  1. agreed many of Mannings passes that were dropped were in the fingertips as opposed to the palms...remember that Hixon drop? Damn it Manning stop hitting their fingertips!
  2. which is one more than he had on this date 2 years ago .. as in April 2007 he hit ZERO homers and drove in 6 runs...
  3. ummm we now have a pass defender at WILL now, his name is Michael Boley, one of the more athletic cover lbers in the league, hence why his abilities to do so will make it easier on the MLB and allow that player(no matter who it is) to be less reliant on covering backs and TE's out of the backfield.
  4. Wright needs to just say FUCK IT and relax. He is too good a ballplayer to take this kind of shit. Maybe being a lifelong Met fan I remember the shit that has manned 3b... from Hubie Brooks to Bill Pecota, this guy is the best we have EVER had and its time we appreciate it and take the good with the bad.. he will be fine. now the corner of positions on the other hand........
  5. The Mets will come out, sticks ablazing and as they have done since the opening of that bandbox will knock in a ton of runs. Does this translate to wins? Not sure yet.... but with all the talk of Wright sucks and whats in his head and no key hits blah blah blah I think a little 3 game series in the land of little league parks will do wonder for this teams confidence at the plate. Last year recall Wright had 6 rbis and no home runs in April, so his troubles aside from the year long lack of hits with RISP does not worry me. Remember this guy prior to the debacle of 2007(which this franchise from top to bottom still suffers from) was a 300+ hitter in clutch situations. I believe in the law of averages and the averages have balanced out for him sadly its conincided with what transpired the last 2 years. Really I believe in Wright. What I do not believe in is the leadership and management of this franchise. Minaya is an overrated Gm to say the least. Give me the coin and I could get you Beltran, Pedro, Santana and Krod. No fear the offense will arrive this weekend.
  6. I never did read where he said he was not "rah rah" I read that he said he was going to have some different things in the defense, but also where he said Spags defense was something that worked for them so they will not change too much. IMO the real rah rah guy is Mike Waufle anyway....Ever see him on the sidelines in the sb XLII video? He was as fired up as anyone on that sideline.
  7. Best remark I heard about Nicks was on the NFL network by his former HC Butch Davis. I am paraphrasing here, but he said that Nicks has such good hands he can make an average QB look good. This catch was phenomenal and showed a great amount of concentration on any level.
  8. Although I agree to some extent that Pierce had a down year the coaches feel he played very well last year, including quotes from his position coach and now DC Bill Sheridan. Do not discount Pierces ability to be the Qb of the defense and make the calls. I think what the Giants effectively did this off season was get a true cover WLB in Boley who will help Pierce in coverage and maybe allow him to roam a bit more knowing that he has a WILL that can cover. Ironically one of the guys who played WILL last year who was unable to stay on the field for all 3 downs was your guy Blackburn.
  9. Through April Money looks to be correct with that assertion
  10. The question now begs... Did Jerry Manuel HAVE TO pitch Putz and Krod in a 7-1 game Monday night? 3 Guys on the team with over 10 appearances and we have no one to mop up a blowout?
  11. Cantys strengths are not in sacking the QB. He was a DE in a 3/4 which pretty much does what a DT in the 4/3(which is where he will play)and thats tie up blockers to allow more one on one for the OLB(in the Dallas case Ware, here OSI). Cantys strengths at his position come from batted down passes(as good as a sack at times) and playing the run. Also do not look at Cantys money vs Tucks money as year to year they the figures change. If they were both signed the same year then yes, but on a year to year basis obviously the figures will escalate.
  12. they do play in Queens a real hotbed for the disease
  13. I had heard that they were thinking about releasing Garcia, but were unaware they did so. His velocity just could not improve, real shame, guy was a good pitcher at one time and could have helped at some point. I would say Figueroa is a good short term option, but I am thinking more towards a longer term option for replacing Livan, who has not been horrible, but is what he is. IMO the best option is Niese, but if you can guarantee me that Ollie comes back 100% right and Maine and Pelfrey look to stay on course then I can deal with Nelson for a while too. I know Niese has not been great in AAA, but I chalk that up to a slow start. He had a good 2008 minor league season and pitched well at times with the Mets late last year.
  14. As always these games will be determined in the trenches. I know everyone likes to think the Giants got cold last year when Plax went down, but it also coincided with a D line that did not get to the Qb as much at the end as they did in the begining. In 8 quarters against the Eagles in 2 losses McNabb was not even touched much, let alone sacked often. That will be the key to the Giants, pass rush, run game, domination up front and a tweaking to a passing offense that must become more reliant on shorter passes and less downfield attacking. I think the Eagles will be good, I wonder how the defense will be without Dawkins, but they should be ok. A real key will be how healthy Westbrook stays for 16 games. Dallas should be ok. It will be interesting to see how Romo does with no TO, a WR who has been very beneficial to a mobile Qb who moves in the pocket. Washington is what they are, big names in key spots, very little depth all around. They could be a good team though as I think Campbell is a good WB that really has something to prove.
  15. Eagles had a very good draft and I would expect this as they seem to restock the roster very well under the Reid/Banner regime.. With that said the Giants also had a good draft. They filled some needs and got some very good players, alebeit in college, but i guess that goes for everyone when it comes to grading drafts.
  16. Go make up some mystery injury, let him work on his mechanics and get some rehab starts. You know he is not going to accept a minor league assignment like Trachsel did in 2001, but he may be willing to have an injury(like Wang) and go find out whats wrong. IMO its his delivery and arm angle, very correctable. If so and they do this who do you want to see. Dillion Gee? Jon Niese? Freddy Garcia?
  17. I know Krod and Putz need work, but Parnell or Green could not have finished this one off???
  18. yes he has size and good hands....I am also anxious to see ELI where there is NO ONE that he will be forced to throw the ball to. He is the veteran now and they can do as he tells them.
  19. Its so good to see Maine have a good outing. I think once his rustiness wears off from the missed time and surgery last year he will be ok. When he is spotting that fastball at 92-95 like he did early tonight his stuff is as good as anyones.
  20. Midas hit the nail on the head, if he or any other WR or Te can become a real red zone (sorry Tom green zone) target we do not need a #1 WR. I also think changing the passing philosophy from more downfield passes to shorter intermediate passing will improve things as well. This is not to take away the downfield game, but maybe cutting it down and using more play action for the downfield stuff.
  21. well there is Clark, Boley, Wilkinson, Goff, Kehl, Pierce, DeOssie, Blackburn, and now Simtin, so who knows. Certainly not the big blue wrecking crew but some nice players in there who showed something last year, particularly Kehl.
  22. Tynes deal might look like a lot but from a guaranteed money perspective he is very cuttable and would not be looked at as a huge financial mistake if they did so. I think a Cb and maybe a S have a real good shot of making this roster as an UDFA. Imagine being a DE or DT coming to camp with this team?
  23. So now I am an asshole? Again personal attacks.... not surprised....will not dignify it or stoop to your level though so nice try. So I tried to provoke a fight by asking a simple, almost innocent question in terms of the Mets roster and makeup in regards to EX Met jesus Flores, a young player who seems to be getting better at the major league level.....talk about trying to find a needle in a haystack...no problem I will cease to ask you any question that you seem to be insecure about....more on that later BTW JIM if the people that do it so choose I will post the PM's where others send me hysterical notes about my back and forth with you laughing at you....and that is not a lie..... I miss a lot? 1 homer on a stat(that you looked up) and 1 birth year(that you also looked up) yeah I miss a lot. As it concerns you I am confident in saying I am more intelligent than you. Again it does not matter to me, this is a MB and its baseball, not real and not anything to get me all ruffled up about, quite frankly I do not give a flying fuck what you think about me because I am sure as on this MB I would not like you if I met you outside the MB anyway...... Here is how it is JIM, I am done with you. No more, I will quietly laugh at you in the background and continue to discuss things with people who actually have an opinion I give a fuck about. Adios
