I know opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and they all stink. I did not like the pick at first but the more I think about it, I am starting to think is a pretty smart pick. Strahan is getting a little long in the tooth, and he is coming off of a productive season. I think if he is able to sit out a couple of series without feeling like he is leaving the team short of the field he can still be fresh for February. It may even help him spend another season on the team. At the same time Kiwi gets to learn from the best. He has Tim Carter speed and can catch the ball. maybee we can actually strech the field a little bit for Plex and Shockey... not to mention that speed might make the Saftey think twice about coming up into the box.... That is the problem, who do you replace Heilman with to move him to starter. Not Zambrono, with how he walks batters you do not want him as your set up man... Is there someone in AAA who could step up, make Zambrono the long reliever/emergency starter. I think Heilman has too much talent to just be a setup man, there is no way he will stick around after his current contract is up if all he does is pitch the 8th. (How many Set-up men are in the HoF or make the All-Star team?)

How long does Willis have on his contract? Isnt this his contract year? On a strickly player for player basis Willis is one of the few players that you could even consider trading DWright for. A strike out pitcher with the ability to win 20 games a year for a 3rd baseman who in his frist full season battted .307 with 27 dingers... that has to translate to a potential of .340 with 40hr... Wright is such a fan favorite he is un-touchable, especially for the whitebread Mets fans... we need one star player who speaks English as his native language!
