Prince Akeem: Sir, did you happen to catch the professional football contest on television last night?

Cleo McDowell: No, I didn't.

Prince Akeem: Oh sir, the Giants of New York took on the Packers of Green Bay. And in the end, the Giants triumphed by kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin through a big "H". It was a most ripping victory.

Cleo McDowell: Son.

Prince Akeem: Yes?

Cleo McDowell: If you want to keep working here, stay off the drugs.

Prince Akeem: Yes.

I stole the idea, but damn it feels good.

And it was MCDOWELLS. Not McDONALDS, OK? McDonalds has the golden arches, McDowells has the golden ARCS. Theres a difference. :P

Interestingly, where McDowell's is today stands a Wendy's on

Queens Blvd.

Just before the Queens Borough Bridge starts ramping up in Sunnyside....right?

No...it's alot closer to the Queens Center Mall. I guess you could

consider it the beginning of Woodside..not 100 percent sure about that

though. It was about 4 blocks away from that sporting goods store called

Hermans...it was near the Elmwood movie theater.

I know where you were talking about. Back in the mid 90's I oversaw 6 group homes for mentally retarded adults in that area. They were mostly in Rego Park a couple were in Middle Village along the street the Q-11 travels down to Howard Beach from the Mall. I remember Woodside being a big Irish area....now its back to being Irish but a lot of them are recent arrivals from Eire as opposed to American Irish.
