  1. Week two SB predictions already? Lol. Who am I talking to?
  2. Im not so sure. Having watched Barkley in college, just felt like were not utilizing him properly. Heres what I would do if I were Schumer/Shula. Anytime the Giants are in two TE, or FB/TE, with two WR and Barkley in the backfield: - If the defense is in a normal front 7 (7 DL/LBs) and 4 DBs, motion Barkley out of the backfield into a slot WR position. This forces the defense to either put a safety or LB on him, creating either a mismatch or another defender away from Beckham, Shep, Engram, giving them a better chance of getting open. - Otherwise, in that same formation, if the defense goes with a nickel or sub package with 5 or more dbs, keep Barkley in the backfield and run. I understand you have to vary this a little, but if this kind of structure should create a large number of mismatches, and in the first case get Barkley more involved in the passing game, in open space.
  3. Im not buying the Jags hype just yet. Their offense was completely inept against our very average defense. In general they gave us multiple opportunities to win the game. And lets be real...we are likely an 8-8, 7-9 Team.
  4. We will all continue to root for Flowers of course, but even if hes OKAY 90% of the time, outside that he cant have these 5-6 plays per game where hes a complete disaster and primary driver of ruining or shortening the offensive series.
  5. Yes those comments by Flowers are disconcerting. Unfortunately Wheeler is likely just as bad. I dont know what the answer is. Do we constantly slide help over to the right side in pass plays?
  6. I'm tired of hearing about how great Jacksonville's D line is, as if it's some excuse for our O line. Our O line flat out stunk regardless, and if they don't get their act together, they're going to have issues with many defenses this year, such as the Cowboys, Eagles, Texans to name a few. Also, how about you game plan around that weakness? Instead of insisting on a disproportionate amount of power runs toward the middle, spread them out more. attack the flanks, especially with Barkley.
  7. If they tweak a few things, I feel like this offense can be explosive. 1 - As I said, get Barkley more touches in space, particularly in the passing game. Less interior touches (Im not saying do away with them, just shift the mix) 2 - Gallman needs to have 5-8 touches per game as the grinder, interior back, since he is much tougher and can change the pace, keeping offenses off balance. In fact, Id be interested in sets where we split out Saquon, and put Gallman in the backfield to really mess with defenses. 3 - Engram needs to be used less on long 15 + routes, more on intermediate routes. Clearly his tracking/hands arent consistent enough for the long ball, yet. The above should open up more opportunities for Odell and Shep as well.
  8. I have no faith in our offensive line for power running.
  9. Also, true to form. Flowers had at least two pass plays where he retreated, failed to touch the defender, and ran around in a circle after the defender blew by him. I'll say again, I'm not an offensive line expert...but one thing I know is that in order to pass block, you need to actually make contact with the defender and/or you need to at least get between the QB and the defender lol. The fact that this concept is so hard for Flowers demonstrates that he's not cut out for this league.
  10. These are some of the clear flaws evident in Schurmer and Schula's gameplan for yesterday. And again, not to belabor the point, but more Barkely on the flanks and the passing game, also more Gallman mixed in as well in general, on traditional runs. Gallman is currently a tougher back than Barkely.
  11. Besides that, Flowers, Engram, and to a lesser extent Shepherd lost the game for us.
  12. I didnt understand some of the play calling around Barkley. Barkley is best on the flanks and in space (and his best plays were from those areas), and with our garbage o line didnt get the insistence on so many interior runs. Plus 2 catches for Barkley is unacceptable.
  13. What kind of 3rd and goal from the 8 play call was that?
  14. Flowers proving hes just as good at RT as he good at LT.
  15. I was so certain Weston Richburg was going to be good. Yet, he's a backup at best. I'm not sure why the 49ers paid him so much...he's not worth $9+mm per year, and is not a starting caliber center.
  16. The Jets just signed Webb to their practice squad.
  17. The CBS article BC provided earlier has some more quotes from Pat Schurmer, explaining the rationale for the decision.
  18. Josh Banks was waived. But to your point slide in Tomlinson and have Wynn fill in at DE, and now that I think of it, Mauro will be back after his 4 game suspension, so when he's back, that puts us back up to 6 DL, so I'm not as concerned.
