  1. Seriously, who? The guy does it all. He's money in the biggest of spots, great teammate, stand up guy when it comes to the media. I wouldn't trade this guy for anyone.
  2. Anyone think K-rod's struggles last night make his price tag go down? I was hoping he'd be great in the playoffs...
  3. Our O would be toast without reyes though... Our D would take a blow, and the heart of our team when he's going.
  4. Baseball's a funny sport. Before the playoffs started I wasn't scared at all of the Cubs. October is a totally different animal. Guys that make the first 162 games look easy can play like minor leaguers in this month. Ryan Dempster had the most to prove out of anyone in the playoffs last night, and failed. Seven walks and a grand slam is terrible. All of a sudden we go from talking about the Cubs possibly coasting through LA to them putting their hopes on a hot head that has gotten lit up in his last couple of starts, then to a pitcher who hasn't pitched in a post-season game and had velocity down 7 MPH in his last start.
  5. Olivo is one of the big-time douches in this league. I'm glad his career is rotting in KC, he's an asshole. He started shit again this year with the Royals too.
  6. GG I agree with everything in your post except one thing so I'll comment on that. You'd really trade Reyes for a top of the line starter? With no viable replacement in mind, what prompts you to think that? Just curious.
  7. Mets are going to have to be very creative with that list...
  8. Does anyone have the list of free agents? Once I find that out I'll predict everythign except the pen.
  9. You must really feel confident that Cashman is going to be agressive.
  10. This team needs a gritty guy players can rally around. Orlando Hudson makes sense in that department. If they want another big bat then Manny is the guy. I still believe that if we win this thing it's going to be around guys like Wright and Reyes. But there are a lot of others that could be gone. Sorry that the Mets FO may have permanently fucked up your brain Churchy, but we can't wait for you to turn it around. Pop in Murphy. Take your money and go Castillo. Hello Hudson. As for the pen it's easy to say OVERHAUL LET'S GO! but who the hell are we gonna get? Obviously it starts with the closer, but we gotta work our way down. Smith stays, and maybe Feliciano but I'm iffy on that one. Everyone else should be gone. It's easy to rip on these guys for their last week of play but we blew triple the amount of saves that the Phils did. If we blew half of that we win the division by five of games. Not often do you see teams outhit bullpens with the likes of these and this year was no exception. That's why I don't put much blame on our hitters, it was simply too much to ask for.
  11. That's why I don't buy it. The least the Giants FO has earned over the past year is our trust that they would invest this much money into one guy.
  12. BTW jerry is coming back next year it was just announced.
  13. Tentalively we're playing the fish and the nats on the road.
  14. jr ive felt the exact same way. i busted out crying for the first time after a loss since god knows when. i got myself emotionally tied to this team unlike last year when i felt we had no right playing for october. the closing ceremonies were almost surreal. it was probably the biggest mix of emotions ive ever felt, and i dont even have any memories of that place. Down the road i think its going to be more memorable going out like this.
  15. Glazer says Plax has been fined 40-50 times since he's been a giant and ten times this season already
  16. I was absolutely devastated. Last year I felt this team had no right to be playing in october and i had a giants-eagles game to go to so it wasnt as bad to swallow. This year is different. Despite not finishing it again, there was a different feel to this team. The fans and players both knew it. We gotta overhaul the pen which is obvious. I just have no clue who we get. K-rod is a must, but I don't think the Wilpon's will stand for his BS celebrations every single game. Seeing the emotions after a loss like that in the ceremonies inspired me a lot. I watched the whole thing and I'm gonna do everything in my power to get to the home opener. Ya gotta bereave...
  17. Phils have a one way ticket to the NLCS by playing the brewers too.
  18. Our only FA signings were Danny Clark and Sammy Knight, while we lost Wilson, Mitchell, Torbor, all of which signed pretty big deals. We'll get a couple of later picks. Hopefully we can trade Moss and get another pick down the road. I hear the Seahawks are interested. Hopefully he has 10 catches then they give us a 2nd rounder
  19. That wouldve been great if he blew it today. He was great this year. Lidge for Bourne, ugh :brooding:
  20. I got goosebumps when he got that final out. That was unbelievable.
  21. Did you not read my disclaimer where i said "don't take me too literally?" I'm not gonna compare the greatest postseason run in NFL history to what this team has done, just pointing out the eery parallels of certain words and games that sound a lot like the Giants. Aside from giving Marmol a break, Lou played to win his first few games while trying to give some other guys a chance. Last night's B lineup resulted from him knowing that they were going to play through rain, and that there was no point of risking any injury. If it was 65 degrees with little clouds things mightve been different...
  22. Don't take me too literally on this. Just hearing the word resiliency and seeing the word believe on the scoreboard after the win tonight, there's just a certain feel to them. Before January I always felt the giants would find a way to lose the big games, yet they kept on coming out on top. I feel the same vibe with the Mets. Regardless of this weekend htis is not the 07 bunch.
  23. In the middle of the month the thought of Reyes passed through my head. I was getting really worried, because if he had another sub .200 month of September the Mets would seriuosly have to evaluate his stance on being on this club. Luckily he's played very well the last two months so that's moot. Basically all our pending FAs would be gone, and at least 3/4 of our pen. And obviously Castillo.
  24. Church bailed out a lot of asses tonight. Especially Aguayo. How in the hell does that man have a job at ANY level? I wouldn't want this guy being the 3b coach for my HS team.
