Donnell suffered a neck injury on Nov. 1 in New Orleans and did not return to the field in 2015. He was inactive for four games before being placed on injured reserve on Dec. 8.

Prior to his injury, Donnell caught 29 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns, including a game-winning 12-yarder with 21 seconds remaining in a victory over San Francisco.

In three seasons with the Giants, Donnell has 95 catches for 877 yards and eight touchdowns.

Donnell originally signed with the Giants on March 13, 2012. He spent that season on the practice squad before making the 53-man roster in 2013. Donnell did not miss a game in two and one-half seasons before suffering his neck injury.

In his absence rookie free agent Will Tyeicon-article-link.gif and second-year pro Jerome Cunninghamicon-article-link.gif took most of the snaps at tight end.
