Mr. P
They just showed Coughlin on the sidelines watching the defensive lineman run the 40. He had his own stopwatch, which led to some jokes from the panel, but then Rich Eisen and Mayock noticed something interesting: he wasnt timing their entire run, only the first 10 yards, which led to a discussion about first steps and explosion. So when all the times are released later today look at the 10 yard splits in the 40 times, it might offer a speck of insight into who we may be looking at. Mr. P
Remember the story about Coughlin going to the combine in 03 when he wasnt even coaching? He was just fired by Jacksonville in 02 and didnt get another HC offer so he took a year off. At the combine an executive at the combine said "Tom, what are you doing here? You dont even have a team". Coughlin responded "Not this year, but I will have another".

This separates Coughlin from the average coaches in the league, not to mention doing an 180 from a hard ass coach to a coach the players love. ppodlesny
I dont understand the value of the combine on the pro level...it does not simulate real play, only certain physical traits and such....anyone ever see Tom Brady's combine? it was delorable...yet he is the bet QB in the league and a certain hall of famer...I use to coach baseball and we would hold tryouts.,..everyone already knew who the best players were long before the tryouts...but what the tryouts did, it let us sort through all the crap, in other words who was the best of the worse...a lot of times it came down to who can get to the game without needing a ride...lol

These guys need to change direction very quickly, and to that end, I am quickly becoming a Clay Matthews fan.
