  1. LOL....its cool. :afro:

And thanks joemorris, youre a definite solid too..........

As for cowboyz, who knows, maybe an apology is order. If youre truly not eggy. Its just a lil too coincidental, him popping up to defend himself after being gone for so long coincidentally when you arrive. And I dont like that guy, so I tore into you.

Oh, and, BTW, you aint owning anything. I can talk football, I choose not to with certain people. And some here may prefer your trash talk, as where other places mines preferred. Like I said, its a matter of opinion. You cant just say youre owning someone and its true.

no apology necessary. just tell blunatic to come back. if he left because he doesn't want me here, i'll leave.

    simple as that.

  2. Cheap.

Actually, there's TWO Giant's QBs on that list, and both have something no Cowboys QB since Aikman have come close to seeing: a SB win.

Hell, Kerry Collins got further than any Cowboy QB since Aikman--and I wouldn't take him back if it meant I got his paycheck. Well, all right, I'm exaggerating here--I'd take Joe Pisarcik at his current age back if it meant I got his paycheck. Just don't start him, Tom. I know he's a veteran player, but that would be manslaughter...

Take a good look at this list: two of the most dominant teams in the NFL in the 70's--Pittsburgh and Oakland--and BOTH their QBs were "terrible?" Seems to me that they were both able to beat Tarkington, and Bradshaw beat Staubach twice in the big game. You can't claim it was all defense, either--that rematch with Dallas was a shootout, and you don't have Fred Biletnikoff in the HOF without someone throwing to him.

Doug Williams? Would you want to be on Tampa Bay during the 70's? It's a miracle the guy even made it to 1987 starting his career there.

With the exception of Dilfer, since that team was winning games without offensive scoring, every team on that list got to be the only one to hold a Lombardi that season. You simply don't do that without a good offense, and that can't happen with a Steve Pelluer.

yea that comment was meant to elicit a laugh.

if you want to discredit the list, why not just point out the fact we're mixing eras of football. it's stupid to compare qbs from a run first era to qb's of the pass first era. just look at complexity of playbooks now vs then. look at the defensive changes qb's today have to account for at the line vs then. look at the pass first then run philosophy so many teams have taken to. there list discreditted in less than 500 words.

you mention dilfer, then claim you can't win with a pelluer. contradiction.

    here's to pisarscik's comeback :cheers

  3. he also held Jeff Fuller, who is an top nfl prospect to one reception. He faced more, then Blackmon in his career in did well against the best talent. Also Ryan Broyles, he held to 3 catches for 61 yards. Dennard was on the other side, and he is a first round talent for next years draft, but Amukamara faced each teams top receiver and did well.

To be fair Blackmon only had two big catches in that game too, both for long td's and One of them was them was because Prince got no safety help, over the top, on a flea flicker. He did well against Blackmon for the majority of that game. You take away the two TD's, the one I was referring too was 80 yards, Blackmon only had three catches for 27 yards, was a complete non factor in the second half. oh yeah, NEBRASKA won the game.

thanks for discussing the topic and not making it personal.

i agree that fuller and broyles are top prospects, but neither have blackmon's skills, which is why he's considered nfl ready, and not simply a top prospect.

amuka was left on an island all year long, including the osu game vs blackmon. that is def admirable, and if he can do it in the pros then he was truly a top ten talent.

prince never had safety help in that game, and yes i know that gears toward your point more than mine. 5 catches 150+ yards, and two td's. would've been 3 td's, but prince realized he was beat on another and committed pass interference. and several times blackmon got open only to be over or underthrown. take away this play or that play, but it just doesn't work like that.

nebraska winning the game is neither here nor there when discussing the matchup.

    good post

  4. I think Reese has shown he can handle a draft pretty damn well. I'll trust his evaluation over any blogger's.

Reese's drafts aren't spectacular. maybe above avg. he has as many misses as the next guy.

  5. Well, no shit. And you could find somebody like Brady in the 6th round or Draft Heath Shuler 3rd overall. Speculation is fine, but when even your opposing view article says he should be a solid starter, I don't see the downside at all. Sure, we could have drafted someone else and they could of ended up being great, or they could have ended up being horrible, but evidently even the fans/experts who don't love the guy still like him enough to label him a solid starter. Well, I mean you do have Parcells in there who thinks his short arms are going to greatly hinder his career.

or ryan leaf 2nd. yep. no shit indeed. the draft is a crapshoot.

most teams are drafting for more than 'solid starter' in the first round. the author's believe better players who also fit needs were available, many would agree, and many would disagree.

Parcell's is an excellent judge of football talent. He doesn't like prince. Mel Kiper loves prince, and coincidentally also loved Schuler and Leaf. I think i'll go with BP on this one.

  6. if youre doin that cause of me, just come back.

this is your board. looks like youve been here a long time, so i'll go

this is just another mb to me.

ps i tried to send this privately, but it wouldn't let me.

  7. By who's definition? Evidently he was the BPA according to the Giants, and if he turns out to be a solid starter as your article claims, I don't see where the downside is.

in this case it would be the consensus of the guys writing the article, gint fans.

in any other case, it would be the definition/opinion of the author/speaker.

the gints never worked him out, most teams that did passed.

the downside is this, if you draft that solid starter at 19, you could be missing out on the perrenial probowler.

do you think aaron ross was a solid first round pick, for ex.

ofcourse it's all speculation at this point, until he gets on the field.

but nothing wrong with speculatin durin the offseason. right?

  8. 1 Fluke Super Bowl victory > an antire generation of cowboys fans who only have their fathers stories about America's Team.

Fluke Play, Fluke win, fluke season, call it the fluke super bowl for all I care. Rename Eli and Tyree , Fluke Manning and David Fluke and it's still better than the alternative.

haha it wasn't that long ago my friend.

exactly right. i made this point very early on in this thread, and it got lost in all the spec.

I'd take a fluke win over nothing. who wouldn't.

  9. Well if you look at that. How did Blackmon do against CBs that where top flight talent, Players in D1 are all have great skills weather they go to A powerhouse or bottom dweller,

the guy didn't get less than 100 yards in any game, except the one game he missed. scored in every game. scored 20 tds as a wr, plus one rushing, plus one punt ret.

    he's a beast.

prince did hold him to his fewest catches in a game, but blackmon still netted 150+ yds, 1 td, another would-be td turned pass-interference on prince.

  10. The Immaculate Reception, the Memphis Miracle....those were more "flukey" than Manning-Tyree.

I remember when Phil McConkey caught a TD that was originally a dropped pass by Bavaro....some could call that a fluke.

But, Manning breaking out of a collapsing pocket, throwing a pass downfield to Tyree, who makes an incredible, leaping grab.....I'd call that much more a product of effort than luck.

"Resilient" is a much better description of the play than "fluke".

As your guy Troy Aikman said, "That's a great catch by David Tyree".....

Let's go to the tape for confirmation....(0:50).

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27XeNefwABw&feature=related

all of which is a matter of opinion. exactly what we've been going back and forth with for 10 pages now. Anyone of those can be a fluke. Calling one such, doesn't exclude the rest from it as well.

what would you expect the commentator to say? is he supposed to be biased cause he's a HoF cowboy?

it was a great catch, and just like the others you mentioned, it can be a great catch and a fluke.

  11. If you call 12 years a short time then I guess he'll have another 12 years before his potential is realised. I am sure the Cowboys can wait. Also blaming the D for the Giants record is asinine. It's a team sport and the O let the team down far more than the D. Total YPG, Passing YPG and Rushing YPG are considered the measurements of a good defense.

12 yrs isn't a long time to be in the nfl, and as i've stated, he has been a good coach, and a respected coach around the nfl.

Let's see, in the games the giants lost, they were outscored 210 to 109. That's 6 games. Your defense gave up an average of 35 points in its 6 losses, and you don't think they deserve blame?

perhaps perry shares your philosophy on ypg, maybe his job hinges on making top ten in yards allowed instead of wins.

  12. Agreed. So let's see how the guy performs... and what level he reaches ... but not just in year 1. We think we got a steal... I know that because that's what most analysts said... and since I got a different day job, I trust their judgment when it comes to football... besides I feel that pic was more geared towards shutting down your freak WR.. (sorry his name escapes me)

dez bryant, coincidentally from same school as blackmon. to be fair to prince, blackmon is by most accounts better than dez.

  13. thanks for reaffirming my point there pieboy.

If "NFL READY WRs" are extremely rare in college Football ( which was actually MY point ), it would seem a very poor choice of metric by which to judge college DBs.

You might as well have said that Prince did not defend well against 8 foot tall, 4 armed extra terrestrials while in college.

haha, i wasn't criticizing the guy for NOT playing nfl ready wr's. I"m criticizing for his performance vs the top tier talent in Justin Blackmon. he hardly has any control over his schedule.

    how ridiculous

    pieboy? :jerkoff:

  14. Then that settles it. Look I know some people like to talk trash.. I'm not one of them (unless I wanna bust your chops)... the truth is the Cowboys were great in the 90s.. n we hated them... and most of America hates them because they were arrogant pricks... Emmit Smith always talked smack everytime he scored... and that's why those very fans are enjoying the train wreck that's been the Cowboys... it's great entertainment... nothing brings a Philly fan and a Giant fan together... nothing.. except a train wreck that Jerry Jones built. And I say that with nothing but love bro :)

    i like this guy.

    respect

  15. 21/30 for 256 yards against the cards. Goes 78 yards in the last drive in 2 minutes to win the game. Real shitty performance I guess.

1 td and 1 int. pedestrian performance by ben, game winning drive or not.

combine that performance with his first sb win and you have the reason he's on this list.

    9/23 123 yds 0 tds 2 ints vs seattle=shitty

    29/53 for 379yds 1td and 3 picks in sb victories=shitty

true, the author claims consideration for all career stats, but i am not the author.

interesting that elisha did the same thing, yet youre not defending her here.

  16. Must.....avoid....the ... point.....at all costs.

Even the ravens knew what they had in Dilfer, and cut him the next season.

facing O'Donnell subpar or not, the point is that perhaps a better QB wouldn't have telegraphed passes to a mediocre corner. I mean the guy owes his huge free agent contract with the raiders to Neil O'Donnell for Christ's sake.

Let's discuss that so, you don't think there was a certain flukiness to you winning that superbowl?

haha right, what point are you making?

that o'donnell was the 12th highest rated qb that year and had the lowest int % prior to the superbowl?

or that the cowboys had the 3rd ranked defense and held opposing qb's to a 72 rating avg that year?

or that o'donnell had to throw at brown because there was an all-pro on the other side of the field?

    what exactly is your point?
