gmenroc
How early is too early? I'm figuring on working one up this week, post combine - pre free agency. And doing a second one after free agency, pre-draft.
Allstarjim
It's getting to mock season... I think it's ok to do an early one. I don't really like to do an early one. I like to do all my research until I feel ready to make my mock for our annual SW mock draft competition!
Bigblue25
Kiper and McShay have done like three, so have Jeremiah, Brooks and other draftniks etc. I was thinking about one now since the combine is done, but it will probably change by time the draft gets closer. BleedinBlue
One year I went through all the mock drafts on the internet (well, about 140 of them) and put them on an excel sheet to categorize them and submit them on a post indicating the draft pick of the Giants in descending order. It was a lot of work. Hopefully someone else will give it a shot. Regardless - here's a website that sets you up with 307 mocks. Bigblue25
Ok this thread made me want to do one. Now that the combine is done.... 1.Texans-Blake Bortles QB UCF O'Brien wants his guy to build the franchise around. Bortles is a good fit for the offense they are going to run. O'Brien and their new QB coach Godsey are very influenced by George O' Leary 2.Rams-Jadeveon Clowney DE South Carolina This might end up being Atlanta's pick via trade, but I don't project trades. DE is not the most pressing need for St. Louis, but Clowney is BPA and Gregg Williams like to rotate DE's, Long,Quinn,Clowney would be a great rotation. Long also may be in his last year with the Rams. 3.Jaguars-Johnny Manziel QB Texas A&M Manziel will bring some attention to a struggling franchise and will be a good fit for Jedd Fisch's offense. Manziel will have good weapons in Cecil Shorts and Justin Blackmon(if Blackmon returns, which I think he will) 4.Browns-Teddy Bridgewater QB Louisville Yet another QB, yet another new coach and new GM. Bridgewater should be what this franchise needs if given time and keeping the same offense in place. New OC Kyle Shanahan will be a good fit with Bridgewater. 5.Raiders-Greg Robinson OT Auburn Robinson was a monster at the combine and rock solid for Auburn at the LT position. Huge upside, was recruited has a highly touted OG. The Raiders need Oline help, even if they resign Jared Veldheer 6.Falcons-Khalil Mack OLB/DE Buffalo Can stand up or play with his hand in the dirt. He's a great fit for Mike Nolan's hybrid D and Atlanta has needed pass rush help for a few years and never addressed it. 7.Bucs-Derek Carr QB Fresno St. Carr looked good at the senior bowl and at the combine, after a poor bowl perfomance. This may be a reach, but according to some sources Lovie and Tedford don't love Mike Glennon and he's not a fit for Tedford's WCO. Tedford coached Carr at Fresno St. 8.Vikings-Sammy Watkins WR Clemson BPA. Good young WR duo in Patterson and Watkins. This will give Norv Turner a ton of flexibility 9.Bills-Jake Matthews OT Texas A&M They can play Matthews at LT and move Cordy Glenn to RT or leave Glenn at LT and have Matthews play RT, either way they have two good bookends to keep E.J Manuel upright and give their young QB who likes the hold ball time in the pocket. 10.Lions-Justin Gilbert CB Oklahoma St. Big need for the Lions. Gilbert is fast(4.35 forty) and is a ballhawk(7 int,9 pbu's last year), His arms measured at 33 1/8 in. longer or the same has some OT's. He is definently the cornerstone at DB the Lions need. 11.Titans-Taylor Lewan OT Michigan Need youth at OT and will most likely be losing David Stewart. The makings of a good young Oline for the Titans with Warmack and Schwenke drafted last year. 12.Giants-Mike Evans WR Texas A&M Evans is a physical WR, with speed has well. He can go up and get any throw and is outstanding after the catch. He will be a nice red zone option has well for Eli(12 TD's in 2013) 13.Rams-Darqueze Dennard CB Michigan St. Very physical corner who also showed speed at the combine. The Rams are most likely releasing Finnegan. This will give the Rams a young CB trio in Dennard, Janoris Jenkins and Trumaine Johnson in the slot 14.Bears Kony Ealy DE Mizzou Julius Peppers could pontentially be released and even if he isn't they could use a another DE. Ealy is long and has speed. He creates turnovers and has tons of upside. 15.Steelers Anthony Barr OLB/DE UCLA The Steelers need alot of youth on defense. They drafted Jarvis Jones last year and he looked bad, he could still progress next year, but they could use another outside pass rusher. 16.Cowboys Aaron Donald DT Pittsburgh Donald will be the three tech the Cowboys need on their DLine. Donald has tremondous burst off the line of scrimmage and led the NCAA with 28.5 tfl combined with 12 sacks. Won numerous awards last year, including ACC DPOY. 17.Ravens-Eric Ebron TE UNC The Ravens need a safety valve for Flacco. Ebron has speed to stretch the seam and is a matchup nightmare for LB's and S's. He's a WR playing TE. 18.Jets-Marquise Lee WR USC Lee is fantastic after the catch and will provide Geno Smith with a weapon he needs. Lee also has speed to stretch the field. He had an injury marred 2013 but he seems to checkout healthy now. The Jets have the worst WR core in the NFL. 19.Dolphins-Zack Martin OT Notre Dame Another OT named Martin, this one is passionate about football though. High IQ player with good technique and power. Can possible play any position on the oline and the Dolphins need help desperately in that area. 20.Cardinals Jimmy Garoppolo QB Eastern Illinois Bruce Arians said they are not taking a QB, which means they are taking a QB. Carson Palmer is 33 and is going into his final year under contract. Garappolo has been a fast riser since the EW shrine game and the senior bowl, he continued to get scouts attention at the combine. I had to fit him in the first round and he will definently by an upgrade for the Cardinals future at QB over Skeleton and Lindley. 21.Packers Ha'sean Ha Ha Clinton Dix S Alabama The Packers need help on the backend of their defense. Dix is a very rangy centerfield type of S, who can also come up and support the run. He takes good angles to ball carriers and is smart. Good fit for GB. 22.Eagles Calvin Pryor S Louisville A tough battle between Pryor and Dix on who is the top safety and now they go back to back. Been a problem area for Philly. Pryor is human missile that can also cover. The Eagles may address S in free agency with someone like T.J Ward but, could use two or three. Patrick Chung was abysmal has their FS. 23.Chiefs C.J Mosley LB Alabama The Chiefs take BPA who also fills a need next to Derrick Johnson. Mosley gives them the coverage LB they need, that also has the speed to blitz. Very instinctive LB, who will make up a great core in KC with Johnson,Hali and Houston. 24.Bengals Timmy Jernigan DT FSU Bengals like go best BPA and Jernigan is a steal here. Bengals like DT's that can rush the passer and like a rotation. Jernigan can play next to Geno Atkins who also is coming off an ACL injury. 25.Chargers Kelvin Benjamin WR FSu Back to back FSU prospects. Rivers likes tall receivers that can also stretch the field. 26.Browns Brandin Cooks WR Oregon St Cooks and Gordon will make up a phenomenal duo for Bridgewater. Cooks can fly(4.33 forty) 27.Saints-Kyle Van Noy OLB BYU Van Noy will fit well in Rob Ryan's 34 D. Can rush the passer, is good against the run and can drop into coverage. Fills a need at OLB 28.Panthers-Odell Beckham WR LSU Cam Newton needs another weapon. Steve Smith was solid still last year, but is getting up in age. LaFell was a good #2 wideout, is going to be a FA though. Even if resigned they can still use a young receiver. Beckham is good fit here. 29.Patriots-Louis Nix III NT Notre Dame BPA and Wilfork is coming off a torn achilles at 32. Wilfork may be cut. Nix will good fit at NT in the 3-4 and a steal for NE. 30.49ers-Jason Verrett CB TCU If the Niners have a weakness it's their secondary which isn't really bad, still could use a young corner with the potential release of Rogers. Verrett is a ballhawk that can also press even though he's undersized. 31.Broncos-Morgan Moses OT UVA Moses has been rising up boards and draws comparisons to Ryan Clady who he now go's and plays next too at RT. Moses has been versatile for UVA and played 4 out of the 5 oline positions. The Broncos can not let Peyton get hit like he did in the super bowl and teams are going try to mimic the Seahawks success. Moses is an upgrade over Orlando Franklin and can even fill at LT if Clady is not fully recovered from injury. 32..Seahawks-Xavier Su'a Filo OG UCLA They need a LG next to Russell Okung that can run block and pass protect. Su'a Filo fits well in their scheme
Nas
I'm not too crazy about Mike Evans. Who's the WR from the Simenoles who caught the winning TD? And what's his draft projection?
Mr. P
Later first round, I like Evans better.
