  1. Jack, although I share much of your enthusiasm for the Web, I also think you could say about the same for Boss or Eli. You might be able to say that Jacobs has actually become much improved. I'll take any and all however and our DB's are going to get a work out this year.
  2. I know am so glad that Webster has come on looking at what the Beagles did this offseason and knowing that Sam and RW are gone. That might be the difference in our season.
  3. Wait, I thought you spent years bitching about Kerry Collins? I estimate that's who you should still be complaining about as the worst personnel move...to acquire him. Just the same, letting Kawika go wasn't a great move, but we don't pay King's Ransome to joourneymen...
  4. I also think we will benefit greatly for losing Dawkins in the Eagles secondary. There's nothing that makes a team weak, like losing a leader. Just look at what losing the pivotal people can do and you can imagine a team that may not play the pressure package quite as well. Also, they may not stay "up" like they used to in the face of adversity.
  5. I'm counting on Donovan to be spotty this year. He's getting a little older and he's spotty at times. Regrettably, he plays pretty well against us. My anxiety is our LB's. We don't face a lot of Power Backs in the East, so speed kills and if people use fast WR, like the Eagles now have, they'll stretch deep and hit the shorts against us if we're not careful. It's the LB's that worry me the most.
  6. Dallas may be less of a deep threat: closer games. Washington may be more of a juggernaut: been a while. Philly: always seem to have our hands full here. At least our CB's are somewhat experienced by now, though no Sam and no RW anymore. What do you think will be the two determining factors in this games against our rivals? It would be too easy to say WR, I expect someone surprising to pop up, like Mario Manningham.
  7. Well, we've been Failin' with Braylen and that won't end. I know Jerry Reese gets made props for being at the healm when the SB victory came, but that was all Accorsi for the the most part. I wonder what Reese's thinking is if we're just going draft for our needs. Maybe he'll pull one out, but right now this just looks disappointing. No play for Bolden and limited movement around Edwards, hmmmmmm. Either something good is about to happen or Jerry just likes seeing our team get its nuts fed to it by Philly.
  8. what they ask for is negligable considering what we got for Shockey. It's all doable. And as for giving up Hixon, well, I could live with it.
  9. Of course these stories came out. Heck, whether he plays or not, I wouldn't be surprised to see Dallas pick him up either way. Of course, they've just gotten some egg off of their face, so that's not extremely likely. Furthermore, I think it's more likely that he's not playing this year and let's see what a year out of the game did to Pacman Jones, so I wouldn't worry just yet. Like all things, Plax's career with us is over and I'm not worried about himi right now. Me thinks the G made a decision somewhere between general dislike of the guy and a pretty well founded belief that he's not going to be doing anything buy catching balls in his face this year.
  10. upon conviction and fulfillment of his jail sentence, let's say a short of 6 months, then he will be promptly punished by Czar Goddell (a total fucking idiot IMO) and so even if Plax was back for the last half of the season, you expect him to be in shape to play...no, not likely. I think everyone should factor his age, the trouble he's in, Goddell, and start realizing that #17 will never take the field on our behalf again. He'll be out; he'll be available, but at his age to miss a year, then comeback...I doubt it. Assuming that he could come back, TC seems very luke warm about him, that's for sure. We're all assuming that he won't get a full year...a full year is a long time to not be jogging. With the Mayor chiming in, I would anticipate the DA isn't looking to become the most unpopular guy at city hall. It's a shame, when I think of what Plax did for us in the playoff run to the SB and even in last year's home opener, wow, "I think to myself," wow!
  11. if he goes to jail, then he'll get a league suspension (no doubt), and then you assume that he'd be in any playing shape. Get ready boys, he's not going to be around and he's not going to be effective when you expect him to show up in game shape. This isn't the same as working through an injury. We'll make some moves soon, keep him on the roster, and this is probably the beginning of the end for him. The only way this doesn't come to pass is if he gets something of a token of a month in jail and starts it ASAP. Too bad, that fellow could have been a big part of our legacy, but if any of you think that's still going to happen then you are too optimistic to be Giants fans.
  12. cool stuff, haven't ever seen it before. nice to have some new things to talk about...
  13. you must be on Jack, Jack...I'm already sorry I responded to this thread. We should try and get Herman Moore again too.
  14. Sephitroth is on point. that's what's going to happen and what's not going to happen. This is all to be continued. The Mayor can't change the law by himself, but he might be able to lean on the DA's office and that'll be a big influence on things. We'll see though...I wouldn't count on Plax in '09 and what that means for him beyond that is sketchy. I certainly haven't ever seen Braylon Edwards treat a CB like Plax did en route to the SB: abusive.
  15. This is why I stopped responding to most threads...douchebags like JackStroud made the other MB a waste. I was Tony still had his site up, it was nice not having to deal with this stuff. My only advice, don't respond to Jack's threads...they only exist to keep existing....and they are the same one's over and over again. :brooding:
  16. Depending on our draft, I might consider Torry Holt. I consider him stop gap for the time being, but I doubt Plax will play this year and if he does go to jail, he won't be in shape to play this season until the end and then we'll see if Reese really keeps hiim. I say we use hiim and trade him off is what I expect. Just enough to get his value back up while we seek a non-douchebaggy kind of dude. You don't get another chance in our franchise and that's that. No act of contrition will cover it and we should all just prepare for it now. As for Torry, he would be good and I could live with him for a 3 year contract, see if he works out and then draft our asses off at WR and TE
  17. I'd say that Resse might just be posturing for a number of reasons not the least of which is the draft. As for who will start in our lineup, I'm going to guess that it is largely up to performance in camp, but we do not possess a #1 and that's that....at least not at the moment. if someone even postulated about TO, I'd like them banned immediately.
  18. Well Jerry Reese wasn't running the ship when the G decided to draft Eli, so perhaps it's not in his field of vision that Eli is not a spot thrower and he needs great receivers or open receivers to make plays. leave him without a real #1 and we are in for a troubling year; our boy will be exposed like no other. Look at what Donovan has to do to compensate...all that running around and improvising, not Eli's strong suit. I'm worried about Jerry's ability to manage the cap at the expense of everything else we've bought in the past few years. That WR minus Toomer did precisely not shit against the Beagles and so I think we need to do something impressive in our WR core...I'm prepared to be disappointed.
  19. I don't know, Papa said that it looks like we'll sit out major FA moves and keep with Moss, Manningham, and Hixon...that would be disturbing. We need something and I don't know why anyone thinks Plax will be back...he'll go to jail, we'll not be seeing him again. Nice job, the one shot you had wound up in your leg...#17 you are a douche. We need speed and size if you ask me. SMith is slow, Hixon can't catch and Manningham is a ghost.
  20. He was a very decent coach that was in his first head coaching job. He'd most certainly be better on his second run. I don't know what he did to deserve this stench upon him, but it's bad and they've just killed him. The Baltimore failure, well he was working Kyle Boler and nobody's been able to make that work. I think he's a good guy and in his last season with us, we ended with Jesse Palmer starting; how good could we have been in the last game of that year against Carolina? Like him or hate him, he had some high points. I prefer our current coach and that mentality, but let's not kill the man...he did have one of the highest points in our history: the NFCCG. If we'd gone on to win, you'd never have heard of TC in this neck of the woods.
  21. If he's available, he'll be coming back whether Tom likes it or not. Jerry wants to win and that's that. Now, how long he stays is up to Plax. I suspect he'll be back for a very short stay, assuming that he's not incarcerated, but I have ever expectation that this will not be jail time. Either way, we are drafting a stud WR...my only question is about FA's, but I doubt there's a good enough one to be our new #1.
  22. that's not a blockbuster deal if you ask me. He's good, but old. I think the wear and tear on them necessitates that you draft and build not buy old. They just get hurt too often; all of them. Besides, i like what I saw our of Darcy and obviously Boss continues to mature. We need help at WR, let's fix that and get a real Z up in here!
  23. whether its schematic or not, I can't tell, but he's been no help to us. Maybe we don't mix him up well enough, he's always out on an island and he's not fast enough to create separation and so they play him tight. I like Amani, not heartbroken if he's gone as long as he's replaced. Thanks for the years, Amani, but unlike QB's, you have to have some speed to be good at your job and at 33, you are getting in very deep water.
  24. funny,"slap in the face." I think we can gain some strong consensus that Ray Lewis is the goods, maybe the one of the top 3 ever at LB...either side or middle. He's a leader, a winner and he ain't bad in coverage. He's played in a variety of schemes and has won a SB. .. I think that qualifies. The Ravens aren't letting him go and I would be shocked if he wasnt' one of thier lifers.
