He was average. And he played right tackle, not left.

 

My bad on the side you're right he was a RT but he was not average. If I remember he was actually quite good and even made one pro bowl. If all our OT's were as "average" as Runyan was we'd be in terrific shape.

Runyan was not average. He was well above average...and got paid like an above average lineman.

Guess it depends what you'd call average. I'd call Kareem McKenzie an average tackle too, and he's on par with Runyon (or at least he was in years past, he's looked really slow and out of shape this year).

Average means you're right in the middle of the pack talent wise. Both Mackenzie and Runyan in their primes were stellar tackles, definitely not middle of the pack.

LOL, I know the definition of average. Maybe I should have said depends on how big your 'middle of the pack' is. I always thought Runyon was way overrated, middle of the pack, but maybe that's just me.
