  1. Here's a look at the Big Picture. Last year, the Giants started off 6-2. Eli had big games against St. Louis and San Diego, in consecutive weeks. Through the first three games, he had a rating of 88.7, 689 yards 5 TD and 2 INT. Through the Denver game, Eli had some nice games including the come from behind win in the Denver game. Starting with the 36-0 Redskin Massacre in the Meadowlands, Eli began a precipitous fall. Eli's rating in the Washington game was 51.3 for 146 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. He also had a season low for accuracy at 38.7% or 12 for thirty-one. After winning in week eight to push the overall record to 6-2, the Giants were piosed for a dominant year. They then lost to Minnesota in week 9. Eli was 23 for 48, 47.9% for 291 yards 1 TD and 4 INT and 39.5 rating. He bounced back against Philly with a solid day. 17 for 26, 65.4% 218 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT a 130 rating. Against Seattle he had big yardage, a couple of TD's and one pick. Beginning with Dallas and ending with Washington, the Giants won and lost in spite of or due to, respectively, Eli. Over the last five games of the season, Eli was 92 of 172, 53.5% 1098 yards 4 TD, 7 INT, a 64.1 rating. The last game against Oakland padded that last section some as Eli tanked against Dallas with a season low 29.7 rating, tied his season low for accuracy of 38.7% and had 0 TD and 2 INT. In the second Philly game while throwing for over three hundred yards, he also completed three passes to the defense. He had a 63.6% accuracy rating, 28 for 44. He also had a TD pass. KC was Tiki day and Eli didn't have enough if the Giants needed it as he went 17 for 32 53.1% 1 TD 1 INT and a 68 rating. And against Washington the second time..... Painfully mediocre 23 for 41 for 244 1 TD 1 INT a 76.1 rating. Was exactly lighting the world on fire there. While the defense was injured towards the end of the year, that's no excuse for Manning's poor play over the course of the Second half of the season. The Giants are now heading into the second half of the season now and guess who started off hot, and is now starting to fall off the face of the Earth. I'll give you a hint: He's a former #1 pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. He was traded for two first round picks and a second round pick. He lead the team to a 6-2 first half record in 2005. Eli Manning needs to prove that he can close out a season. I don't want the blank to be filled in in 2006 the way it was in 2005.
  2. Well you're not looking at the big picture. If you were you'd note how last year he did what....... Last year, the Giants started off 6-2. 3. Ahhhhh horse hockey. It's got nothing to do with not taking sacks. As a matter of fact, maybe if he took some sacks, his turnover rate would be down. Stop reguritating something you herd once because it's ridiculous. His accuracy rating is down because he has poor accuracy. Nothing more, nothing less. He doesn't put the ball where it needs to be making catching the ball difficult. He doesn't deliver the ball well enough more often than not. He's 6'4" tall and he plays like he's 4'6", it's time for him to grow up and start making plays consistently. I'm tired of hearing about swirling winds and sack aversion. He's not accurate because he's either not that good, or because he's in a funk. I'd like to believe that it's the latter, but it's looking more like the trend than the exception. But, with a handle like yours, you'll defend him until your death.
  4. that swing to Tiki in the flats was a flat out abortion of a pass. It was utterly disgusting. He really needs to screw his head on straight. Period.
  5. They are right on target. After this week, if they lose to Tennessee, this season is over and they should plummet to 20 and under.
  6. The reason they were giving up so many yards was because of the fact that at the very least Stroud was out. I agree they needed to run more, yet by the time they got a first down they were so far behind. They sucked period. But I blame Eli for the most part. He's disappointing a lot of people on that team.
  7. The whole team really didn't suck. it was mostly Eli throwing the ball anywhere but where it needed to go. His lack of accuracy puts his receivers in vulnerable positions, leaving them less than confident in catching the ball. Think about it, any QB in the league throws a TD instead of an INT on that roll out INT. Anyone. That was a terrible throw, mostly because he once again threw off his back foot rather than getting his back hip around and allowing him to get more rotation and power on his throw. Instead of killing the team, he lifts them up. The offensive line did a nice job pass blocking and gave Eli more than enough time. He just sucked that bad. As far as run blocking, well, the Giants schemes weren't great. Running the ball at Henderson and Stroud is never going to work. They needed to get the LB's out of the box by splitting the TE out. Or even running some counter plays.
  8. Last night was the first night in a long time where the refs really made calls that aided the Giants. But as njsmalls pointed out, they stepped on their dicks more often than not.
  9. This argument is tired and played. Just because other QB's started out struggling doesn't mean that all of the sudden Eli is going to start progressing. This is the second straight year that he has failed in being anything that remotely resembles consistency. He really needs to start stringing together successful drives. Then games. Then seasons. Right now, he can't even string together two successful throws. He was god awful last night. And please, stop with the hater thing. People should be concerned when peopel like me stop complaining. It's only because I see much more than Eli is giving. He's falling way short of anyhting that was expected of him at this point. I love that people are pointing to these stats. But what about Romo? And Rivers? They didn't need to suck before they started playing well, so why is it alright for Eli to suck just because a few pro bowlers sucked ealry in their careers?
  10. Well, another game has gone by, and Eli has now solidified the fact that he is garbage. Had he actually thrown the ball like a man yesterday, instead of an INT Burress would've had two TD's. Eli wasn't pressured and unusual amount yesterday. He just sucks. Sucks real bad. His accuracy, his demeanor. I mean he throws a pick, then he's over on the sideline drinking Gatorade with a look of, eh, whatever. I supported Eli for long enough, he needs to start performing period. He has been god awful for how many games now? And all you that came on here defending him, whatdo you have to say now? He still plays like a rookie. Making rookie mistakes. His accuracy is garbage. I really wanted them to pull him last night and put in Lorenzen. Let Eli know that nothing is for certain. Burress. Boy, ever since I met him I've hated him, and he furthered my hate last night. Could he be an more lazy if he tried. How many times are the coaches going to try to run Tiki at the two biggest DT's in the world? How about some misdirection to the outside. The defense did a great job last night considering they played for 40 minutes. Nice job by them. Bob Whitfield and the line played decently, bu the run game never got started. the ran stupid plays always up the middle, that were snuffed out immediately. Anyone pleased with this team right now? Eff injuries, that's not the problem. The defense palyed well enough to get a win. That's where the injuries are. Eli sucked big fat balls again.
  11. I understand that fully. Though, WJ always seemed a little undersized at DT in my opinion. Who knows, maybe this move will shock the world....
  12. Is limited strictly to use by Jakkstroud and douche bag trolls?
  13. I disagree about Joseph. He's played well this season so far. But, like everyone else he needs to meet consistency.
  14. Whoa fella. You're giving way too much credit. No one over there is creative enough, nor knows the proper number of syllables required to write a Haiku.
  15. The thing about the win streak is not that people didn't talk so much, it's just that it was easier to let the shortcomings go by. That being said, this most recent failure was extremely disappointing. But the GMB does suck big fat donkey balls. There are good posters over there, but there's not enough enforcement of trolling.
  16. Lance Legree is back? I don't remember minding him when he played. Always seemed to be around the ball.

    Moss

Ummmm..... tell Steve Smith and Santana Moss that a WR screen is one of the worst plays in football. One, while the CB can jump the route, a pump and go would be a devastating play call that would screw up any overzealous corner that wanted to jump the screen. Two, it's a risk reward and the reward is certainly worth the risk. As a matter of fact, I don't think I've seen too many picks of WR screens. The most intercepted ball would be the swing to the flats a la Kerry Collins.
  18. Well, you're lumping "pretty" big in with big. Last year Carolina. This year, Indy, Seattle, Chicago. The divisional games are big games, but not on the scale of playing the Conference Champs, the and two other teams that went deep in the playoffs. As far as I'm concerned, the Giants should own the other teams in this division. So those aren't big games. In your eyes every game is a big game, while they all count that's not true. Im surprised you didn't say Houston was a big one too.
  19. All with smiley's nest to them. I feel like if there's not a smiley next to a thread, it's more worth reading.
  20. Wouldn't routing refer to: directing something somewhere, or removing wood in carpentry. I think rooting is the word that loser troll is groping for.
  21. I just don't know how you can say that. That's the same theory everyone applied to the National league this year, yet there the Tigers were, getting worked. The Giants haven't beaten the reigning title holders, nor hae they beaten the Bears. They haven't [;ayed big in a big spot yet, anduntil they do, they are on a short leash.
  22. With the _____ selection in the first round of the 2007 NFL draft the NY Giants select...... Reggie Nelson, S, University of Florida With the _____ selection in the second round of the 2007 NFL draft the NY Giants select...... Earl Everett, OLB, University of Florida Sign a CB and LT in FA. There is no time to develop CB's on OT's. We need impact players at that position.
  23. In many other threads, I've stated that it's the fault of the coaching as well for not implementing some three step drop, and moving the pcoket to make up for Whitfields shortcomings. It's not all Eli, but Eli's one big bgame a year program isn't working out well. And you know what, saying other QB's screw up doesn't make it any easier when the Giants QB screws up. That may be your medicine that soothes you, but it's unsettling for me. It's not the first bad game he's had this year, his past three have been below average. I'll give him a pass against the Bucs, both QB's stunk. The coaching is very alarming, but Grossman wasn't having the problems Eli was having. Grossman wasn't missing receivers, and Grossman is 4 inches shorter, and should have smaller hands, removing your wet ball excuse. I've been nothing but an Eli supporter. I'm getting tired and frustrated with his lack of performance in any big games. That's my main focus of this thread. The Giants do not perform in big games. They haven't in the past two years. You chose to focus on Eli, however, the problem is more than Eli, as I said, the lack of adaptability makes this team a joke. They will not win the big ones until this team laerns to adjust.
  24. The problem is not the current standings of the Giants team being 6-3, but the implications of the complete ineptitude of the starting QB and coaching staff at this point in the season. They failed, again, in one of the biggest games of the season. The Giants have yet to prove they can beat the elite teams. The three losses are to: Seattle, Indy, and Chicago. The teams the Giants have beaten, well, the three other teams in the now extremely over rated NFC East, the mighty Texans, and mighty Bucaneers, both of which were hardly dominating wins. Finally the dominating performance over a rollercoaster Falcons team. All I've heard all year is well look at who they've played. I have and they haven't beaten anyone worth writing home about. If piling up wins and getting to the playoffs to be bounced inthe first orund is something you look forward to, then continue to not worry. You'll be happy that the Giants are in the playoffs. However, when the expectations are raised, like they were for me, and the team you support folds like a cheap suit all year long in the face of adversity, you begin to realize that this ship isn't going anywhere. Everyone cries about respect. Respect from the media, other fans, other teams. Well, as soon as the Giants do something worth respecting, I'll let you know. So far, this season hasn't exceeded any expectations, and we've seen the continued poor play of a supposed franchise QB, with the continuing injury struggles that have plagued this team for years. Add in the lack of discpline this team shows, and the lack of killer instinct to put teams away when they can and you have a team that will not go further than the first round. If this team makes the playoffs, they will get bounced in the first round. Guaranteed. They have not risen to the challenge yet, and always seem ot have an excuse as to why. Injuries, tough schedule, whatever. How about the simple fact that the people on the field plaed like crap, and the coaches did nothing to remedy the situation. When you have coaches that won't change what the plan is, then you have a team that will not win. Period. This game is gut check time. Will this team step up to the plate and win one of the "challenging" games they have on their schedule against one of the elite teams? Because they certainly haven't yet, and the record of the team means dick until they do.
  25. If they just rolled the pocket some, and passed off play action more, at least you get the defense to balk. At least it slows them down some.
