  1. mattingly, as dear to my heart as he is, doesn't seem to be cut out for managing. He is pretty awful... telling he was never considered for the Yankees gig..ever
  2. Dave Roberts is terrible...hinch too..worst managed world series ever..even worse than the cubs Indians of last year's..which was a shit show on both managerial sides as well
  3. agreed, doesn't mean they weren't spinning that hook..and Houston's bullpen was terrible. Worst managing I've seen in a while this post season
  4. just like the cubs won the world series in spite of their awful manager, the Yankees did the same in succeeding in spite of Girardi. Again, you don't think it was a coincidence that girardi won moy and was let go? He isn't good with young players. He is a know it all, narcissist. Terrible for this new, youthfuk Yankee team. Cashman is the best gm in baseball..guys a ninja.
  5. yeah rags would be a good fit. I think Thompson gets the job though..he is the opposite of Girardi... girardi is a know it all. Thompson seems to have good relationships with the players. I have a feeling girardi would have been gone a while ago if not for having players he played with on the roster. He isn't good with young players..it's no coincidence the marlins let him go after winning moy with a young team..think they won in spite of Girardi
  6. Do you think muelens would make a good manager? Personally, I don't know much about him as a coach, but I do like the guy.
  7. They need pitching more than any team in the league...the Yankees have a wealth of high upside pitching prospects.. actually they have a wealth of ever prospect. That's why you include Frazier..gives them high upside outfielder to replace ozuna under control until 2023. A better comparison than Harper is a healthy, harder working cespedes
  8. Well, I'd go for ozuna either way..he is a healthier, unheralded version of Bryce Harper. Could get him for pitching prospects and Clint fazier..then lock him up with a 6 year deal in the 100 mil range. Bam!
  9. Here's my trade idea..Yankees get Marcel ozuna and Giancarlo Stanton. Yankees eat all if Giancarlos contact and trade Clint Frazier, chance Adams and Domingo Acevedo to the marlins
  10. Hasn't the usc qb said he would return to school if the browns have the top pick? I guess Eli would have done the same had he had not graduated. Can grad students play sports?
  11. Otani to be posted. I think the Yankees get him..they have Tanaka, a fellow countryman who will surely make his transition easier. I guess whatever team gets darvish will have the same advantage. Otani fills three needs.. a starting pitcher, a dh and more youth. Then sign sabathia on a one year deal for veteran leadership and a veteran corner infielder that can spell headley and bird.. assuming headley doesn't get traded. Alex Avila would be high on my list too. A back up catcher than can post a positive war almost all don't so it's hard to find, but it can be the difference between the division and the wild card. Austin romine is bad at baseball. He should not be on a major league roster. Upgrading the back up catcher should be a priority.
  12. My off-season wish list for the Yankees They have to upgrade at back up catcher..Alex Avila is a free agent..grab him. Looks like yogi Berra compared to automatic out no power romine. Left specialist for the awesome bullpen. The guy on the royals is a free agent and is really good against lefties..I forgot his name..once highly touted starter. Mike something Dh and sp could be filled in one guy Otani. On days he pitches, whoever the guy playing third base is will dh and utility infielder plays third...or dh Sanchez and keep your best lineup...or slot otani into the batting order..so many possibilities
  13. Tanaka...class act. Stays with yanks. Would have been the best free agent pitcher on the Al market. Arrieta is a nl pitcher and darvish lost it. Mediocre now.. maybe he will get better, but he has regressed every year...and I'm taking his injury into consideration. Tanaka was great in the second half and a beast in the playoffs.
  14. I can't say enough about him. Everyone loved him. He was a class act to say the least..he made you want to do well for him. That kind of guy.nepotism helped, but I'm sure he would have been a huge success no matter what, he is just that great of a guy
  15. I can't say enough about him. Everyone loved him. He was a class act to say the least..he made you want to do well for him. That kind of guy.nepotism helped, but I'm sure he would have been a huge success no matter what, he is just that great of a guy
  16. I would have liked McVay for hc..young, smart..giants family background. Should have held on to coughlin one more year and hired Mcvay. Plus I know his father Tim( not the okc bomber) big TV ad exect.. station owner...peed next to him at the company I worked for at the time..telerep..cox media. And he called me the club ever since. Nicest wealthy guy I ever met/known. guy was the owner of a San Francisco station and treated everyone with kindness and respect. I love Tim Mcvay. He took a poor troubled NYC kid straight out of prison and treated me like I was a vp. Took me under his wing..I owe my ad career to him and two others. Great man. So I know his son is top notch
  17. I don't know man..Yankee relivers.. specifically Dave Robertson has been spinning that hook better than Adam Wainwright in his prime. So have many other relief pitchers. Houston has a terrible bullpen, it's just a fact.
  18. Balls are flying out if every park these days with the change in the balls so I don't think parks are going to make as big of a difference as it used to be
  19. if you're talking same money, I agree. But all you have to do, like in every business is outbid the competition.
  20. no it isn't..see cano Robinson If you pay them, they will come..pony up
  21. not a small market. Cincy is a top 30 market in country of thousands of markets. Now you can argue relativity to baseball, but as I said, small markets do not get professional sports franchises. Every baseball team can and should have payroll of 200 million. Cheap owners want to scream small market...then they should move their teams to some shitty town in Delaware
  22. There are no small markets in sports..small markets don't get professional sports franchised...except the wnba. Chicago, San Fran? Dc? Small markets? They're literally top 6 American markets Chicago is three..San Francisco is 5 dc is 6 maybe even higher now..it's been a while since I worked in markets..I do know that dc and San Fran are one and two in most expensive places to live..not nyc
  23. He's a terrible manager, you're too old school to realizeit at the moment. I have faith in you though...I remember when you called me crazy when I spoke about sabermetrics..now you're on board. Youre capable of seeing the light
  24. he crushed left handed pitching. Dusty is terrible...always has been, always will be..no clue why teams higher him.... affirmative action?
