  1. I agree... don't wait for it. Go for it. L'audace as the French would say it... Audacity. Better to lose out on reaching for your guy than sitting back and hoping for the best. I was a big let it happen guy when I ran things... but occasionally I would reach out and usually get the person I wanted for a role if I thought it necessary. History is usually not the "great" man/woman, it is usually a chain of events leading up to an event... however sometimes you have to go for your Eli and be done with. No agonizing, no over thinking and/or histrionics. No matter what you do, you will be criticized. So go down reaching for the apple rather than waiting for the apple to fall.
  2. You did not miss much bro. The Giants of the 70s especially were known for their great defenses. One of the tropes of the 70s was that if we could combine the defense of the Giants with the offense of the Jets we would have a powerhouse team in NY second to none. Of course it was pure fantasy, because prior to free agency there was genuine hatred between the Giants and Jets fans and their players.
  3. Jesus Holy Christ... I forgot that. Giants GM's have a history of getting stuck on their pet project players... for Young it was that fucking Dave Brown... Reese Ereck Flowers and others.... Gettlemen overpaying journeymen as if they were/are MVP's and going with DJ... Schoen sticking with DJ... It just goes to show us that I would not have been unhappy if they let DJ walk after the Vikings playoff win. I think we would have been better off. DJ's upside is Danny Kannell game manager of the Fassell era. Fassell was an offensive genius and got as much as he could from Kannell who was basically a 2nd and/or 3rd string QB. Time for Schoen to get off the dime and get his QB. I really don't think that Schoen will hitch his wagon to DJ and is very ready to live and/or die with his guy.
  4. Yep... all we had to do was pay for a few tackles who could block and go max protection on most plays. Recency bias for sure. The lines of the 70s were really bad with worse QB's.
  5. Pounded into the ground. Do I look like Shred?
  6. He looks good catching the ball, what will he do when he gets hit then pounded?
  7. This... so knowledgeable about the game that he saw blitzes and stunts coming by just looking at the lineup. That will help with the rush. DJ is too inexperienced and has a run to get out of trouble mentality.
  8. These are the Giants of 1979-1980 to me, and/or the 1982 Giants (Parcell's first year). Those were bad Giants teams with upside.
  9. Just be a Giants fan from the late 60s to 70s bro and you will know all about bad decisions and infighting between the Mara's from the Duke (Wellington Mara) who got along great with his brother... but hated (vice versa) his son the nephew who got bought out. That is how Tisch ended up with 50% of the team.
  10. You are too funny, time to move on. No sentiment, muss or fuss... just move on. Another failed free agent, who was all world and gave us next to nothing. Oh well... NEXT...
  11. Watching this second string QB getting molested out there brought back memories of the Giants of the 70s for me.... not good.
  12. This as well...bro... this as well. Football is a violent game and you have to have the fire in the belly to play. Once he started talking retirement... I would have eased his departure. Comes from my years of being a big boss. Many a subordinate gave me that speech and I would immediately (without their knowledge) start looking and/or contemplate who would be their replacement. Such is the way of the world...
  13. It is okay if he retires... get a new draft pick to possibly be good and/or get better.
  14. From Duke no less. The Duke Curse Lives on...
  15. High school grab ass that I thankfully left behind at age 17... now almost 60. Best thing that ever happened to me. DO NOT MISS IT AT ALL. I was born boring and mature.
  16. I loved Giants stadium as a fan... LT and Carson said playing on that surface was like playing on carpet over concrete. Metlife stadium is similar. Go back to mud/grass and/or a more modern surface.
  17. For sure. Good attitude. Plus if Schoen and Daboll die with DJ they will be basically unemployable on an NFL level for the next few years I believe.
  18. This right here. They are not wedded to DJ and they are averse to the unemployment line based on Gettleman's choices. If they caught lightning in a bottle with DJ, fine but they did not. A second string QB with one read ability reverted badly in 2023. A decent backup for a couple of games but no number one, in most football people's opinion. Schoen and Daboll are not morons.
  19. Yeah offer him a contract for rotation and if he shops its buh bye...
  20. She is 40 but looks like her mom at 65... Been there...
  21. Yes... you are so right. Technique is all. When half of your games are against what should be division II guys 50 lbs lighter than you... that big strong downhill flex can work. However in the NFL everyone is big, strong and nasty... and/or has a lot of fortitude. Also I think I am like you. Been watching for 56 years since 1968 and I have a quick trigger. If guys don't work out for a team in 2-3 years I am ready to move on. It is a business and things are changing all of the time. We have to adapt to the times.
