  1. Whether or not you hear about it later doesn't matter. Will Allen was supposed to be a steal at where we picked him, but I wouldn't consider him a steal now. In hindsight, the best example is Dayne, everybody cries but we could have had Shaun Alexander. Well dayne won the Heisman and held the record for yards in college. When we had to get a running back that year and Dayne was still there at 10 it was a smart move to pick him, even if he disappointed us, nothing dayne did in college led us to believe he'd flop in the pros. Did Buffalo reach, yes!. Did they get the player they wanted?. They think so. That's all you can ask.
  2. Okay, I get it. We drafted the guy now let's build a case for why EA made such a good move with this pick. IMO, it's simply not a good move. Years ago, we needed a tight end, the best one available was Shockey, we traded up to get him. We needed a running back when we picked up Dayne. We needed a corner: we traded up to get Will Allen We held our ground and picked Shaun Williams up because we needed safety help. Ike Hilliard was a need, hell you could say Eli was a need because of the fact that Collins had one year on his contract. We needed help at DT a few years back when we drafted William Joseph. Even last year, Corey Webster was a need at corner. Fact is, in previous drafts, we've filled needs, you cannot deny this. Even though Allen, Williams, Dayne and to a lesser extent Hilliard never became studs that you expect from first rounders, the Giants did the right thing with those drafts and can be only faulted for bad scouting. DE was not a need before this years draft. How many people here were calling for Strahan's eventual replacement prior to this draft.? About as many as were looking for Tiki's, a guy who has hinted that when his contract is up, he's gone, Strahan hasn't said anything!. Yet we never thought about getting a running back. DT was a need, did we address it with Cofield, I hope so, I truly hope we did and he pans out because I want the Giants to win. But everything points to the fact that McCargo was the better pick. Be it late first round or late 2nd round. We could have had him at 25 because he went 26. I find it funny to hear guys say we have to pick the best available player, but isn't the purpose of that defeated when you trade down seven spots, just to get later round picks. We're giving up on the possibility of the 25th best player in the draft and are satisfied with getting the 32nd best. Very strange.
  3. I like drafting part time players in the later rounds sure. Sinorice Moss could be an everydown player as early as next year. Personally anybody drafted in the first/second round should be projected as a starter in 1-2 years IMO. That's why they get picked that high and it's not unreasonable. After watching Justin Tuck play last year, there is a very good possibility that when strahan does leave (which could be 3-4 years from now), Tuck could be the one to take his place. fact is our need was DT and if we stayed where we were we could have taken McCargo. Now is it possible that he might suck after we pick him? sure. But the idea is to get a guy to play a position you need to fill. how pissed off will everybody be is this kid Kiwi comes in and sucks up the joint, everybody is going to be crying that we should have drafted a DT. Money likes to use the term you pick players not positions but last time I looked John Mc Cargo was a player.
  4. That makes some sense, but a first rounder on a part time player is a little expensive IMO.
  5. As much as BlueSunday may be a dick and that board is a cesspool of nonsense, you could have kept that comment to yourself. Sorry, but if you only got 24 hours you got off lightly IMO. But if that encouraged you to come over here to post then that's cool.
  6. The "rigid" system in DC is what made them one of the top defenses in the league and got Gregg Williams such a huge contract so he wouldn't leave for another job. If you're thinking that Lavar's problem are solely Williams and Snyder's problems then you're wearing blinkers. They paid him a lot of money to play in that defense and they had to bench him several times. And there were a lot of Giant fans here that said they didn't want him before we got him, myself included, and I stand true to that. I hope I am proven wrong because that way the Giants will be the beneficiary and that's all that matters. But let's not kid oursleves here, lavar is no saint. As for Plaxico, let's ease off on Ultra competitive because that's simply not the case. fact is Plaxico is a good wideout, but he takes plays off and he shown (very obvious) that he gives up on plays. And the issue of them working out in Miami is a problem, Eli needs to get familar with them in camp and to see Shockey and Plaxico gesturing their disgust at Manning is wrong. Timing is everything, just ask Marvin Harrison and Peyton Manning. There is a HUGE difference between bringing in a rookie with character issues as opposed to a proven veteran. Christian Peter is an example of a guy who was an asshole in college, Giants gave him a chance anyway and he turned into a model citizen and player. So what you're saying is not always true.
  7. Don't agree on the running back situation. Dangelo Williams and lendale white are talented rb's, you can easily sneak them in. I'm like you, I like Derrick Ward, but he's not so talented he couldn't be replaced by either one of them. At 25 or 56, McCargo would have been a better pick than barry cofield. You're drafting players not positions comment holds some water. In that case why is Matt Leinart sliding to 10?. Hell based on his college career, he's top 3 or 4. You're comment about Whimper?. After pick 87?. I'm not sure what you are talking about, and I didn't say I had a problem with Whimper. I was just noting that before the draft that I hoped we'd address the offensive line backup in the 3rd. And the character guys issue?. I can understand that maybe you went in with the idea to get character guys, but if you're the same guys that just forked over millions to rumored malcontents such as Lavar and Plaxico. If you're using that theory to rate Cofield over Wroten, well then that's being a little bit hypocritical and maybe denies us a talented player who might just behave himself when he's in the league, who knows?. Hell, this is the org that gave Christian Peter a chance and turned it's head when LT played.
  8. The post barber era could well come before post Strahan. In fact Tiki has hinted this. So why not pick a running back?. Toomer could be on his way out, why not pick a wideout with the first. I'm sorry,I don't like this move at all. There was too much maneuvering done to make picks like this. A guy like Mc Cargo could have been picked up with the 25th pick. If you trade down to 32 you were well justified to take Moss and then your later second round pick could be used on someone like Claude Wroten, who is rated higher than Cofield. A third rounder could you have been used on backup help for the offensive line.
  9. Obviously you have no idea about the Jets. There is no savior for the Jets, and as soon as they see one threatening to become one, they trade him. The Jets rarely have bad drafts. But the Jets rarely keep those picks any longer than 4 years. The franchise sucks!
  10. You're thinking along the same lines as myself. Dangelo Williams is going to have a big career, he's going to surprise a lot of people, the kid is good.
  11. If we hadn't traded down, we could have had McCargo. If we stay at 32, I would take Sinorice with 32 and then stay where we were in the 2nd round and take Claude Wroten. I know the Rams took him in the 3rd, but this kid has a big upside to his game and he will be a starter in the league. Later rounds we go for backups at offensive line, linebacker and secondary.
  12. We deserve a C+ at most, and that's because of Moss.
  13. Lewis is a perfect choice to go the NFL europe, but anybody that spoke to him told him he needs to play offensive line and not tight end.
  14. Wow, are you talking about all teams or just the Giants? Our draft doesn't even compare to Philly's IMO.
  15. Guys, we went into the draft with holes at DT. We simply have to fill that hole. This theory about replacing Strahan in a few years is nonsense. Frankly, it looks like Tiki will retire before Strahan, so why not get his replacement now? In fact if the Giants had drafted Moss in the first round, it would have made more sense than this. We reach in the first round and address a need in the 2nd? The giants drafted Cofield in the 3rd, whilst all signs point to him being a solid player at college level, it's been said he will not make any plays for us. What the fuck does this mean, he's just going to stand there? This was a disappointing draft compared to the last 2-3. Even Webster's pick in the 2nd last year was better than this IMO.
  16. That pick makes zero sense in my opinion. If the idea was for Giants to pick the best available athlete, then Lendale White should be a Giant right now. It would make as much sense as this. I'm baffled by this move. He could turn into a real good player, but unless they think about turning him into a DT, it makes no sense. Sinorice Moss was a nice pickup though and may continue our streak of picking up great 2nd rounders.
  17. If I was the Jets, I'd be giving up this year's 1st and a 1st and 3rd to the saints for the second pick. Curtis martin has slowed down and Reggie Bush would give the Jets a huge shot in the arm. What the fuck is wrong with the Texans?. How pissed off must David Carr be? No offensive line and finally a chance for instant offense and now this?. Isn't Gary Kubiak an offensive coach?. This is George Rodgers / LT all over again. Mario Williams is going to be an impact player for the Texans, because he's going to be on the fucking team all the time. By the way, you gotta love Michael Irvin's reaction to the news. He tore casserly up.
  18. Well, that's almost the 2nd round. But yeah, i could see Pittsburgh take a chance on him. They've nothing to lose and there's a spot open.
  19. Ask Philly fans if thy think Mike Mamula was a great player for them becuase of his great bench numbers. You gotta look for guys who will be good ball players, not good weightlifters.
  20. I think Lendale White is the candidate for dropping into the second round. I thought maybe he'd do a Willis Mcgahee and get drafted late in the first but i just can't see it now. But I think who ever gets him is going to get a steal. This kid was real good in college, just the guy ahead of him was a bit special
  21. gateb and Vic carucci.................who knew?
  22. [interesting, you can get a Warner jersey, and an OJ Anderson jersey, but not TIKI BARBER!
  23. Did you know you're quoted on the GMB about Arrington. Or am I a dope who is behind the times.
  24. If he could catch balls out of the backfield he'd be even more special. Hell line him up at tight end. He'll play anywhere that kid, he just wants to be out there.
