I read Pickett wanted out because they said the starting job was Wilson’s, instead of open competition.

Didn't seems like there was much hesitation on the Steelers to grants that request either

Seems like they got him pretty cheap

The Steelers are expected to trade Pickett and a fourth-round draft pick (No. 120) to the Philadelphia Eagles, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Friday. Pittsburgh will receive a third-round pick (No. 98) and the Eagles' highest two seventh-round draft picks in the deal, Rapoport added.

Also quite the change for the Steelers.

They go from Pickett, Rudolph and Trubinsky.

To a QB of Russ and Fields that only costs 4.3 million and a 6th round pick in 2026.

We have a backup QB costing us 40 million lol

You gotta wonder if McCarthy is there at 6, would the Steelers trade up that far given he could sit behind Russ and Fields...

or do they see Fields as their QB of future?

I think they've indicated they want to extend both Russ and Fields.

But only a month ago the Steelers were saying Pickett was the starter and was getting a year three lol

I would be surprised to see a team trade up to 6 only to draft a guy they are planning to have sit a whole season...  but with the low cost of the QBs they have now it would be a possibility.
