3.74 ERA), however, is just 1-6 in eight career starts against the Mets (34-18) despite posting a 2.59 ERA in that span. The Diamondbacks have not scored a run for Webb in his last three starts against New York.

He struggled against the NL-leading Mets earlier this month, surrendering six runs and six hits in six innings as the Diamondbacks lost 6-2 on May 5.

The right-hander won his last start by allowing two runs and seven hits while striking out eight in seven innings as Arizona beat Houston 5-4 on Saturday.

Webb may be facing a New York lineup that could be without star center fielder Carlos Beltran, who bruised his right knee in a first-inning collision with San Francisco first baseman Rich Aurilia in a 4-2 win on Thursday night.

The Mets are already thin in the outfield, with Moises Alou and Shawn Green on the disabled list. Beltran said the pain subsided as the night went on.

"I was a little concerned," he said.

Beltran is batting .364 (40-for-110) with nine home runs, seven doubles, 29 RBIs, 26 runs and 12 stolen bases in 30 games against the Diamondbacks. If he gets some time off, Carlos Gomez would likely replace him in the lineup.

The Mets, who have won five of six overall, have won 15 of their last 17 games against the Diamondbacks. New York won three of four games in Arizona from May 3-6.

John Maine (6-2, 2.79) will get the ball for the Mets on Friday, trying to take over the staff lead in victories.

The right-hander gave up two runs and four hits while tying a season high with eight strikeouts in six innings to beat Florida 7-2 on Saturday night.

Maine lost his previous two starts and hadn't won since May 4 against Arizona, when he allowed one run and six hits in six innings as the Mets won 5-3. It was his first appearance against the Diamondbacks.

  5. vs. The New York Giants

Is there any reason to believe that this will not be the battle for the NFC East basement this year?

I expect a spirited bout and predict that the team with the fewest injuries will take third place. If Eli reaches his full potential there is no reason why the G-Men can't pull this one out... :LMAO:

Yeah, cause Tony Homo is ever going to get you guys a championship :LMAO: You guys will be lucky to be at .500 with Wade Phillips

  6. Giants-Mets Preview

The New York Mets were patient when Carlos Delgado struggled for nearly the first two months of the season, even when injuries mounted.

That patience has been rewarded handsomely of late.

Delgado and the Mets seek a fifth consecutive victory Wednesday when they continue their series with the San Francisco Giants at Shea Stadium.

As recently as May 22, Delgado was batting just .209, and Mets manager Willie Randolph had moved the veteran first baseman out of his customary cleanup spot to as low as sixth in the batting order. The shuffle continued even as New York (33-17) lost starters Moises Alou and Jose Valentin to injuries.

Yet the 34-year-old Delgado recently began to swing the bat better, and Randolph had enough confidence to return him to the No. 4 spot in the lineup. Delgado has responded with four homers in his last three games, including a game-winning solo shot in the bottom of the 12th inning of Tuesday's 5-4 victory.

"He's smoking the ball," third baseman David Wright told the Mets' official Web site. "You don't hit 400-something homers just hitting a home run every now and then. His homers come in bunches."

Delgado is 11-for-25 (.440) while hitting safely in his last six games, raising his batting average 30 points. His homer Tuesday gave the Mets their 15th come-from-behind victory -- tied with Arizona for most in the NL.

"We're good at it," said Delgado, who is 4-for-17 with seven strikeouts against Giants scheduled starter Barry Zito.

Delgado's heroics would not have been possible without Jose Reyes, who induced two balks by Giants closer Armando Benitez. The second one allowed Reyes to score the tying run while Delgado batted.

"That's a tough one to lose," said Giants manager Bruce Bochy, who argued the first balk but not the second.

Zito (4-5, 4.70 ERA) will now try to stop a four-game losing streak for the Giants (24-26) and win his second consecutive start. The left-hander limited the Houston Astros to one run and four hits in seven innings of a 9-1 victory last Wednesday, bouncing back from a poor outing against the Oakland Athletics -- his former team.

Zito has lost three consecutive road starts, giving up 16 runs and walking 13 in 17 innings since a victory at Colorado. His lone start against the Mets was a victory on May 7.

For the Mets, Tom Glavine (5-2, 3.39) will try again to pick up his 296th career victory. The veteran left-hander was outpitched by former teammate John Smoltz in a 2-1 defeat at Atlanta on Thursday, despite yielding only two runs in six innings.

"It's tough to swallow, but you have to put it behind you," said Glavine, who has not lost back-to-back starts since Aug. 11 and 16. "When you pitch well and things don't go your way, it's hard to put it behind you."

The 41-year-old Glavine turned in arguably his best effort of the season at San Francisco on May 8, limiting the Giants to one run in a season-high seven innings of New York's 4-1 victory. He is 20-15 with a 3.54 ERA in 43 lifetime starts against San Francisco.

Giants left fielder Barry Bonds, who walked in a 10th-inning pinch-hit appearance Tuesday, is 27-for-82 (.329) with four homers lifetime against Glavine, including the 745th of his career on May 8.

After using five relievers Tuesday, the Mets will get some added bullpen depth with the return of set-up man Guillermo Mota, who completed his 50-game suspension for using a performance-enhancing substance. Mota, who has been pitching at Triple-A New Orleans, forfeited nearly one-third of his $1.8 million salary for 2007.

  7. go recruit posters. Ask Plax what he did. He must have brought a dozen posters but maybe 5 regular ones.

Yeah, what I basically did was make a gamethread or posted an interview then once posted I copy/pasted the link on the mets official message board. people click the link and brought them to my mets section when we had the David Wright banner on the top. They would read my topic, and some joined... only bad thing was that a majority of them were Mets/Jets fan, and when they saw the number of Giant fans they stopped posting. :brooding: I still have alot of active members that still stop by, but like JR said only a handful are consistently posting. I need to start recruiting again

  8. Through with Yanks, Mets visit Braves

New York (28-16) at Atlanta (26-18), Tuesday, 7:35 p.m. ET

The Subway Series has ended, the Mets got the better of the Yankees despite a 6-2 loss on Sunday and the Empire State Building will no longer flaunt the navy, white, orange and blue colors on its sides.

You'd think the Mets could take a breather. But no, work has just begun as the team travels to Atlanta to take on the Braves, who sit just 2 1/2 games back in the National League East. At 7:35 p.m. ET on Monday, every player donning orange and blue colors will tunnel his focus into one goal -- staying atop the division.

"All the series are important," Damion Easley said. "I don't think we can highlight this one more so than any other. It's going to be an important series because that's who we play next. No matter what, if we play well, we like our chances."

Jorge Sosa will take the mound in the first of three games against the Braves. The right-hander has faced Atlanta -- his former team -- just once in his career. In that game, he went six innings and allowed five hits and one run. He held the Braves to a .227 average at the plate but took the loss.

The Mets are 2-4 against the Braves this season.

"Moving into Atlanta and facing those guys who are running our tail, we have to return the favor," Mets right fielder Shawn Green said.

Kyle Davies is slated to start for the Braves. He owns a 1-2 record and a 5.17 ERA this season. In his last start against the Mets, in early April, Davies limited the Mets to two solo home runs in 6 2/3 innings.

    Pitching matchup

NYM: RHP Jorge Sosa (3-0, 2.25 ERA)

Sosa is coming off his most effective start of the season. Against the Cubs on Wednesday, the right-hander became the fifth pitcher in Mets history to win his first three starts, as he allowed just one hit in seven innings.

ATL: RHP Kyle Davies (1-2, 5.17 ERA)

Davies battled some tough luck in his last start, as four unearned runs scored in the fifth inning on Wednesday against the Nationals. In each of his last three outings, Davies has shown better control, and he's said that his changeup is coming around.

    Player to watch

No player on the Braves has had more than 10 at-bats against Sosa. Andruw Jones, however, does have a hit and an RBI off the right-hander in his three career plate appearances against him.

  9. Mets to host crosstown rival Yankees

    Yankees (18-21) at Mets (26-14), 7:10 p.m. ET

It's old hat to some of them now. Tom Glavine has worn a Mets uniform for 24 Interleague games against the Yankees; Carlos Beltran for 12. The thrill isn't gone, but it has dissipated.

"The games themselves are exciting," Glavine says. "But getting tickets for everyone and wondering about the traffic..."

The newer Mets are curious, though. Shawn Green arrived late last season, well after New York's teams had split their six games. He wonders what it will be like on Friday night. He recalls how, in the other clubhouses, the New York series took precedence over all others during postgame "SportsCenter" viewing. He doesn't recall anyone rooting for the Mets, he remembers most teammates rooting against the Yankees.

"I think you're either a Yankees fan," Green said Thursday, "or you're totally against them. Not much middle ground."

But he's looking forward to what he anticipates will be "a unique baseball experience."

All of it will be new to Joe Smith, the rookie reliever.

"I'm expecting it to be fun, to be great," he said. "I didn't want the Yankees to win [in the 2000 World Series against the Mets]. I really don't want them to win now."

But Smith has an agenda that involves New York's other team.

"I want to face those guys," he said. "What an experience! A-Rod and Jeter. Of course you want to face the great players."

Neither Scott Schoeneweis nor fellow veteran Aaron Sele was particularly moved by the prospect of the three-game against the Yankees, but based on the television coverage -- SNY Friday night, FOX Saturday and ESPN Sunday night -- Schoeneweis suggested "Friday is the biggest game in New York, Saturday's the biggest in the nation and Sunday's the biggest in the universe."

NYY: LHP Andy Pettitte (2-2, 2.68 ERA)

Pettitte has a 7-2 record and 3.39 ERA in 15 career starts against the Mets.

    Player to watch

Carlos Delgado, far more productive against left-handed pitching than right-handed this season, has a .362 average, 10 walks, two doubles and five home runs in 68 career plate appearances against Pettitte.

  10. Not looking forward to it. If you guys dont sweep, I'll be surprised.

It's going to be 2 of 3... which the way we played the crappy Cubs that could either be 2 of 3 Yanks or Mets. 2 games that we beat the Cubs we had to come back in the end to win... I understand today's game we had our scrubs out there, but 2 games ago we got madd lucky...

  11. Not his fault Lo Duca and Gotay are morons. How do two runs score on a

infield fly rule, better yet Plax, tell what the infield fly rule is.

The fickleness of some Mets fans is downright disgusting.

If you boo Pelfrey, might as well boo Joe Smith, fucking asshole, dickhead gave up a run.

Dude I never said he was on my shit list just because of this game... from the highlights I see on ESPN he hasn't played that great all season... I'm sorry if I don't like having a pitcher who's record is (0-5)
